    You should refit the parts referred to by Triumph as grease retainers which you say can be thrown away because they act as spacing shims for the bearings.

    I had a new one back in the day. Great bike but above 60 MPH the vibration will tire you out. Also, I had to carry extra light bulbs. The vibration would blow the tail light & then the headlight. Not great when riding at night. Super handling. I'm getting ready to buy a Royal Enfield 500 soon.

      I have both on my 1973 T140V. The choke definitely makes a difference on a cold day. The ticklers are SOP for all cold starts, regardless of of ambient temperature. I plan to post a video detailing the exact procedure.

    My TPMS light has been going on & off in my SC430 for a while now but it just started chiming every 5 minutes. Won't stop. Took it to the shop. Two sensors are bad & it will be over $500 to replace. Shop won't disarm the system as they say it's illegal. Ugh. I could deal with the light....never thought it would start beeping at me every 5 minutes.

    have to remove everything he reference in order to get everything out. You've just entered the seventh circle of hell. and next you then have to deal with the happy circumstance of trying to bleed the rear caliper. Make sure you have your lucky socks on for that. good luck

    • @mmark8394
      @mmark8394 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To bleed it tie it off, off the wheel so the nipple is high, place a packer in the caliper don't let it hang. On my t160 which is similar the centerstand will clout the cylinder and eventually wear the thread in the alloy master cyl , either trim the lug on the stand or remove it and weld a pad on it . Regarding the fitting the spring sit behind the bike with feet on the pegs and hook the spring and pull, it's a 2 man job, I got the wife to help me but she had an easier way, aussie women!

    • @rickconstant6106
      @rickconstant6106 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bleeding is fairly simple on the T140V, once you have pulled the wheel spindle out far enough to let the caliper hang from its torque stay - the nipple will then be at the top and you just need to put a spacer between the pads to stop the pistons pushing out during the process.

    • @steved5518
      @steved5518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Earlier t140s had the caliper on the bottom of the brake disc. Later ones had it located at the top. Clearly having the caliper on the low side made getting all the air out much more difficult. I found it can take three or four times to get it right. Each go-round requiring the installation of everything again and testing it out.

    • @rickconstant6106
      @rickconstant6106 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steved5518 I've had my T140V (with the underslung caliper) for 29 years, with a brake fluid change every year. In my experience, the worst part of it is getting clearance to pull the wheel spindle out, which involves either taking the left hand silencer off, or unbolting both shock absorbers so you can jack the swinging arm up. Once you've done that, the caliper is hanging in the right position and I've never had any problem bleeding it first time.

    • @steved5518
      @steved5518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip Rick. I' have the shorter silencers so that it does not interfere with the spindle. Nevertheless I've had the problem with air and spongy pedal. Totally rebuilt the system with new components. I'm sure lots of air. I'll give it another shot with your comments and perseverance in mind!
