Gen 2 Montero Pajero idler arm rebuild
Thought this would be good practice for making and editing videos, I'll get better maybe. Suggestions are appreciated and yes I know I'm choking that hammer, I couldn't find my stubby sledge which is normally what I like to use for steering work. Enjoy.

Hey Toasty, excellent informative vid. I was just about to install the ADD kit into my idler but then stopped when I heard you had bad experiences with the brass bushes. Any particular reason these seem to fail sooner? Is it due to their vibration damping characteristics vs poly/rubber (poly/rubber being better at damping vibrations). I held off on the install since I didn't want to waste my time installing brass of they're going to fail sooner than stock.

You're exactly right, now if you're 90% on the street you'll get good life out of them and the road feel is pretty good. I originally made those parts to help with longevity while running large tires, initially I felt it was the solution but ultimately went to polyurethane on my lighter wheeler and I just used the Duralast part on my more dedicated wheeler. With the Duralast part I could just warranty it out when it bent of became loose, I actually bought two in case I trashed one enough to need a fresh one for the drive home. Now, I'm on the extreme end of the spectrum so your results may not match so just be honest with yourself and your planned usage and select the best part for your application. FWIW I've since axle swapped my big truck so it doesn't have an idle arm any longer.

@@toastyfab123 thanks for the explanation! Yeah it seems that for a road car the brass would be best, so like my Trans Am for example would benefit. But off road vehicles experience much more jarring forces. I think the best course of action for me is to use Poly bushes and a chromoly idler, slap it together and send it!

Thanks for this video guys. How do you remove de front upper control arm, in the driver side? I have tried to do it, but after remove the 2 bolts the control arm hits the steerin colun, and i canot remove the upper control arm. In the passenger side, does not have problem, just remove 2 bolts. Do you have any ideia?

Draw a line on the steering shaft to mark the spline orientation, then remove the steering shaft. It should pop out then.
