a trailer tongue extension is much better and less stress on your hitch, you now have a giant lever working against your true hitch

Brother, I love this video. It answered all my questions on my curt extension just I purchased. I love the turnbuckle idea. That looks pretty stout. Now I'm worried about my extender I bought. I'm hoping the 34 will work but I really wanted to reduce it to 24. I'll just have to wait and see when I pick it up tomorrow

We use to camp there a lot, but after they put up the all night sodium vapor lights, we couldn't use our telescope, no star gazing here. Found another campground nearby without lights and clear sky. Now we stay there all the time. I bring the scout troop up there on aour way to summer camp every summer. Hike down (20 min) to our favorite, secret swimming hole. The scouts and parents always want to go back. In the winter we come up for a week either at Madri Gras or Easter for a week. Set up camp and do day trips around the area, hiking, climbing, caving, and visiting historical sites. It gives everyone in the patrol a chance to cook meals. We have made our own trails in LRC, and explore the canyon. always an exciting time.

Tranquility Campground. You go thru Desoto and at the three way, you turn right for a couple of miles, its on the right. A little further away is Cherokee Rock City. Just south of little river canyon they have a website and some you tube videos. Its much cheaper and new.@@MikAnda

Building one of these tonight with $71 worth of scrap steel tube from metalsupermarket here in Houston. The Top tube will be 53" long when complete. The production Superhitch is reported to have a solid chunk of steel inside the top hitch segment that extends 10" into the 2.5" wide tube (then it is welded in by boring holes in the outer to make it one chunk. The bottom tube is just 2x2 square steel tube. I am told that everything is 1/4" thick on the OEM one. Pretty straight forward design and with $25 in safety chain, $15 in turnbuckles and a $45 drop hitch you can't go wrong for saving that much $$. They want just under $700 for the 48" right now on etrailer :(

If the ground where you are camped is soft enough push the poles down into the ground to help with stability. Also an idea is at Lowe’s they have cut to length clear vinyl utility runner for the ground, otherwise your showered feet will be standing in mud and dirt all the way back to the camper.

Extending the tow ball distance does many un-stabilizing things, like reducing the load on your front axle and increasing the load on your rear axle, your rear axle is the load 'pivot point'!

I was wide open in 5th gear and even the cops were passing me on 7 mile bridge. Can't believe you guys were riding around 2 up (please wear at least a helmet!). Did you happen to go to Barracuda Grille or La Niña? Those are my favorite spots in Marathon. Oh, and Brutus Seafood.

Thank you, we try to add new tricks/tips we learn with each video. Going over the 7 mile bridge 2 up was very questionable. We had people passing us the entire way, AND were going the speed limit. We didn't get to try the Barracuda Grille or La Niña. This trip we relaxed on the boat and at the hotel and at they bar/grill they had there, Barnacle Barney's. It was good.
