This past weekend, Suzanne headed out on her second adventure with her teardrop camper to Kettle Creek State Park near Renovo, Pennsylvania. I stopped by on the Vespa GTS for an afternoon visit, and Suz showed me around. Vespa Ride to Pennsylvania’s Linn Run State Park
มุมมอง 1.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
A ride from Zion to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to meet up with my friends Justin and Alex. From Johnstown we then rode west to Linn Run State Park as a scouting mission for the Rust Belt Rollers annual scooter rally, “Tetanus!” Justin was aboard his Honda Monkey. Alex rode his Honda Super Cub (which he successfully used in last year’s Scooter Cannonball). I rode my Vespa GTS.

My logo and illustration process for Johnstown, Pennsylvania’s Rust Belt Rollers…the baddest scooter club east of the Conemaugh River. This project is near and dear to my heart, as I spent many of my childhood years growing up in this tough industrial town. Ride to Pennsylvania’s “Top of the World” on my Vespa GTS

A ride to Pennsylvania’s Bucktail Overlook, also known as the “Top of the World,” located in Driftwood. I took the long way, even cutting through State Game Lands near Farrandsville. My favorite part of the trip was the beautiful views of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, and I followed its meandering path all the way from Lock Haven to Emporium, where I stopped to fuel up.

I took the long way to Tom & Joe’s Diner in Altoona, following Route 53 most of the way from Moshannon, Pennsylvania. A vintage Richfield sign caught my eye as I rode my Vespa GTS through the small town of Hudson, just outside of Philipsburg. I’m a big fan of vintage design and Americana, so I stopped for a closer look. As luck would have it, the owner-Jeff Mitchell-noticed me admiring the exte...

Snowy Ride Home from Kissell Motorsports on my Vespa GTS

Kissell Motorsports, located in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, did some service work on my GTS this week. They replaced my cutch assembly, drive belt, bushings, as well as installed two new City Grip tires. I was thrilled at the quick turnaround, and Suzanne drove me the 40 miles or so to pick it up. As you will see, the returning ride home to Bellefonte was filled with a nice mix of wintry conditions. ...
February Ride to Lewistown, Pennsylvania on my Vespa GTS

I took a ride today on my Vespa GTS from Zion to Lewistown, Pennsylvania and met my wife there for lunch and to do some exploring. Congrats on the new Vespa....love the color 🤩
There nice.would not wanna do any long road trips on one but very nice thanks john
This is very well done
Have you considered making a turn-by-turn road list or GPX direction file of your travels for others to use?
Viewers have to wade through all the unwanted annoying music. Exiting out. Music ruined it.
Thanks for the feedback, Jay. I make the videos to suit my own tastes and enjoyment. I wish you well.
@heckadude I like it - you have much better taste than many other TH-cam creators.
I would much rather listen to the motor then that god awful music
Thanks for the feedback, Carl. I make the videos to suit my own tastes and enjoyment. I wish you well.
Hey, Andy, I enjoyed this video, and I am working my way through the others. I just found your TH-cam site, not sure how I missed it before this, but I'm grateful for the inspiration and will probably work you for some of your experience and skills to apply to my work. Thanks!
Hey Bob! Great seeing you on here and thanks for the kind words. Feel free to ask away anytime!
were you screaming yahoooooooooo all the way in you helmet ?
You know it!!! 😂
Too bad you didn’t stop at Hyner view It’s impressive.
@@John-yf6iw you’re right, Hyner is a beautiful spot. Here’s a link to a video I shot of Hyner a few years ago: th-cam.com/video/CC5bW8WH8Zs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Jj9JgU7aeW5juTH2
Andy, thanks for posting that. I enjoyed the ride too. "Rob"?
@@rechard-jb9cr Rob, it was nice meeting you and hearing about some of your adventures. I’m grateful to Paul for organizing our ride.
I missed a great ride. Glad I could make it virtually. Another fine video Andy!
@@ScooterintheSticks We always miss you when you can’t join us, Steve. Hopefully soon you’ll be back out there with us!
Hey! I've eaten at the breakfast stop! What a great ride to the flea market. It's good to see you enjoying your new Vespa! 🛵💨
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures Yes you have, Eric. That means Steve and Paul must have given you the royal treatment! Yes, it’s been great to get back into my riding routine. 🙌
Wow, the market was PACKED! It is a really nice ride from State College to Belleville- did it multiple times last weekend (sadly in my car), but I did ride the trails and around Belleville on my dual sport. Good to see some other riders going along with you. Looked like a nice day out! Unfortunately, I am never in Belleville during the week, only occasional weekends.
@@joeln6861 The market always seems to be hopping with activity. It’s such a cool place and Belleville and the surrounding area are truly beautiful. I’m glad you’ve been able to enjoy it as well on your dual sport!
Installing curb feelers are like putting a wicker basket top box on a Vespa or Denali lights on a GS - instant street cred 😂
Oh yes wicker basket. When you buy your first Vespa, you have to fight the urge to put a wicker basket on it, and then put a bottle of red wine and a baguette in it.
@@peaceandcalm-paulruby9304 The wicker basket, lovingly termed "the wine and cheese package" by some. The urge is strong!
@@peaceandcalm-paulruby9304 I've still got one in the garage. It used to be on the back of my Ural sidecar.
@@WorkInProgress139 Haha, good call! I’m sure you’ve seen the Vespa Pic Nic model that came out a year or so ago: a Primavera complete with picnic basket and rolled up blanket. No curb feelers, though. 😜
@@heckadude Dude. A Pic Nic in Verde Relax is about as good as Vespa’s get!
Enjoy. I sold mine really fast because of the steering wobble and not so smooth engine at high speed.
Thanks, Max. Sorry to hear the GTS isn’t for you. Any other bikes you prefer?
@@heckadude Yes. The new BMW R12 is the next thing im buying with two wheels.
Nice video
Thanks!
The soundtrack makes the video like a 1960s TV show.
Yeah, I’m a child of the 70’s and those cop shows were my favorite. 😂
It doesn’t matter what you ride, a long as you ride.
It’s always exciting to get new bike🎉 and heartbroken to say goodbye to old one😢 Enjoy your ride in beautiful state with new Vespa and I’m expecting your video!
So true, Perfectly. I'm hoping to get my old one fixed up, but in the meantime, I will be enjoying the new SS. Thanks for the kind words and for following along!
Felicitation! It is a fantastic bike. Already out over 5k on my 2024. Brilliant fun. ❤
Outstanding, Hedgehog! You are really racking up the miles. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself and appreciate the kind words about my new SS.
The keyless key should stay in your pocket 😂
Right you are, turns out I had to do the unthinkable and read the manual. 🤪
Im research Vespa. Is this one the 150 or the 300. The color you have is the one I want. Very nive video. Thanks
Very cool, Ray. This is the 300. We've got some hills in our area that need a little extra oomph, so I opted for something larger. I like the color scheme, too! Thanks for following along and best wishes as you do your research.
0:50 I love roads like this and the fog 😍

