This was my first attempt at an IDPA carbine match. The rifle is an 11.5” BCM, sporting my PTR Vent 3. I was shooting M193 55gr. Thank you E.L. for editing this video, enabling me to save face…. But we know the truth 🫣 I will say this though; I was asked by a teammate, if I was shooting 300blk subs. When I said no, he asked if I was shooting 5.56 subs. After I again said no. He told me that it ...

Great vid. Been waiting for vid just like this
Thank you!
1:16 sparrow 2:33 mask 3:50 SR
Thank you! I wish I knew how to do that
For informational purposes, this is a direct quote, from Diligent Defense: “Thanks for sending the video! The Road Hunter covers 22LR, .17HMR, & .22WMR. Full auto on 22LR. Semi Auto F.N 5.7, 17HMR, 22MAG, and other similar smaller calibers.” ****As far as I know, this is the only place you’ll see this information.*****
Those suppressors are all louder than my Sig 9mm suppressor on my 22/45 tactical pistol. It could have been the microphone on your camera though that fooled the video. Thanks for your video.
@@SavageVoyageur the video was taken on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. It did not clip the microphone, and it was within arms length away. Your Sig 9mm suppressor may be quieter, but, these suppressors are thin enough to not obstruct your sights, and light enough to be comfortable. My Rugged Obsidian 9 will work, but it’s not ideal.
My new favorite channel! I can't tell them apart.
Wow 🤩 Thank you for the high praise!
is this suppressor full auto rated for 22lr ???
I really want to say yes, in a limited capacity. And only with 22lr ammo. But, I’m not the manufacturer, and there’s very little information on this. I mentioned that I thought it was over-built. Meaning, it’s heavy for being all titanium. My CAT /SR is lighter. It actually seems much lighter. I did ask DD on Facebook to either answer me, or answer you directly. I haven’t got a response yet. The only place I’ve seen it answered, was on Capitol Armory’s website. But it says no, it’s not. DD’s website is down, for whatever reason, so until we get it from the horses mouth, exercise caution. ⚠️
My suspicions were correct!!!! ✅ this is from Diligent Defense: “Thanks for sending the video! The Road Hunter covers 22LR, .17HMR, & .22WMR. Full auto on 22LR. Semi Auto F.N 5.7, 17HMR, 22MAG, and other similar smaller calibers.” I am going repost this quote, but you asked specifically
not impressively quiet. Also heard the richochets hitting your house lol
Too close to call
I assume the CCI standard velocity out of a 22lr rifle does not break the sound barrier. Is that what you found? I bought a Silencerco Sparrow and applied for the permit a little over 2 weeks ago. It is sitting at the store waiting for the ATF approval. 2-3 months ago, the gun store told me most approvals were turning around in less than a week but when I bought mine, they said it is taking longer now. Should have bought it then. They estimated b/w 2 to 4 weeks now but could not promise anything. If true, still better than what I was being told when I wanted to buy one a couple years ago and decided not to b/c of the long wait. I already have a kel tec p17 pistol with a threaded barrel and watched many vids with that gun and the sparrow. Functioned great and sounded like a pellet gun. I may get the winchester wildcat 22LR rifle with a threaded barrel that takes the ruger 10/22 mags. It looks cool, is very light and is a little cheaper than the ruger 10/22 but got good reviews.
@@meattooth1303 correct 👍🏻 CCI standard velocity, doesn’t break the sound barrier. It’s extremely good rimfire ammo! My last three silencer’s, have taken 3-5 days to clear ATF. Those were all individual, no trust. The Sparrow is stupid quiet on a rifle. It doesn’t have a FRP unless you use it on a pistol.
Too close
Too close to call? Or the camera is too close?
Hands down YHM cans and accessories cannot be beat for their price point. The great thing is that even at a great price point the quality and customer service is Top Tier! I love YHM…. I just feel bad that they’re in a gun hating blue state like Massachusetts.
Mask was better
@@Johnsconcertvideos you’ve got better hearing than me, then. I can’t hear a difference in this video.
Great content! Thanks for this info. Can anyone chime in on how a Banish 22 (SilencerCo) would compare to these on the same setup?
