    Which one do you think will be the most helpful for students at a highschool level: "Strange New World," "Rise and Triumph of the modern self," or the book Carl Trueman forwarded called "Critical Dilemma?" Critcal Dilemma talks about Critcal Theory and other ideologies that are related to it (such as Critcal Race Theory, Queer Theory, etc). Each book pulls me to want to get these books but due to my own budget (I work as a substitute teacher) I have to make a call. I want to expose all these subjects so that christian students can combat against them, but I do not know which is the most helpful given their short time at school (4 years) and the fact that they've been swimming in other ideologies at that point in time. High school is kind of a hail mary attempt before they go to college which is arguably worse give the stuff that happens there.

    I grew up in the 80's. I can't think of a single time I didn't think of myself as a Christian as well as a Mormon. Now, they may have denied being "Protestant", but that isn't the same thing as denying being "Christian", though with these speakers they are definitely setting things up to be synonymous. Even had another girl try to convince me we weren't, but she didn't really have anything to support her statement. Let's see if you do better. Now, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are neither Catholic nor Protestant, but Restorationist. And if you're gate-keeping the title of Christian to only your brand of Protestantism, that says more about you than about us. One last final thought on this, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did not come up with the title or nickname of "Mormon". That was put on us by our Protestant neighbors due to our use of The Book of Mormon. Now, The Book of Mormon is a wonderful book preaching about the Christ Jesus, and Mormon was an amazing prophet who faced trials I hope none of us have to go through. However, as convenient a nickname as "Mormon" can be, it is poor at defining at beliefs, does not indicate who the prophet who organized the restoration our Church is central, nor does it indicate who we worship and why. It would be similar to calling Catholics "Simon-Peters" or Protestants "Saul-Pauls". 2:40 - FALSE WITNESS - No member of the General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has ever stated that there are other things more valuable or more spiritual than God's Word. This is a gate-keeping tactic used by the sola scriptura crowd where God's Word is limited to only 66 books of The Bible, and reject the possibility that God could possibly say, or have ever said, more. Joseph Smith-History... "Starting in chapter 1..." There is only one single chapter of Joseph Smith-History. The scripture that inspired Joseph Smith, Jr, to pray was James 1: 5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." - KJV. How dismissive they are that a young man would pay attention and follow instructions of The Bible, rather than just listen to the pastors who were trying to drumb up cult followings in the area. Joseph Smith, Jr, never said he was going to be devoured. When he started to pray, "when immediately I was seized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such an astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. Thick darkness gathered around me, and it seemed to me for a time as if I were doomed to sudden destruction." So, he felt attacted, bound, and probably being suffocated, but not devoured. 5:20 - "Probably not God", why would you think it wasn't? The light they presented caused the demon to flee, and Jesus said that the Devil would not work against himself such to cast demons out (Matthew 12: 24-30). If it was not a demon, nor God, then what was it from? 6:17 - You do not understand what is being said or deliberately avoiding it. The creeds which were mentioned refer to such as the Nicene and Athanasian Creed. Pronouncements made by priests, not prophets, who had no authority to speak in God's name, yet are treated as if they were God's Word. They are the philosophies of men mingled with scripture, and that is what makes them an abomination. It is little different from what Jesus faced when the Pharisees and Sadduccees tried to force their interpretation of the Law and the Prophets on to Jesus. Was Jesus in the wrong then? Of course not. Was Simon-Peter in the wrong for presenting Jesus' teachings? Of course not. I notice also that he skipped over (I cannot say deliberately or not) what caused Joseph to be unsure as to who to join and prompted his review of The Bible and led him to James: "For, notwithstanding the great love which the converts to these different faiths expressed at the time of their conversion, and the great zeal manifested by the respective clergy, who were active in getting up and promoting this extraordinary scene of religious feeling, in order to have everybody converted, as they were pleased to call it, let them join what sect they pleased; yet when the converts began to file off, some to one party and some to another, it was seen that the seemingly good feelings of both the priests and the converts were more pretended than real; for a scene of great confusion and bad feeling ensued-priest contending against priest, and convert against convert; so that all their good feelings one for another, if they ever had any, were entirely lost in a strife of words and a contest about opinions." Does that sound Christian to you?

