Running in Hiroshima, Japan | Peace Memorial Park
มุมมอง 230ปีที่แล้ว
Hiroshima, Japan is one of the best cities in Japan for runners, thanks to its well-kept and beautiful Peace Memorial Park. It has a variety of wide pathways so you don't have to worry about dealing with traffic or running into the many tourists that frequent the park. The park is also flanked by two rivers, so for a peaceful riverside run, this is the place to do it.

Fukuoka in Kyushu, Japan is best known for tonkotsu, or pork bone, broth ramen, but there is more to the city than delicious food. I take you on a run through Ohori Park, a large and scenic park located in the heart of Fukuoka City. It is a haven for city runners, in addition to being a very pleasant place to spend a nice day. Would highly recommend anyone visiting Fukuoka to stop by!

This summer, I visited Sendai, capital city of Miyagi Prefecture and the largest city in the Tohoku Region. During the trip, I made it over to Matsushima Bay, one of "The Three Great Views of Japan." With good public transit, delicious food, and nice sightseeing places in close proximity, I found Sendai to be a very pleasant place to visit. Next time I will have to do more exploring. 0:00 - the...

Woww your video really brings out the charm of Akita, I'm going to live there for the next couple of years and I'm so excited thank you very much for sharing your incredible journey.
Hope you enjoy it!
Loved this, ran along on the treadmill and took me back to my time in Fukuoka. Keen for more running vids
Awesome! The summer heat right now is intense but more to come soon!
👍🏻
Very useful bro.. Thank you from India
Glad to help man!
Thats the worst conection between something so beautifull like japan....and theres is some trap shit.....😅😅😅
Q:: How many runners did I pass? A: All of them. (I lost count)
Wow, what an incredible journey through Akita City! It's refreshing to see places like Akita highlighted. Senshu Park looks absolutely stunning, and I loved the glimpse of Kubota Castle. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! ✨
Come run Uraga
Can you use ICOCA card here? How is getting around?
Yep IC cards including ICOCA work no problem! The train access within the city itself is pretty limited as the stations are far apart. But there local buses you can use to get around as well
You didnt go ro seitai hoshikai . You missed that most important place in akita
Honest question because I'm planning a visit to Akita: why is a christian building the most important place in Akita city? Thanks in advance for the answer.
Awesome
Nice video btw, how can i contact you? do you have email address?
hi there, which platforms can I send your messages? Hope to receive your response <3
One of the most things I like about Japan is that every corner and every spot of it has it's own personality ✨
Absolutely! The big cities are great and all but I think it’s a bit of a shame that most visitors never make it to the lesser-frequented prefectures like those in Tohoku!
Never seen any of your videos but I love EDCs and this was a cool video
Thank you very much!
cool! was just about to ask in your Fukuoka run video what you use to record your runs hehe
hey bro just want to say you are doing great , wishing you all the best for future ... make a video on " a day in life of American (our occupation) in japan ...
Thank you! Appreciate the request too, I’ve thought about making such a video, will try to add it to my queue
Hey dude, just wanted to say that your channel’s cool and that I’m glad you’re still making content, whatever it may be.
Thanks for the comment! Much appreciated
Gopro used for running?
Yes, I use a GoPro Hero 9 with a neck mount to record my running POV!
Do you think it’s ok to run in the morning and take subway back home? I was worrying about the sweaty me in a packed subway😅 (I was planning to go to for this route but I live in Akihabara)
Good question, I’ve ridden the train drenched in sweat post-run several times and people don’t care too much, or at least don’t show it! People wearing masks can’t really smell BO strongly anyway… If you’d prefer taking a shower and changing, there is actually a really convenient place called Raffine Neo Running Style, a 6-minute walk from Yurakucho Station, and for a small fee you can use the lockers and showers there, so it is very popular for Kokyo Runners! They give you a wristband so you can run without any extra baggage, it’s quite nice!
@@JapanJacqueswhat about running from home to the loop/circuit? i'm visting Japan next year and is during my marathon training plan, just about 60 days before my race, so i want to keep running during my visit, not so much big long runs but several 5-10k to try and keep at least 40km/week still don't know where i'll be staying but i've been looking to spots near waterfronts/river and parks mostly, thinking of running early morning maybe
@@SinLord101 running within the city is definitely doable, most of my runs I end up meandering through various small side streets, even in Tokyo. As you’re thinking the waterfronts, rivers, and parks will be good if you want fresh air and not needing to stop for traffic, etc. Yoyogi Park, Meiji Jingu Gaien, Sarue Park to name a few. Would recommend checking to make sure nearby parks are not paid admission if you intend on running in them.
@@JapanJacques thank you for the recommendations! will have them in mind, didn't know the parks had admissions over there, is it common throught all of japan or mostly in Tokyo?
Typically just traditional gardens are the ones that have admission fees to get in (typically 300-500 yen or so), and those aren’t places you’d run anyways, but Tokyo has a couple big parks that require admission. Namely, Shinjuku Gyoen and Showa Memorial Park. Other than those should be safe bets for running!
I'll be doing this run next week any other recommendations? I was thinking of running along the Tama river
The Tama river is great for running as well, I run there often, actually. You could start around the Shimo-maruko or Chidori-cho and run a bit west to get to the river, then go either left or right along the river, whichever you're feeling. If you turn right and go north for about 7km, you can reach Futako-tamagawa, which is a nice endpoint.
Finally someone made a thorough video of this. Thank you, very helpful.
