    I have been watching all your past videos. My brother who’s only 26 years old has been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. :( 😢 is there any advice you can give him? He’s very confused on what to do and what route to take in this horrible situation. Thank you.

    Thank you for your videos. I have my reversal in about 10 days. Can you share what products you used immediately after, example "depends'. I am not finding bowel incontinence products in local stores. Very worried as I do work outside of the home and carry the insurance for my family, so I will need to return to work.

      Your intestine connects straight to your Anus and becomes shorter. Just imagine a water hose where the ends are damaged and leaking. You cut the edges to make it shorter. The healing process HURTS more then the surgery. I just went past my 2nd month and it still HURTS like a paper cut.

      @WelcomeTooo oh hello, My surgery went well. Recovery time was much easier and quicker than the original surgery. The biggest n longest issue Ive had is getting the bowels regulated back to normal. I had my reversal April 26 n Im still taking one Immodium AD a day. The first two weeks I didn't know i could take the Immodium 3 xs a day. So I was very very sore. Ask your doc what can you take to help slow it down. Pretzels helped me as well. I can now go two days without an Imodium AD. But ask ur doc because you very well could have issues n Do Not allow them to go for more than 4 days to a week. I did stay away from Lettuce for a very long time. It wasn't friendly. Lol! Slowly introducing it 7 mths later. If you have any other questions, please ask. Ill help as much as I can. If not, then I wish you the very best with your reversal.

      @WelcomeTooo Hi my surgery went well. I did have an issue for two weeks with my bowels. I was told to take an Imodium spread out up to 4 times a day. I took 3 per day spread out n it helped A lot to slow down the bowels. Gradually i got to only needing one per day. Its been 8 mths since my reversal and im down to one imodium every third day. Working on not taking any. There are other products you can use. I used the Imodium because it was quick n easy. Im eating nearly everything i use to eat. Still no luck with onions n I Love Fried onions. Oh well. Maybe next year. Lol! Wishing you luck! PS. I did write before to your question but somehow it doesn't show up.

Not once did I get sick or lose my appetite. I also had 28 rounds of radiation which drastically shrunk my colorectal cancer. Then had a Iliostomy surgery March a year ago followed by reverse Iliostomy and after some trying times almost a year later I fell very good and exercising every day. Hi Brittani...New subscriber here. Awesome attitude and so happy for you having no evidence of disease! Was your tumor low , mid, or high in your rectum? I hear bowel function/dysfunction makes a difference with tumor location and resection margin. (no LARS, minor LARS, or major LARS) I have stage 3 mid rectal cancer. (tumor 7.5cm from anal verge). Neoadjuvant chemo and radiation. Had surgery on Sept. 18 2023 Low anterior resection with TME. Lost 2/3 of my rectum and all of my sigmoid colon. Will have my loop ileostomy reversed soon. As much as I hate this bag I'm very nervous about my level of bowel dysfunction and quality of life. I know everyone is different how their bowels function, so I guess time will tell. How's your diet these days and how often are you eating? Big or small meals? How many bathroom visits do you average daily? Do you still have bad bathroom days and does anything seem to trigger them? Also how do you distinguish between gas and stool? Seems like that would be a tough one to navigate. You seem to have a great quality of life which is my hope and goal. Thanks for posting. It's nice to know I'm not alone. Daren 57 y/o m

      Hi Daren, sounds like we are twins when it comes to the cancer world. Everything of mine matched yours completely except I was a 6cm tumor. At this point being almost 2 years out from reversal I have no issues. I eat what I want in amounts I want and don't have a care in the world. I can absolutely distinguish between gas and stool and all these things improved around the 9mo mark. The worst part is occasionally I'll have a night where I'm in the bathroom 6 times or so if I ate something my body didn't like...like taco bell. 😂 But I think that's normal for most people. Look into irrigation. It helped me a lot during those first 6mo of uncertainty and wanting to live a normal life. I also believe it helped me heal faster but I could be wrong. You're doing excellent!! Praying for you!

    • @DarenWoods
      @DarenWoods ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the response and I will definitely have irrigation in my tool box. I understand post reversal the first few weeks to a month is anything but pleasant so I'm mentally preparing for that. I had good continence control with the gastrogafin test so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Congratulations again on your recovery and prognosis! Thank you for the prayers. Hope it's okay in the weeks/months to come if I have questions or concerns I can reach out. Information on rectal cancer seems to be scarce at best. It's great to find someone that mirrors my journey having such a positive outcome. All the best to you and yours! Daren @@utbrittani85ify

      Hi Brittani, Hope all is well and you had a good holiday season. I was slated for ileostomy reversal in Nov. 23 and I developed a lower left leg DVT. Taking eliquis to resolve that. New reversal date is Feb. 12 2024. How is everything to date with your bowel function? Is it all still manageable without daily irrigation and how would you rate your quality of life on a 10 scale? Modifying your diet much? As the reversal date draws nearer I'm getting more anxious about my "new normal" and adjustment period. The ileostomy has offered me some independence and I don't want to lose that, but I won't miss this bag hanging off me either. Trying my best to stay positive.
