1979 CB750F Super Sport first impressions and start

I just purchased a 1979 CB750-F Super Sport and here's my first thoughts on what I've found out about the bike. The bike is all original besides the Pod filters, a aftermarket headlamp, and some paint accents. Carbs need tuning badly and paint needs work. Should be a fun project!

2020 Kawasaki W800 factory baffles removed. This was a long tough job! Attempt with caution!! This 2020 model had 2 different lips that had to be drilled out to remove from factory silencers.. Sound is deeper and louder in volume. See my other video for stock baffles in.

    What power of drill is required for this? I have an 18v drill. Is that enough to do the job? Also, did the check engine light come on? Any effect on performance or back pressure/torque? Thanks

    I was inspired by you! I bought this same model. I’m going to (try to) repaint it more or less as you have. I also cut off the big lattice main mast and am replacing it with one more like the real one. But here’s the kicker: I shaved down the screws to about 1/3 their original size, and she goes way slower and smoother. Thanks again for posting these videos. I think this boat is a sleeper classic.

    Really great paint job. Transforms it beautifully. I'm looking into getting the same boat. A family member who is extremely knowledgeable of these matters is going to help me try to deal with the only real issue with this model, and that is that it is way overpowered and has no speed control (which is understandable, given the low cost). But it looks great. Your paint work has really sold me on this.

    • @michaelgonos3165
      @michaelgonos3165 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could you perhaps advise on how you did the painting? Did you actually remove the main deck to paint it? Can you actually open up the hull (beyond removing the superstructure to expose the battery compartment)? If so, by what means? Also, the screws with the flanges holding the superstructure in place, you mentioned in another video's comments that there was some leakage there occasionally?

      Yes this bike is fine for your height. I am 5'10 I also own a V7 Stone and they are pretty similar. You sit higher on the kawasaki and the footpegs are more rearward. It is a fun engine but does not pull as hard as the v7, it is more of a easy slow speed cruiser. Cheers!

    • @xtrythis1170
      @xtrythis1170 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like both bikes but about the only way my Guzzi is like a W800 in the way of the classic timeless looks.. I'd say it has some wonky HD Sportster dna infused into it. It shakes a lot, torque twists (leans to the right) with the transverse engine when you blip the throttle, and has that cool V-twin sound. It's what they all call "character" in the reviews. The W800 is definitely more of the older gentleman's classic motorcycle which will run smooth and start everytime without being too shouty about itself. Thanks for watching!

      I prefer the bike with them in going around the neighborhood but out on the road with traffic it's nicer to be heard by cars around you at the twist of the throttle.. I guess it depends on your opinion of the "loud pipes save lives" concept. They're easy to remove and put back in luckily.
