what does sheikh mean when he says "all muslims have to unite and defend this country". does he mean that we have to unite with innovators and other sects?

The Hamas and the Palestinian government are now unified in this. The whole Palestine is also supporting them as far as i know. The time and context Shaykh gave this fatwa at that time is different from current time and context. At first, I did not like what Hamas started as i believed they needed to prepare a lot more before the attack on the Zionist Zaalims. Besides, a lot of bloodshed was going to take place. But what has been done can't be undone now. There's no turning back. Now, I can only pray for the victory of the ones who are fighting the Zionist Army with their lives for the greater good of the Palestinians, a free Palestine, a free Aqsa. It can't be wrong to try to gain what is rightfully ours at the first place but I really believe they needed to be much stronger in order to stand against these Israeli demons. May Allah help & protect my Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine and may He strengthen them. Ameen!

Hamas were not the rulers duirng the time that the Sheikh made these statements. Whether you like them or not, they are the current ruling faction of Gaza. And the prohibition of publicy speaking against the rulers applies everywhere as people might be influenced by other's comments.
