FF7 Advent Children In Theaters for Limited Time
I really loved this game even tho I played it late. The reviews scared me. I think the pacing in the first half was kinda bad with the mmo style side quests but in the end it all came together really nicely
I did a side quest last night for a guy in Lostwing and afterwards he gave me his entire backstory about how he used to be part of the Holy Empire and when he testified against some dude they killed his entire family and tells you that him and everyone else in Lostwing is preparing for all out war with the Holy Empire. They are simple side quests but every bit of writing in the game is so good it never even takes you out of it AND the option to quickly teleport back to the quest giver after completing the task is such a nice addition that every game should have
My only gripe with the game is that it felt like im playing FF14 most of the time especially the boss fights
I completely don't get it. I'm not a huge TCG guy and don't play any atm. I was actually hoping they would just make their custom starter packs for each game as they did originally. That was much more reasonable for a casual weekend collector/player. Will this be a gacha booster box made differently than normal and with a pool of 200 packed at random in fives? Sounds like it. This is how I see it: There's 200 normal cards and I'm assuming there's same 200 in premium and the same 200 in premium premium + 3 cards extra (WoL, Yuna and random crystal). The box would have 20 packs of 5, so 100 in total. Plus extra 3. 20 of the 100 would be premium or premium premium. If they are indeed the most popular ones from competitive market, active players will probably have them and so will the whale collectors. Many of both types of people will have the regular premium of those. So basically it's a way to sell the 200 most popular cards in meta in their new premium premium rarity at slightly better rate than a regular booster pack. Each pack can have any of the 200, so with some real bad luck, one would get 20 same new premium cards. Or 20 old premium cards which were in the market for some time already. To get all 200 unique cards, a person would need to spend a small fortune on the big boxes and still hope they get lucky. It's also probably a limited-time offer, so whatever you miss now, you miss forever unless you pay extra on ebay. Normal versions and regular premiums will most likely be dupes and get sold or at least oversaturate the market and thus, cause their market value to drop quite significantly. Am I wrong and how much am I wrong?
Oh nooooooo I missed it 😭
Think I might hop on tonight for a little more.
@ that would be awesome! I was just super busy yesterday and forgot 😅
It sucks. The end.
Replaying it now after a year of putting it down. Now I remember how damn fun it is. Incredible design and polished finish. One of my favorites in the series ❤️!!!!!!!!
Yes
A lot of people who talk on this game never even played it less than fifty percent of players actually beat the game I finished every quest and thought it was amazing
I was waiting for the game to go in this direction, you hit Zigaphart for 10% damage, Zigaphart hit you for 12% damage, F that !!
I was disappointment with story and gameplay. No magic, it feels like Demon souls wack a mole. Stats where just to think that they have some impact, they where only there for "show". Only thing got it right is Cid. CID was awesome.
The characters are great but the side quests are lame busywork with minimal interactivity and the game starts off as a political story about revenge but then turns into a typical JRPG story about killing god. The boss fights and soundtracks are amazing.
Top 5 FFs for me
The fact that this is an action game is actually the reason I love it, I always loved the lore of final fantasy games but I always wised they were action games, FF16 delivered hard for me, I also love how op Clive is
I think if they allowed you to transform in the open world spaces and run around and fight would had made it more fun instead of limiting it to scripted events. And even allowing weapons and equipment to give more stats wise so you can feel more godlike in the game. Ultimately the game took the same direction as ff13 its a giant corridor that goes in one direction. Ff12 was a good base they should have worked a bit as that with a starting point and improve everything to embrace the new storyline.
I feel like anyone who tries to argue that 16 feels like final fantasy needs to give us some background on what their experience is with the series because whether you loved the game or hated it; it definitely does not.
Nice to hear about KH 358 Days also! 😃 the KH Melon Mix github released version 0.5.2 last month too. But version 0.4.5 is the lastest "stable" release if needed? And in my experience its best gameplay/fullscreen capture settings were achieved by opening the NVIDIA Control Panel app, and in MANAGE 3d Settings -> Global Settings -> Preferred graphics processor, having it set as "High-performance NVIDIA processor" rather than just as "Auto-select" because otherwise my driver auto-selecting just my computer's "integrated graphics" for it wasn't enough gpu for my obs to capture the gameplay footage last year... So I had to force it to use my rtx 3060 for "a DS game" 😆
Oh shoot maybe I should do a test stream to make sure everything works properly
@@davidblainescharizard just now, I sent you some extra few recommendations for setting up Melon Mix that their gitHub guide doesn't cover lol
oh you're already to the Rikku reunion cool. Nice job scoring all those affection points with Lulu tho! Could do the same with Rikku if chatting her enough before leaving Guadosalam. But it might cutoff the other girl's affection convo options if you already scored the confession points with one girl first (i.e. Lulu)? Rikku's affection points dialog was a bit awkward if I recall considering how much younger she is than Lulu tho LOL XD
Interesting! I remember there being an affection system but I'm not sure what scenes it effects cuz of the whole Tidus and Yuna pairing.