Never seen a mark IV with a gold charging bolt. Is that custom or was it a special version?
It’s a Volquartsen competition bolt. It was a separate purchase
Not a drastic difference but the Mask seems to have less of an echoing pop than the other.
I see these Volquartsen kits in an option of both with trigger(s), and without(internals only). Interested to know if their trigger itself makes that much difference vs. an install of the internals only and use of the factory Ruger trigger. Anyone do just the internals?
Just to be clear, this was with the Volquartsen accurizing kit. Some internals get swapped.
Very helpful
Thank you 😊
Idk how to pronounce it either
😂
CAT for me. The Mask is a little higher pitched and has more of a snap than the thud of the SR. The deeper tone of the SR is more pleasing to the ear. As far as sound level they’re dead nuts. It’s a subjective test either way, everyone hears things a bit differently. It’s a laurel vs yanny kind of thing.
I dunno…the camera mic makes it hard to decipher. Nonetheless I am going to disagree with a couple of ya’ll and say that the right hand is the CAT/SR and left hand is the Dead Air Mask.
I actually answered this question. The left one is the CAT
@@BafflingBSsee….normal hearing loss for my age 😂😂
Dead air sounds just smidgen quieter to me
You’ve got better hearing than me then. I have a hard time hearing a difference. But, I do think that with me being so close to the camera (my phone) we may have been picking up a lot of the forward pressure from the CAT. When I moved back, you can start to hear the difference better. The Mask is an outstanding silencer though. I give the edge to the SR, only because of the weight
@@BafflingBSmy last hearing test for work the audiologist said that I “have normal hearing loss for my age.” 😅 I dunno. It is really hard to pick out which rimfire can is quieter these days. For the most part they all seem to perform on more or less the same level. I am anxiously waiting for my Griffin Armament Checkmate-HD. I went with that particular one because I was sold on their “Cam-Lok” system of attachment. So I can easily swap the Checkmate for my Buckmark Trail-Lite to a 22lr rifle with ease.
Sweet vid. YHM Phantom?
@@randomhammer9192 thank you! No, unfortunately no YHM in the arsenal
My problem is with powervision. An yes fuel moto are a huge help. sorry for some reason I thought u had a powervision my bad

Thanks for the reviews. If you had to choose between the SR and the Mask after having spent more time with them now, which would you choose and maybe why if you have the time. Thanks again.
@@robmontana4971 that’s a tough one! I’m glad I don’t really have to choose. But, I had too?……. Probably the 🐱/SR. The weight and the slight edge on sound reduction. And, believe it or not, because it’s easier to clean.
@@BafflingBS Great...thank you for the reply!
VQ trigger makes an amazing improvement!
@@chrism3872 yes it does!!
Was the 30 cal end cap worth it ya think? My 360 sounded louder than i was hoping with 300 blk subs. Was hoping the emd cap makes a difference
@@spencergraff9675 I’ll be honest. I have no idea. I’ve never used any other end cap then the .30 cal. I replaced the .36 cal. end cap the day I got it
Also really good review given people usually use the gun in a windy place that automatically drops down the sound being in a peaceful place really tells you how the actual sound may be like.
Thank you very much
This is my fav gun
I kinda like it too 😊👍🏻
Left sounds like the SR, do you have any problems with fte or ftl on the SR. I get them occasionally, but never do with the mask. I guess its because its less backpressure.
I haven’t had any issues with the CAT, as of yet. (Knock on wood) I assume you are referring to the first round pop (frp)
The Mask seemed quieter over all but not by a tremendous amount. Would very much like to see Jay release his data on the Mask.
He said he would, a month ago. I’ve given up on that happening. I think he must has a beef with Dead Air, or something. By chance, have you seen the other video, with me videoing from the right side? Someone time stamped it for me, and you could really hear a difference between the two. The CAT does seem quieter, when you listen back to back
Could you honestly feel a difference with the 222 cams?
Definitely! Big difference
Mask: 3:57 SR A1: 4:41
@@quiettime6871 thank you! I’m trying to get better at editing and useful information vs. not.
