I take no credit in its recovery or creation, I only cut together this extension so people may listen to the Land of the Sky theme in all its full glory. It's a short and simple piece, and if you've seen the movie you know it only appears for about five seconds before it's never heard again. It's rather amazing to hear it in full and you really get a sense of the clean futuristic atmosphere.
It is not the cleanest extension, but I thought it necessary to keep the drum riff at the beginning in for each repeat as otherwise it might have felt more repetitive than it already kinda is.

Upbeat, adventurous, mysterious, heroic... How can you top this? Truly a classic.
I actually heard this movie was originally going to be longer but they could only make 2 acts of it hence why the ending kind of felt open note with everyone going after Robotnik. It's a shame too because I really like the setting of this film. The idea of Freedom possibly being a ruined earth with landmasses floating in the sky and Robotnik living on the surface of the planet where there's hardly any sunlight was quite interesting. I would have liked to see more of Robotnik's city too. The neon lights and everything were awesome. Still what we got was nothing short of amazing. Metal Sonic taking the center stage as the main enemy was cool and I like how as he continues to fight Sonic he begins to become more and more like Sonic eventually taking on Sonic's heroic identity to the point he in a moment of redemption sacrifices his own life to save the president. It leads to a sad scene where Sonic tries to save the clone from dying but Metal resigns to his fate saying that there can only be one of him not two as the planet's hero. Sonic screaming Metal's name as he melts in the lava just was sad. In a way Sonic saw himself die before his eyes. He was created to combat Sonic but in the end he became just as much a Sonic as the person he was based off of.

Believe it or not, that's not part of the original recording - which is why it's not included here. This is the unaltered music before it was put into the film and overlayed with additional audio.

That magical era of the 90s before Sonic got cringy, then edgy, then overly cartoony. When he was still cool and his franchise had an identity.
Japanese Sonic has never been cringy.
Sonic was always edgy, but it was a healthy amount at first. No worse than much of the ninties. Then it went dark for like one game (Shadow's) and I'll be mixed about Sonic Boom era as the games did steadily increase in quality until we hit Fire and Ice which is a lot of fun to play. (Just wish the music wasn't so forgettable) I feel that while there is weight to what Sonic wants to be the silver lining that there is a bit of something for everyone for Sonic these days.

Totally agree. I love 90s Sonic more and more, but I can't deny I still admire his 2000s self for the most part. You still had a lot of charm and coolness mixed with all the crazy concepts and rushed, rough games that kept coming out. I think a lot of the charm was lost around Colors and after. After that it always felt like the series was ashamed of itself so it tried to be more like Mario and strip itself down to the bare bones iconography that Sonic is known for. Anything they could grab on that felt safe and non offensive. But they sure didn't shy away from jumping on the bandwagon of every hater they could find of the series. Every social media presence of there's chimed in on their own failures and nothing else. That's when I stopped caring anymore. With shoddy games that have no passion behind them what's left at that point? What I like about 90's Sonic is there was a serious, honest to God, adventure loving charm about itself first and foremost. The humor was always a thing on the side and the coolness of it all came from how down to earth it all felt, how awe inspiring it was, the sight of seeing Sonic and the friends he met along the way dealt with every violent advance from Eggman. You had beautiful vistas that you wanted to protect like Sonic. A simple environmental message. You had this strange world full of normal creatures, as well as anthropomorphic animals with strange abilities and talents, with possible human settlements? There was always the itching feeling in the back of your mind that you were running through a post apocalyptic Earth, or at least an Earth from the distant future. To me, that made things interesting. I wish the same passion and charm of the olden days returned for the future of the series, but I don't really think that's ever gonna happen at this point. Maybe one day....
well at least we now have frontiers and superstars so I guess sonic is slowly starting to make a comeback he's not there yet but he slowly is at least compare to the 2010s and yeah I love the 90s sonic with his attitude, cocky yet his caring personality, and the stories especially sonic 3 and knuckles (which is still is my favorite sonic game ever made). And also the 2000s and I don't care about the whole classic vs modern thing I really don't if it's a classic sonic game or modern game I'm still playing but yeah the 2010s did ruin not just sonic but the rest of the characters boom gets a pass since it's not "canon" but colors, lost world, forces (which was really the low point for the character personalities as a whole) it ruin the characters for a while until frontiers, when they reverted back to their 2000s counterpart and while superstars us far from being the best sonic game at least the story and gamplay was nice maybe you can count mania but that one wasn't really made by sega, sega only did the distribution but however you look at it yeah maybe count mania. But as we stand sonic is slowly making a comeback but we'll have to wait and see.

The only thing I don't like about those shorts are some of the dumb derpy humor moments and the meme faces. I like my Sonic stuff like this, where it doesn't have to parade around itself like its some self aware joke. Everything but that was fantastic
@@stormcutter59 They weren’t even meme faces, they were just turned into memes. None of those faces feel like they were done to be self aware, at least to me anyways. As long you don’t see sonic pointing at something while looking at the camera, it’s fine.
@@stormcutter59 what I’m trying to say is, it seems more like sonic team or the people behind their twitter are the same people trying to make memes out of those animations. I don’t fully understand the production of the animated shorts, so I’m going to leave it at that.