It's a great game, people have just become too critical. Everyone thinks they are a critic now and don't just enjoy stuff for what they are meant to be. Great story and yes a few things could have been added or changed to make it even better but still great overall
Really good video, thanks for shining spotlight at some of those games!
How come every good game gets so much hate when it first comes out lol
16 is the worst mainline Final Fantasy game. Its barely an RPG and its not even a JRPG.
Trails Through Daybreak: 80 Hours Yeah if you’re only doing the story. My run was around 150
Just finished it and loved it. Wish it was a little harder on first playthrough. Way better than 15
Unicorn Overlord isn't an Atlus game, it's published by SEGA & Atlus, which is why there's the Atlus logo on the cover, but it has not been developped by them. The game's dev studio is Vanillaware, the devs who made 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim for exemple.
The people that have this game by default, it's a skill issue. They can't combo.
most viewed stream in the last two weeks?! 😆 if this becomes a series including og Separate Ways, we'll never get back to Kingdom Hearts til 2026 🥲
@KHhero lol Nah, we gotta keep moving! Sometimes youtube recommends the streams after the live and they do get a few extra clicks but it always seems kinda random. Probably just Leon's sexy face working it's magic in the thumbnail.
I was watching Maximilian_dood's playthrough of the game awhile back, but the moment he started skipping dialogue is when I stopped watching. I agree with much of your criticism about the game. In the pursuit of being an DMC-like action game, they abandoned too much of what makes an RPG fun. Gear largely doesn't matter, exploration largely doesn't matter, side quests are unrewarding except for additional lore. No party members. FF16 is basically a modern, 3D version of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Hard to disagree with anything you said. It's a great game, a good final fantasy game and compared to 15 it's really a complete package. But in the late 90's and begin 2000 Final Fantasy used to set a standart for RPG's and 16 is just an amazing story with awesome battles.
I’m currently wrapping up the first Like A Dragon (it’s really good btw) so I can finally jump into Infinite Wealth, which is supposed to be even better. The writing is just so clever, the story has a perfect blend of soap-operatic drama and irreverent humor, and the characters are so well developed and likable - Ichiban Kasuga is easily one of my favorite game characters ever, although that said he’s a bit of an early-40s manchild so he’s easy to relate to. 😂 Highly recommended if you find the time!
Damn you've got me sold! Everything I've heard about it sounds like it would be my next favorite game. I've just been holding off cuz I think I wanna do a full game stream of it after I beat FFX
Do I spy…Loveless?!! ❤️🔥
braindead easy, no QoL run button and being forced to walk slowly killing off the speedruns for it day 1 for me atleast. overall, very mid, but good at the same time, its a very mixed bag and rebirth blew this shit out of the water, so eh. not sure. I initially liked, and now I dont as much. -- Overall I feel the game was definitely made by the B team of square and the A team created Rebirth and fixed all my complaints + added all the best shit at the same time making it the best FF since FFX since then.
Tbh Neptunia is one of the most fun jrpg franchises (if you only count the mainline games) Some games are light-hearted and others will just crash your heart (mk2 and vii) Also the games don't really focus much on the fan service especially in the early games, heck they make fun of it most of the time. The best way to describe it is the Shoujo version of Gintama.
What do you think the best game is to get started with the series? I've been aware of it for a while, but there are a lot of games!