      1) Nature of God - The Bible teaches that Jesus only did what He saw His Father do. "19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel." - John 5: 19-20 - KJV. What did Jesus do? He was born (body was created). He lived. He fulfilled the measure of His creation. He was the Most Righteous of the Father's creation. To then think that the Father did not do any of these things is to call Jesus a liar. They make claims about how different God is, but do not provide anything to support their statements. At best they are relying on the statements of priests and the aforementioned creeds who knew not Jesus to make these statements, but cannot even bother to provide the receipts here.

    • @Charistoph
      @Charistoph 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2) Nature of Man - "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." - John 20: 17 - KJV. God is our Father. "16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." - Romans 8: 16-17 We can be heirs of God alongside Jesus. "26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." - Genesis 1: 26-28 Man and woman were created as a pair in the image of God, and commanded to have dominion over the animals akin to what God has over us. There has been no statement provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that Lucifer was the second-born. In fact, Lucifer did not become Satan until he rejected the Father. In rejecting The Father, Lucifer becamse Satan and lost what relationship he had with The Father. Furthermore, and one thing I did not see argued against, is that our base nature is of "being an intelligence". "Intelligences" are without beginning nor without end, but on their own, they cannot learn nor interact. Not until they are made in to spirits can they do so. 10:20 - FALSE WITNESS! - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches of the free will of Man as a direction to choose between the sinfull, fallen nature of the natural man OR to choose the light and life of the Christ Jesus. The teaching of that free will is to encourage the path of light, even if we should succumb for a time to that natural man. Here is a verse from The Book of Mormon we are encouraged to memorize as part of that: "For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father." - Mosiah 3: 19, The Book of Mormon.

    • @Charistoph
      @Charistoph 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3) Nature of Jesus - Twisting of teachings. By rejecting the Father and becoming Satan, Lucifer lost his sonship. As a result, Lucifer also lost what brotherhood he had with Jesus and with us. Therefore: Satan is not the brother of Jesus. To deny that Jesus wasn't created, at least in some part, is to deny that Matthew and Luke knew what they were talking about when they talked about Mary being pregnant (Matthew 1: 18 & Luke 2: 5), delivered (Matthew 1: 21 & Luke 2: 6-7), and saw Jesus grow (Luke 2: 40). Before the time He was named Jesus, He was not Jesus, but Jehovah, so technically speaking, "Jesus" did not always exist. If they can prove otherwise, they are welcome to, but as with everything else so far, the present nothing from the scripture, but expect you to take them at their own word. Something they are not willing to do with Joseph Smith, Jr. 11:12 - Everything you present is your interpretation of scripture to fit your own needs, too. Should I dismiss it just as derisively as you do? At least Joseph Smith, Jr, claimed to be called as a prophet. By what standard does being "created" mean that one cannot be "divine"? Satan was never born, so how does he have a human nature? This comparison falls flat on its face if one takes more than 2 seconds to think about it. 11:35 - FALSE WITNESS - At no point has The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ever state that Jesus didn't do things to "totally save us". Yes, we teach that Jesus did and does things to help us, but in doing so, He helps us to avoid the need to repent, which is part of helping to "totally save us".

    • @Charistoph
      @Charistoph 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      4) Nature of the Gospel - They do not speak of "the Gospel", but the nature of salvation. They aren't the same thing according to The Bible. Furthermore, they misquote Saul-Paul in regards to works. "8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any mans should boast." - Ephesians 2: 8-9 - KJV. Saul-Paul is talking about no works we can do alone can save us. And that is true. However, there is one set of works which can and will save us: The works of the Redeemer, even the Atonement of the Christ Jesus who overcame sin and death. In return, Jesus Christ has asked us to do a few things in return: * Repent - To turn away from our sin and turn back to Him and the Father. If we do not have Jesus here, then we are not repenting. * Be Baptized - No man can baptize themselves. Even Jesus needed another to baptize Himself "to fulfill all rightesousness." Matthew 3: 15, KJV). Even with that, being baptized without the Authority of Jesus Christ is only getting a person wet. * Love our Neighbor as ourselves - In the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats (2nd half of Matthew 25), there were two groups who called Jesus Lord. The one that Jesus recognized were those who took care of their fellow man, and He rejected those who did not. For those who have faith in Jesus Christ will do what He says, not just call Jesus, "Lord". Those who refuse to do what Jesus says is NOT showing faith in Jesus. This is why James warns in the second chapter that you show faith by your works. The works will NOT get us to Heaven on their own, period, but they develop our nature so that, like John says, "when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." - 1 John 3: 2 - KJV. So when they say that The Bible doesn't talk about it at all, they are skipping over huge sections to maintain their interpretations. It's time to make dinner, and so I'm done with my critique, even if I didn't get to #5. If the reader of this still trusts these men after that, it is on you.

