Canada Day Weekend in Rainy Lake, Newfoundland Trout fishing off grid 2024
Well here we are back to our annual off grid trout fishing trip in Rainy Lake. This trip was cut a couple days short due to foggy and windy weather conditions but it was a fantastic trip nonetheless.

The coyote breeding season is just around the corner and the conditions were too good to ignore on this crispy morning. About 15 minutes into the stand I get a response from a pair just a couple hundred yards away from my location. I sat tight and continued calling for 45 minutes to see if they would show. But unfortunately that did not happen.

As a passionate bowhunter since 2016, my Dad and I were both fortunate enough to draw either sex caribou tags for Area 64 Middle Ridge. We never got the kill on video sadly, but after several stalks on numerous stags from Dad and I finally this beautiful 27 pointer still in velvet gave me a perfect broadside shot at 42 yards and hit both lungs to put him down cleanly!

My first video in a few months, but the spring black bear season is on here in Newfoundland! The weather was perfect to be in the woods so I took advantage of the gorgeous weather we had today and set out two bear baits. I'll be checking them in about 10 days time.

After 2 morning sets with no action and a bit of sign. I returned to an area where I always saw fresh tracks just about every morning I went to call. After 52 minutes in the stand finishing it with pup distress 3, this female came in on a string around 6:10 in the evening and gave me the perfect shot presentation to put her down cleanly. My first kill for my channel has finally happened!

I know I've been gone for a while but we have had absolutely miserable winter weather which made things difficult for me to bring more videos. Having said that it's spring black bear season here in Newfoundland and I decided to take you all along for a day of setting up the bait and some work on the tree stand.

After over a week or so from hunting this spot I thought about returning after what todays conditions were calling for. About 40 mins into the set, I get a response from what I assumed was the same coyote that I fired at last week, after he howled back I went silent for about 5-6 mins but he refused to commit. Not that year, the last couple years have been slow also. But I’ll be filming one this spring and fall. Bear hunting is one of my favourite hunts also.

Be careful handling ya cameras after putting the baits out. Non-scented hand sanitizer works good before touching either one of ya cameras

Dandy vid. That 1st one was a nice colour hey. I did this last winter and it played over n over in my head for a couple months after. Very disheartening. I was at about the same distance or less and I think I shot over him due to being so close. Went to range few days later and my rifle was spot on. I feel your pain 🤣, I really do. Keep at it. It will come and when it do you need to make a pair of fur mitts out of em 🤣. Remember, there’s no such thing as a bad day in the woods 🤙🏻

O Lance!!!! That's heartbreaking I'm sure! Look at the size of him and his color! Did you even know they were in the area? I mean did they respond at all before you saw them? When you do get one it's gonna be much more exciting than any moose you ever got I can tell you that!

good luck with the 🐺 hunting, try snowshoe hare in distress call ,the howling calls work better during the breeding season around March month. 👍

Hang in there ! I see it’s tight cover there but try setting the caller where you can see their approach much better. I’ve also had them run after howling like that, I switched to growling at them, it works. Also shut the caller off before they pinpoint it if it’s still running. I don’t use a decoy anymore as they wouldn’t stop for the shot. Happy hunting to you 😃 !!

In some spots there are pockets of them, but the overall population in this province is not like what most people say it is IMO.
@@gibsonrocks212 I’ve seen some big tracks and the was a wolf spotted down Oliver’s RD. I seen a place today where they were eating a moose carcass but I have yet to see one