The mainline games are Neptunia 1,mk2, Victory and vii. The original 3 are for the ps3 however there are ps vita/pc ports of the games called the re birth trilogy in my opinion that's the best way to play those games the only downside about them and especially re birth 1 is that the story is completely different from the original but the gameplay is superior. There is also a ps5 port of re birth 1 called Neptunia re verse which in my opinion is the best way to experience the game. Now if you want to see the whole series start with re birth 1/re verse, if you want to check the best of the franchise vii is the one to go (but you will also have a lot of questions about the world if you just jump straight to that one) I didn't want to make it this long but i hope i helped without confusing you too much :P
It's an odd one because having played all 3, I can't think of anything that dmc5 or god of war did better than this game. The only issue I see holding it back is that the final fantasy community is stuck in two camps, a small community of mmorpg players and 40 year old men who can't accept the series hasn't been turn based for half their life. I think the only problem this game has is the baggage it carries with the final fantasy title
Yep.. Emerald Saga. Good luck to me getting back to that or importing a hard copy 😅
Final fantasy XVI is great game it was trampled by Baldur's Gate 3 but it doesn't mean it's bad game. I actually recommend it to be played if you haven't already.
the game is amazing that how they imagined it since the 90's now they made it people get spoiled and picky .
i finished this game on pc when it came out(didnt play the dlcs) and i cannot tell you how much i despised it. its not just the side quests, for me it was everything. the world seemed cool but everytime when something interesting happened be it in a side quest or main quest story wise, the game would immediately deflate the situation with some cringe cartoonish evil shit that just ruined the mood. i didnt like the characters at all, cid was fine but underused and clive is generic. the combat even tho extremely easy it was really fun but too bad that the combat was like 20% of the game the rest being talking and cutscenes , cutscnes that were just cringe most of the time and uninteresting. i think the highlight of the game and the only good parts were the bosses, no not the kaiju battle those were mega booring bar the spectacle, the normal bosses where you fight as a human. the enemy gauntlets were broing repetitive and mindless but the boss fights were really fun
FF16 is a masterclass of a game and currently in my top 5 greatest final fantasy games ever.
Having a early midlife crisis when Im starting to yo realize i may not live long enough to ever finish my entire backlog of games.....😢
Ohh noooo! You'll get em done, man. there's still time!
I have 15 years worth of backlog of anime and 10 years worth of backlog of games yeah not going to happen in this life
i’m shocked a jrpg didn’t win goty in a yr that i feel they carried. either way it’s been a great yr for the genre
True! This genre went hard this year. It's cool to see Metaphor grabbing up a lot of awards though. I just picked that one up too so I'm really looking forward to it. I love Atlus rpgs and it did seem pretty good from the demo.
A good game that shouldn't have been a mainline number release. It's an action game with almost no RPG mechanics. Visually stunning, yet virtually vapid.
waste of time.
surely u don't mean all of these games ?
@ intentionally padded out genre to create the illusion of ‘value’.
@chunkymilk i agree, yeah. although i still like many of the games in the genre
You wanna see a real waste of time you should see how many hours I've got in smash bros ultimate
Ys X western localization came out this year too, phenomenal game
Cant believe i missed that one! So far the only Ys I've played was VIII but that one was really good
8:20 I only played Neptunia Rebirth 1 and 2 so far, and they're a "Turn your brain off" games for me. They're enjoyable, and have a charm I can't explain, but only if you find the character designs appealing. Some off them are too much for me, though... Anyway, the Conquest ending of Neptunia 2 (the darkest ending in my opinion) still lives in my mind today.
Missed Ys Nordics, Romancing Saga 2 Revenge of the Seven, and Mario and Luigi…which would add about 120-130 hours to your total playtime
Oh shit! I knew about the other two but I didn't notice there was a new Ys as well? It's too much! 😆
Persona 3's remake and GBF Relink were honestly all I needed to consider 2024 hella memorable. Relink might still be my favorite combat next to Monster Hunter out of any action combat, even NieR. Then we got Metaphor and Unicorn Overlord, holy hell. I'm still playing the PSN releases of Front Mission, yet they keep rolling out PS1-PS2 remakes and it's melting my face.
Also, no Vagrant Story under your belt? Are you a masochist?
Oh nice! Didn't realize the combat was such a draw for Granblue Fantasy that's got me more interested for sure. Vagrant Story is one of the last big rpgs from that era I'm missing out on but soon!
it need more aggressive ai enemies
I haven't played every Final Fantasy, but I've played a lot of them. There seems to be a pattern of the first 1/3 of the game having a very strong story because you're fighting against society, but the writers eventually realize that you can't defeat society, so they introduce a big bad guy who can be killed for the sake of winning the game, and that's when the story suffers.
This game was a 10/10 experience for me while I was playing it. It didn't lose points until after the ending credits and a sober reflection and dissection in retrospect. But who cares at that point?