    I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. There is so much to unpack from a temple that most members can never unpack it all, so I am surprised that you could do such a short review lf it. I grew up in the culture, and I came to a realization Mormonism has become something much different than what is represented on the Bible and even the Book of Mormon as well as what Joseph Smith taught and practiced. I think we need to all work together to purify our worship and seek the spirit that we can all be united. If we look to a man authority figure to doctate and reveal all things, then we put outselves in a vamp to no longer accept truth from outside sources, and we close ourselves off to expansive light and knowledge from heaven. We shouldnt separate ourselves from our neighbors, but I do believe that if our neighbors fail to repent and turn to Christ and be united, then there is no other choice but to separate and gather together with the body of Christ.

    I would recommend you check out the recent videos with an LDS Member named David Butler, or his new book "In the Language of Adam." To Mormons, the exact things you do in the temple are slightly less important. Rather, the temple is a way that you learn about God and Christ through symbols that connect everything together. For example, you brought up the practice mentioned in the Bible of blood sacrifice. Using the blood of the first born, they would put the blood on your right ear, your right thumb, and right toe. This was a symbol that Christ's pending sacrifice would cover you from head to toe. But there are so many other ways you can teach that exact same thing in modern day. This same principal is why I would also push back on Mormons being a works-based religion. The works do not matter. It is the works that slowly change your soul to desire to do the things of God. It is what the works do to us that matter. So if you blindly do the works, but really have no conversion, it's fruitless.

    Member of the Church of Jesus Christ here. Here are some notes: @6:36 - Yes, the temple is the linkage between heaven and earth - because we believe Christ commanded modern temples to be built, so we could make covenants with God, and follow in the pattern of covenant making that Jesus sets forth. And yes, the endowment is all about Christ. @8:00 - Yes, some contributors to the Bible say that these 'high places' are bad, and that one should only offer sacrifices at the temple in Jerusalem - but it is highly likely those contributors were Deuteronomist reformers - the ones that (according to the Book of Mormon) were actively trying to kill the prophets and alter the faith of the Children of Israel around 600 BC. And again, the Book of Mormon shows a righteous prophet fleeing from Jerusalem and offering sacrifices not at the temple. So yes, because we don't believe in the same scriptural infallibility as most Protestants, we don't see things as cut and dry as others might. @10:00 - We believe there is a physical veil in the temple, but that that is symbolic of the veil of forgetfulness, of the separator between us and God's presence. So while we are living, we are all separated from God 'through the veil' - thus we symbolically return back to His presence through the veil - because we are not currently in His presence. @11:30 - Yes, we believe the Law of Moses was fulfilled through Christ's Atonement - but we also believe that His Gospel was lost after His apostles died - so Christ fulfilled the Law of Moses, but that His true Gospel was lost afterwards - thus we can believe in a need for restoration of His Gospel that is post the law of Moses being fulfilled. @14:00 - The exact quote is: "Marriage is so central so fundamental to everything that we know and understand in the gospel" - Yes, many things can be "so central" in the teachings of Christ, including Christ - and it is only through Christ that we get to have families, be with them in eternity etc. You seem to have projected the quote as saying 'the most central' instead of 'this is so central'. @16:30 - And we believe Christ has offered us a way to return to Him and be with Him forever **and** be with our families forever - it's not an either/or thing for us - we are grateful we can have both. @17:30 - "Is there any worship of God?" - we literally call it temple worship. So yes. No one said you can't connect to God anywhere else, but it is easier to connect with God, to hear His voice, in His temples - this has been how the whole OT has operated, and after Christ, the Apostles still went to the temple to preach and draw closer to God - because it is "the House of the Lord" @18:00 - "They don't discuss their encounter with God much" - the endowment is literally a symbolic journey to enter back into His presence - that He brings us back into His presence - modeled after the literal holiest and most sacred experiences recorded in scripture. And yes, there are many who like to keep sacred experiences like that sacred, and not 'cast pearls before swine'. @20:00 - "The video never really talks about sin" - yes, because it is discussing a holy place - the House of the Lord and Holiness to the Lord - which is the opposite of sin. @23:00 - 'It's not Jesus centric' - again Christ is at the center of the temple. Christ means 'the Anointed One' - it is at the temple where we are anointed, and where we are authorized to wear the Garments of the Holy Priesthood everyday, which is a physical symbol of being covered in the Atonement of Christ at all times. @23:50 - 'God ended the temples' - many Christians infer that God ended temples, but that is never stated nor in the Bible - that comes down to interpretation - which is fine that we disagree on, but lets not put **interpretation** of scripture on the same level as the scriptures themselves