This was extremely useful for me, as well. I can actually hear that the CAT was significantly quieter, this way. So thank you
What tuner? Any difference in mpg ?
I believe I had a Power Vision in it, back then. I don’t believe my mileage was affected much, if at all. It wasn’t until I switched to the Thundermax, that my mileage dropped a bit.
Cat for sure! Nice vid!
Thanks!
Agree with L being quieter.
@@ericsrussell thank you! That’s the CAT
Left but the bullets hitting different backstops were making it tough to decipher.
Yeah, sorry about that. I’m not a proficient two gunner, lol
CAT
Left was quieter.
CAT
Right: Dead Air Mask Left: Cat
Yup. FRP and inconsistency was a giveaway.
I really want to respond to you guys, but I want more comments, before I confirm or correct your guesses
@@Noneya45fghh107I will say this, however, neither have a first round pop. You may have been hearing the bullets hitting in different places. I tried not to hit my wood backstop.
But, you never said which one you thought was quieter?
Left.
this helped alot because iv been trying to research this for like 3 days and this is by far the most helpful and useful video ive found, great job sir
I really appreciate your support! Thank you very much! I’ve really learned a lot, since this purchase. You can literally go with ANY HUB compatible system. Meaning, anything with the inner thread pitch of 1.375x24. Really look hard at the Rearden system. It’s QD, lighter, less expensive, one hand operation and the taper is before the threads, which eliminates carbon lock.
Great video. Both very nice cans. To me, the Dead Air Mask was the better of the two. The Cat had a little thud on every shot where as the Dead Air Mask did not. Ran the audio from the video in Audacity, and there you can see what I'm talking about on the sound waves.
Awesome!! Thank you!
@@BafflingBSNo need to thank me, I'm looking for a can to put on my Ruger and have had a hard time picking the right one. This video got me the chance to compare the sound waves. Dead Air Mask is what I will buy. If only I could get my hands on one here in Sweden.
I doesn't sound different in the audio except first round pop on cat, pew ratings put cat very high reduction with a bolt action rifle, at pistol length and on this microphone there is little perceived difference
@@kurttlethorup I agree
Hey! Great comparison. Is it just the VQ trigger or is it with VQ internals also?
@@DjSubstain Thank you very much! This is the kit I installed. This and the bolt. But the bolt did nothing to improve the trigger. www.opticsplanet.com/volquartsen-firearms-accurizing-kit-ruger-mk-iv-pistol.html
@@BafflingBS Thanks! I live in Sweden and the trigger can't be lighter than 900grams on my gun, if I want to compete with it. Have seen some have under that, but don't think that is with the VQ kit. Will for sure buy a kit from VQ. Have a great day!
@@DjSubstainI’m so glad I could help! And thank you for your kind words
@BafflingBS what improvements have you noticed with the bolt? Trying to decide weather it's worth to pony up the 300. If so I may just get the Black Mamba
@@DeanO9128much easier cleaning during takedown; smoother cycling. You can literally wipe it with 1 finger and it’s clean; also comes with the ‘charging handle’ so it’s easier to rack. You won’t be disappointed, go for the black mamba 👍🏻
Hmm, both sounded good.
I agree
Love the content brother keep it up, from what I heard the DA Mask wins!
Thank you very much! All things considered, I’m going to have to agree with you. There simply isn’t enough difference to justify spending what I spent on the CAT. I just wonder why Jay from Pew Science refuses to post his findings on the Mask. It really is one Hell of a .22 suppressor
Even with headphones on, I cannot tell a difference. I might have to move the camera further away from me.
I appreciate the video. Liked and subscribed. Couldn’t hear a difference on my phone. I had a notify me for the CAT. I like how it’ll keep a gun cleaner with its lower back pressure. I decided to backorder a Mask instead, so I can use my ultrasonic cleaner. I really like the one that I already have and it’s a little bit shorter than the CAT.
To the CAT’s defense, I did put mine in the ultrasonic cleaner, with Simply Green Extreme. There were no ill effects from it.
@@BafflingBS a couple times in there, vibrating on the basket might and probably will take the finish off of the outside of the tube
@RangeToyz I put it in a ziplock, but, I do worry about that.
