Cecil Fielder clears left field roof at Tiger Stadium.

Oakland A's vs. Detroit Tigers 8/25/90. Cecil Fielder was the third player, and only Detroit Tiger, to homer over TIger Stadium's left field roof. Harmon Killebrew (1962) and Frank Howard (1968) accomplished it before him, and Mark McGwire was the fourth and last player to homer over the roof in left field in 1997.

Do we even count Roid McGwire?
The wild and crazy bleacher creatures had the best view of it.
Reggie hit the light tower,it what of cleared the roooof
Cecil Fielder was like Aaron Judge in his era.. Not nearly as good mind ya, but in raw power they are similar for the same reasons. Both were just very large human beings. That's why they hit long home runs.
after we lost kirk gibson , cecil was out hero
I remember seeing this on Sports Center right after it happened. I was in the third grade at the time.
Al Kaline had more shots at putting in on the roof than ANYBODY
Dave Stewart was a SCARY mammajamma.
When baseball was baseball
Like the great killebrew. I think Killebrews went to the lumberyard across the street.
Stewart was an elite starting Pitcher here but that pitch was over-the- plate fast ball to Fielder ??? Walk Him . #45 was a an athletic marvel
Fielder had to shit on Mark McGwire…..
This is one of those special moments in Baseball regardless of what team you follow. Just have to smile.
Had to stop and watch. I remember seeing it on sportscenter the next day...
one of prettiest homerun ever at tiger stadium
cecil fielder knock baseout on the roof on left side tiger stadium
I thought Rupert Jones hit one out of the stadium in ‘84
so THAT'S how they unloaded it
No, that was how they unloaded it and many other freighters before self-uloading equipment became the norm, those are Hullett unloaders, big and scary machines, now long gone.
@@bluerazor7049 oh ok
what a monster at the plate with a fearsome stance
It's nice to watch some baseball on my tv (via computer) that doesn't have that F'ing strikezone box annoying the Sh-t out of me! I don't mind pertinent stats on the screen, away from the action but putting that box right in the heart of the action destroys the natural feeling for the game. I feel like I'm watching a video game. It really sucks and I hope some day networks come to their bloody senses and get rid of the damn thing!
That Detroit team was so fun to watch.
I miss America before it became a 3rd world sh@thole.
1:55 more like...
At The Corner
If that was me, after I saw that foul tip power swing, he would’ve never seen anything else in the zone the rest of the day. esp with the score that close
Cecil did forget to do a few things. He forgot to stand at home plate for a few seconds and watch the ball go then to walk real slow and spike is bat looking to the dugout and make gestures at his teammates then he should have pirouetted going down the first base and ran really slow around the bases while pointing towards the sky and rounded third base taking his helmet off halfway before he came home where he should have done a flying chest bump into a crowd of his teammates
It’s beautiful to see a Tigers game packed. wtf happened
I was surprised Cecil didn't have a beer belly. I only remember him as a big dude.
I love how the camera guy just assumes it’s going into the seats then “ where the hell is that ball?”
No roids required
Cecil Fielder also hit one completely out of County Stadium, the home of the Milwaukee Brewers, before Miller Park opened. He is the only one to hit one out of that stadium.
Frank Howard did that decades ago.
Its still America's past time!
The pitcher: "It's 3-1. Gotta throw a fastball for a strike. " Fielder: It's 3-1. Gotta throw a fastball for a strike. "
I tell my baseball friends how much I miss the game from the 80s and 90s. Then I tell my hockey friends how much I miss the NHL from the 80s and 90s. And the same with my NFL friends. Is it me, or was it all just more entertaining, more colorful, more fun back then?
Corked Bat !! I Help Him !!
Dammit Ai. I KNOW how to spell and compose. Honest I'm not illiterate.
July 1992 Cleveland Municipal Stadium. It was turn back the clock game between the Tigers and Indians. 1932 replica uniforms. 8th inning Albert Belle hits a multi run home run to give the Tribe the lead. I'm in section 37, halfway up the lower deck and here comes Cecil to the plate. Tattoos a ball hit so hard, it went way over my head like a Lazer shot to the upper rows of the lower deck. Anyone else would of hit the upper deck on a deep fly or just over the fence. This was memorable, Tigers win with an incredible display by Mr Fielder. Fast forward several years and MTV used to have the Rock a d Jock celebrity softball game for lots of fun. Low and behold Cecil comes to the plate and launches a missed. He proclaims this as a tribute to Jimmy Piersall by running the bases backwards ( Piersall did do for his 100th homer)...except Cecil got his wires crossed and ran backwards to 3rd, 2nd, 1st and back home. Oh well, good times by all...Cecil, Mackey Tettleton and Rob Deervall had my respect. 😅
I was born in the D, sure miss the old tiger stadium 😢
Will never forget in 1964 when Edward Doyle hit one over both the Little League and the Pony League parks.
So you’re like 70 years old commenting on TH-cam videos. My grandpa would be shaking his head at you (if he weren’t dead)
0:37 Tony larussa's arms look like he has tattoo sleeves, but they are just hairy af.😂
Mark McGwire looking real skinny over at first base
Today that Homer would of gotten a golfer clap at best. Baseball will never be the same as the 70s 80s early 90s. Erie Harwell we miss you.
that was a nice stadium. too bad they saw fit to tear it down. they'll tear down the statue of liberty next. put up a bigger and better statue of liberty. thank you, but no thank you.
Only 4 people in history have hit a homerun over the left field roof in Tiger Stadium. They are Harmon Killibrew, Big Daddy Cecil Fielder, Boog Powell, and Big Mac Mark McGwire. 2 of those are in this video. There have been a little over 40 to clear the field field roof. I believe Bobby Bonilla was the last to do it.
What did Stewart think about it?
Wow! So it had been 21-22 years since someone had belted a homer over the stadium wall? Wow!!
I was at this game. Just a few rows up on the third base line. Loved that ballpark.
Love how Cecil had the Top Buttons undone on the Jersey. Big Man, puttin' in Work, on a Hot Summers Day in Detroit!
0:38 how is McGwire in the dugout and first base 1:17 😂