    Two words Temple, one physical temple. 2 gods dwelling place.. the temple in hebrew was an instution of worship. As viewed it a corrupted instution, demonstrated by his anger. Body ,, greek ,,soma. Collection of parts that make up the total. ** tear this physical temple( abolish the old religious instution) I will raise up a(new temple) , his body, ( the collection of early apostles) ( church , congress, called a legislative body etc) raise up a new instution, the body of new Christain way of worship! Jesus death and resurection tore down the Hebrew Temple instution and raised up the Christain temple ( dwelling place of God) . The body of which started a new form of worship. Read it a few time. !! 😊😊

    *All bibles are now the UNholy word of Satan but 99+% of everyone calling themselves ''Christians'' never received the love of the truth so God sent them a strong delusion and so now they can't see any of the thousands of blasphemous and obvious changes in their own bibles!*

    This verse refers to the Fact that The Messiah יהושע actually came in The Name of His Father יהוה. The Name given to The Messiah at Birth has been changed....at Birth, He was Names Yahushúa יהושע....which means Yahwéh is Salvation....yet this world taught us that names Translate....which they don't....so they have taught us a Latin Name "jesus"....... So, here, The Messiah is also talking to us, and telling us that we would accept another Name but not His Birth given Name Yahushúa...... A perfect example is NethanYahu נתניהו, the prime minister of Israel....this Hebrew name contains 3 of 4 letters of יהוה......this Name is pronounced the same in all languages.... There is no English version or Spanish version....there is only 1 version of The Name that Saves..... Yahwéh bless you in The Mighty Name of Yahushúa

    No that's not it. Until we truly seek the truth and pick up the books and read we are the blind leading the blind. The Bible is composed of 66 books that make up the canon we have been given, but they are only pieces and fragments of a greater puzzle. One of the most profound pieces of this great puzzle is in the gospels of the Essene's called "The Essene Gospel Of Peace" that is about the teachings of Yahusha (Jesus) but in greater depth and detail that shines SO MUCH light on the scriptures we have including what he is speaking of here in John 6:53 KJV. Here is the audio book of it as I have listened to it many times and got the book. I can also tell you what it means if you would like or you can seek it out of the book and read, or both....🙏🏽 Here is the audio book of The Essene Gospel Of Peace that changes everyone's life who hears or reads it.... th-cam.com/video/T1qMQ0uc65o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RyA0_-wd3tplDhkP

    ESV Study Bible is my primary Bible. Also, use the NIV Life Application Bible and the NIV Study Bible. Just purchased the NET Study Bible. All are helpful in different ways. Have some of your others, too, as well as a few others. 📖 Appreciate your thoughts on the different ones.

    The Scripture teaches you. Where most errors come into play is through Letting humans explain the Scripture to you. Be like the Noble Bereans who searched the Scripture to see if these things are true or not. I recommend getting a translation of the Scripture that didn't Leave the Father's Name out. Start with Genesis and read and study the entire Scripture Prayerfully. Ask the Father to teach you his word. He will bless you.

    The more I think about it, I don't know as much about "actual Doug Wilson" because much of what I've seen or heard lately has been shared or promoted by Doug's fans. Many of them don't curate Doug Willson's stuff robustly, but more selectively, especially with the spicy stuff. And many of them see the master baker bake a cake without understanding the chemistry of food, lacking the experience, and think they can reproduce the final produce without knowing what went into it's creation. That's the premise of "Nailed It" and that's what shapes my understanding of Wilson. . . his fan-boys.