Glad you found it helpful!!
Nice. What time was the run? Seemed pretty hot. Surprised to see so many runners. Haven't been back to tokyo for a few years. Used to do loops around. Glad to see the improvement works have all been completed.
I believe it was right around noon, so a nice and hot early summer day! I don’t do the Kokyo run that often but every time I go there’s a pretty healthy crowd out doing the loops.
@@JapanJacques😂
Great video that got recommended to me. I'm gonna be visiting Tokyo in a few weeks, what would you say would be the best running route that includes Rainbow Bridge and the best water views?
I did a 30km training run including the Rainbow Bridge last year and it was great! I’d recommend starting near Tamachi Station, accessible from the Yamanote Line. It’s about 1.5km through the city to reach the bridge, take the elevator up, then head to Toyosu Gururi Park across the bridge in Odaiba (another 4km or so). There’s nice paths around the islands in the Bay, so you can kind of explore the area to your liking. Heading back to the city, you can take one of the bridges north of there and you’ll end up near either a major park or the Tsukiji->Ginza areas, depending on which bridge you choose. Should be a good time!
What a lovely trip Jacques! thanks for sharing it with us. SMK Huemer
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know if there are other parts of Tokyo/Japan you’d like to see me run through!
Thank you for leveling up my Japanese street smarts. I'm headed there soon so this is extremely helpful to get my bearings right away. I appreciate the chill atmosphere of your videos, nice and relaxing. Thanks for all the effort you put into these. Cheers!
Thanks for your comment and glad you found the video helpful! Have a blast on your visit!
@@JapanJacques thanks, will do 🤘🏼
Love this style of travel vlog. Thanks for taking me on this journey, I'm looking forward to doing this myself in 2023. Btw, this reminds me of Luxury Travel Expert; classy and informational.
Thanks a bunch Gareth, that means a lot! More Japan content is in the works! Safe travels in 2023
Weather reminds me of when I was there in '02 riding a bike in Omotecho Arcade. It was raining out and the sidewalks were slippery--tried a turn and, as you can imagine, didn't quite make it. Wiped out in front of a couple hundred people. Knees were banged up but it was my pride that sustained the most damage that day.
Whew that’s quite the incident! Fortunately nothing that eventful has happened in my travels yet!
ありがとう😊
とんでもないです!
I'll add Akita to my itinerary for my next trip to Japan
Awesome! Hope you enjoy the more chill pace out there when you make it!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. So, that's it. I'm purchasing an Apple Pencil.
This was real helpful! I used a really simple dictionary before (it didn't have conjugations :<) so i really appreciate this!
Wow, this video was so helpful! I'm studying japanese, but so far I had my classes online. We're coming back to uni though, so I started looking into tablets for taking notes (love having stuff online) and I thought, why not choose one with which I can practice japanese? I was digging for info, looking at forums and decided to go with iPad in the end, I just couldn't find any info about Japanese handwriting. Then I saw that Scribble didn't have Japanese and was so disappointed! I saw your last video and some comment from 5 months ago about update so I went to your new videos and here I am! Sorry for long comment, but I'm really really happy I stumbled onto your video! :D
Glad to hear that the video was helpful! I was quite pleased when I found out that Scribble began supporting Japanese as well. Good luck with your studies!
YO!!!! ONLY COMMENT!!!!!!! going on record: I am the first comment. Do you like my profile pic? I fink he's pwiddy.
Jacques, The water frozen in mid air is my favorite and the next one is the beautiful rocks and sand. Looks like you're having some fun with that camera and enjoying your time in Japan. Miss you.
Now there is scribble support for japanese with ipad OS 15
Yeah, dude should do an update on this…
why I can't write chinese
When you start writing with the Apple Pencil, the pop-up menu has an option to change your input language! And they added Japanese in a recent update finally!
@@JapanJacques oh thanks :)
3:09 the Japanese text is so potent it even made its way onto the T-shirt of an English TH-camr!
So we need to change keyboard to Japanese function then can start scribble in Japanese? Please help me
Keyboard function is separate from the Scribble settings. But as seen in the video there is no Japanese Scribble. Just English alphabet and Chinese characters. Maybe someday Apple will add more languages when their machine learning models can work for recognizing more handwriting.
🤩😍
Selected Kanji appears because those are borrowed from Traditional Chinese, which is supported by the Apple Pen.
part 2?
th-cam.com/video/FlccrnGyAr8/w-d-xo.html This is the second video I made in Okayama! And there’s actually a third too, titled the Most Beautiful Park in Japan. From my channel you can see them all :)
I am bumped when I found this out. Apple scribble don’t support the kanas except for kanji. A huge miss of opportunity in my opinion, and it would help a lot when studying on language app like duo lingo.
氣 is just 気's 旧字体。 Maybe you could try switching to simplified Chinese, if there is the option. I've had better results with it than with traditional when using it without a pencil, anyway. Personally, I'm using Mazec for handwritten Japanese input at the moment.
Hi Jacques! Good to see you!
Lovely, Jacques!
Mine doesn’t work at all why? '
As in Scribble doesn’t work? You will have to go into the settings to turn on Scribble. But as I showed in the video, it doesn’t work for Japanese kana at all.
Ugh, it seems you have to write really quickly. For someone with dysgraphia, that makes the scribble feature almost impossible. I just wanna use it to practice kanji. :(
Ah yes, unfortunately it doesn’t have any options for adjusting the speed at which it recognizes the writing, not even within the Accessibility settings. So it still feels like much of a work-in-progress to be honest.
Great to see you Jacques!
