The way the people of Japan are so respectful when addressing foreign leaders makes me smile. They say “san” and “sama” and I appreciate it a lot. Westerners have sort of lost basic respect for their leaders, even in addressing them, for many reasons, but Japanese people are so respectful, it’s refreshing.
