So excited to see you’re picking up The Girl on the Train! 🥳 I hope you enjoy it 🧡🍁🍂 I’m working through my fall tbr right now, currently reading Carmilla! Loving it 🧛🏻♀️
Omg girl I binged it! It was a good intro/beginner thriller book for me (not too scary). Ooh, Carmilla looks spooky! Perfect for the fall 👻🍂

Welcome!!! 👋👋
Hhaha the snap transition to cozy fall vibes was perf. So many of these are on my TBR as well! Look forward to hearing what you think
🍂🍁May we get through our TBR this fall season!!! 🍂
I have a few spooky-ish book recommendations for you! - The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware - Any book by Kiersten Modglin - We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer - The Family Game by Catherine Steadman
Thank you!! I assume these won't be tooooo scary???
@@jodieslibrary Nooo! The scariest is probably We Used to Live Here, but the others are more thrilling page-turners! Kiersten Modglin's books are also quite short, so you won't have to suffer the adrenaline too-too long haha
@@cIaimthestars Haha, perfect!! Just checking - I don't mind too much thrill & adrenaline, just can't handle gore/horror-like elements but these sound right up my spook(ish) alley! Thank you so much for the reccs!

even tho it fell flat lolol
@@daltonkonnor Aw thank you! 🌼LOL There's definitely a divide on the sentiment for the people who have read it. It fell flat for me, but some people really like it! I hope she enjoys it!
I’m considering getting The God and the Gumiho. The only thing stopping me from buying this book, is the romance. I stop reading romance because I have K-Drama for that.
LOL you're not wrong, the romance in k-drama is *chefs kiss* I will say I actually liked The God and the Gumiho for the story & Korean elements rather than the romance subplot!
@@jodieslibrary the story and Korean elements is the going to be the deciding factor. I might borrow a copy of this book from the library but as for my collection that. Remains to be seen. PS. I bought the two books and read the “Welcome to Welcome to Hyunam-dong” I’m with you on your opinions about this book.
@@RagingDrone Yes! We love our libraries! I do that for books I just want to test out too. So happy to hear that you picked up ‘Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop’!

Oops! Sorry about that, should've had the books front & center. Here are the titles & authors though! 1. This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone 2. Your cats are so cute 🥹🫶 I usually get up at 7am to read before work and even that is tough for me so I can’t imagine 5am 😮💨
the gremlins say thank you! And omg it was a struggle... 7am sounds way more realistic... 5am was do-able for a week but not long-term I think 😂
Do you drink your coffee black?? Also i wanna try this challenge but i work 3rd shift at the hospital..so..if i have a day off i can maybe wake up at noon...that would be equivalent to your 5am i think 😊 great video!
I drink it black when I'm at home! I like to get the specialty espresso drinks (which are usually sweet) at coffee shops. Ooo those hours are rough - I would say, time of day shouldn't matter - whatever gets you to sit down and read 🤩
You've inspired me

Iced coffee? Gurl! I once tried iced coffee and never tried it again. Unless it’s like really really hot then I’ll put one ice cube to cool it down.
@@Tiara48z gurl!! It does the trick when you need to wake up 😅 or on a hot summer day….
I think you should read the book. The 5 am club since you have been well! Lol
@@RagingDrone Touché! That would’ve been extremely meta, reading 5am club at 5am 🤣
@@jodieslibraryto be fair, now that I think about it, I don’t put sugar or any sweeteners in my coffee because apparently sugar undoes the caffeine. I take it with granola bars instead to make my coffee bearable. So maybe ice coffee is not that bad😂.
@@jodieslibraryyou’re even prettier in glasses

Not sure if you’re going to like this but my older sister gave me this book to read. She told me here bozo something to read throws the book “The promise” by Daniel Steel. Maybe you would like it. This is an old book though. I’m a but hesitant to pick up romance books but im taking a swing at it next month.
That book seems to have some good reviews on GoodReads! Romance books are nice pick-me-ups at times!
@@jodieslibrary there was a movie adaptation on it but it was back on the 70’s or 80s. Stop reading romance when I started watching Kdramas.
Enjoyed it! I’m going to check out the Cloud Cuckoo Land. Not sure if Stand or B&N has it. 😐

I will put 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' on my wish list. By the way, you are a striking lookalike to a friend of mine. I honestly thought you were her for a moment.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Haha, I have a doppelgänger?! That's exciting 🤣
I agree that you have to be in a certain headspace to read it. I read this book in my 20s when I was suffering from depression and could see Holden's need for company and grief for his brother. I still remember how he felt he was becoming (invisible? don't exactly remember) when he was crossing the street near the end because I felt the same way. And I feel people who call this book a red flag don't really understand it. One needs to look past Holden's phoniness and see that he needed help. And let's not forget, the book was published after the second world war, so it's really a very sad book.
I'm glad you were able to connect with Holden during a tough time in your life. There's a reason why it's an appraised novel - it was definitely an impressive book for its time. For me, the beauty of the book is that so many different people can feel differently about it!
You might like cloud Atlas since you loved cloud cuckoo land!
Ooo I saw the movie awhile back but haven’t read the book, I’ll add to my want to read ty girlie 😉
YESSS COLLEEN
LOL you're her biggest fan 🤣
So, I can understand people not relating to Holden in this book, but I think the criticism a lot of readers give this book with Holden coming off as whiny and annoying really shows sort of the hypocrisy and social privelege some of have. This is a character who is spiralling with mental health problems and grieving. This is a very raw portayal of not angst but anger and being lost. Yet, people just say he complains. The narration has a lot of accountability and isn't pretending to be virtuous. Feeling loneliness and grief and depression (when he hears people laughing on the sidewalk half a mile away and it depresses him). This is relatable. And so i find it funny that a strong voice who is going through existential problems isn't more sympathetic with some people. I personally think that people want to hate Holden because thet view him as a priveleged male. If you look at ither reviewers, this cones up a bunch. But yeah, criticizing society and dealing with loneliness and procrastinating incoming bad news isn't just a kid thing. The socal privilege thing I mentioned earlier is because this book is riddled with the theme of loneliness and death. I think people who have always had a good support structure would label him as annoying but for me the voice is effective. Anyways, to each their own, but it's definitely a book I think lingers with those that may veer on the negative side. Not to say that's healthy, but it is powerful and authentic.
