Kwathu ku Mulangeni
KWATHU KU MULANGENI. From Mulangeni Village in the Mangochi Region of Malawi.
The band... MULANGENI SOUNDS.
I previously noted that the song was composed by band member Chris Shishimbi but Kwathu ku Mulangeni was composed earlier by Harry Selemani as this email from Lusayo Mwanguku explains..."The Mulangeni songs such as 'kwathu kumlangeni ,juju ,namwali and chambo were composed by Mr Selemani between the years 1986 and 1992 on appraisal. Chishimbi and his bandmates from Democratic Republic of Congo came here in 1994. He found the songs already in music industry. Some of his bandmates returned to their home country but Chishimbi and his close friend the late Pepe stayed behind and reestablished Mulangeni band after the original men (eg Seleman ) had passed away."

Who's the artist?
Hi Moses. Shimbi who wrote the song plays many of the instruments on the recording. I think Prince Martin is the singer. The band practices in Maldeco village and they perform in the Mangochi region. You might see them at Zitherapano. There are two other songs you may have seen.."Chidule" and "Gule Wanji" (an earlier song by Shimbi) Zikomo Kwambiri !