Enjoy the new machine.
@@kz1000st1 thanks, Jimmy. It’s lived up to the hype so far!

@@KrakensGarageandAdventures thanks so much, Eric. You’ll have to take it for a spin sometime soon!
That’s one handsome machine. For a moment I thought you were going to to work!😂
@@ScooterintheSticks thanks, Steve. I considered it until I remembered Ruby’s words of wisdom: SCREW WORK! 😂
Is it for disabled riders as you’re parked in a disabled bay ☺️
@@lomate1963 I’m not sure what accommodations Piaggio may make for disabled riders. Great question, though. This bay is where my new bike was parked for me to pick up. You’re literally watching my first ride, just like it says in the title. Thanks for watching!
not a nice comment from viewer.😮
Get real your joke
best of luck on your new ride. May you have many miles of safe happiness.
@@iggyzorro2406 thanks, Iggy. I’m hoping a laid back approach and good fortune will allow just that. Much appreciated!
You need to enable/turn on the key fob. It will work in your pocket just fine once you do that. The tiny rfid key requires being close always
I think you just hold the two buttons on the fob and the light blinks or something
@@IowaLR4 Thanks! My first impulse was to twist the button, but have since learned to slow down…push it in…wait for the hello on the dash…hold the fob to the front panel…and THEN I get message saying I can twist the button. I was being impatient, as usual.
@@heckadude Ya.. that is true, but my point is that the key fob with two buttons can be activated or deactivated. You currently have it deactivated which is why you have to touch it to the knee panel. If you activate it, it will work from like 5 feet away.. or in your pocket, etc without touching it to that sensor pad area. (So, "passive recognition" is what you have now vs "piaggio keyless" once you turn it on. From the manual: To activate or deactivate the remote control, press the Bike Finder button "A" and within 5 seconds also the seat opening button "B" until the color of the LED on the remote control changes. When the LED on the remote control turns green, the authentication of the "Piaggio Keyless" system can be performed. If the LED turns red, authentication cannot be performed. If the remote control is not recognized, it is recommended to repeat the activation and authentication procedure. If the lock persists, it is necessary to make a new attempt with passive recognition.
@@IowaLR4 Thanks for the explanation, Iowa. You are exactly right. I was beginning to think this keyless thing would be a major PITA. As it turns out, not having to pull the keys out each time is kind of nice, especially if I'm already wearing gloves or my keys are zipped up in a hard-to-reach spot. Thanks for your comments and for following along!
@@heckadude I don’t really make videos, so maybe a good quick video you could make so people know about it. Or at least maybe a mention on your next video. I love my 2023 GTS 300 Super. I have a rear rack and vespa top case. Very comfortable back rest for 2 up rides. We also have a 2023 Primavera 150 that my wife rides. Ride safe!
What is different from the old one, no commentary at all.
@@stevewzorn hey there, Steve. I don’t do much commentary if at all on my videos. So far, the biggest differences I’ve noticed so far are 1) how buttery smooth the new SS is on both the turns and the suspension 2) the keyless ignition. So far, I’d prefer a traditional key but I’m open to the possibility that I need to expand my horizons. Thanks for watching and I hope you come back in the future!
Oooee! We can't talk to you! I stopped in that exact spot under the bridge two weeks ago to take photo of the bridge.
@@peaceandcalm-paulruby9304 And here I was patting myself on the back for such an original spot…I chuckled to myself that only the eye of an artist could identify such a photogenic locale! Those aesthetic pretenders don’t stand a chance against a spot like this! And then, Paul, you go and burst my bubble! 🤪
I have the same exact one I love it. I hope you enjoy yours.
@@AngelTorres-zf7dd outstanding, Angel. We obviously have great taste! Thank you and I hope you do as well!
