DJI's New UPDATE: The End of Data Syncing! Did DJI Save Themselves or Spark New Controversy?
Hey guys! In this video, we dive into DJI’s latest update and what it means for drone enthusiasts like us. DJI has decided to discontinue the option for drone operators in the United States to sync their flight records to DJI’s servers. We’ll discuss the implications of this change, how it affects you as a drone operator, and what it signals about DJI’s approach to user privacy. Don’t miss out on this in-depth analysis of DJI’s new policy. Remember to like, share, and subscribe for more drone news and updates!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's official. Effective in 2 years, there will be no more DJI drones used at the federal level. Meaning by 2025 there could be big implications for the drone community. Could this ban extend to consumers?..
Here is DJI's Response to these allegations being made towards them (It's hard to find this link on Google, unless you search for the correct keywords. I wonder why that is? 🤔) :::

    Theirs tons of Company's copying DJI you can get from another company in China (forgot the name) its THE SAME DRONE with NO logo's everything else is the same but the company stole all the drones features and sold it same color and everything I know it was Marvic Air's they coping a lot so to see an American company do this no surprise the surprise would be a drone that x10 better, also just like how "Tik-Tok" got "Banned" dont mean shit just means they have to hand the keys over to American company maybe this company but they still control 80% of the company BUT like the Tic-Tok ban the only thing this would do is all data is stored in the US and China gets none of it, but guess what, damage is done China has us MAPPED, sorry dude end of story lol Just look at what happen to Tik-Tok same shit will happen and honestly I do not see this happening in the US if it does then like I said the consumers will not be affected of the Items brought at the time of the Ban maybe after You''ll have more GeoFence warnings poping up like I do here in Long Island NY where ALL the Rich are right now and its a small Island but, man the shots I get with my DJI Avata 2 (in Manual) and my Air 3 is beautiful and yeah the CCP is 100% using this is Map us AS LONG as this bill passes with me having NO EFFECT no any DJI Products brought before the banned are not effected, and VERY LIGHT restrictions (expect AirPorts or if your using it for a small business) I believe that they should be able to fly anywhere, The Air 3 The highest I took it was 1600 ft thats not even a 1/4 mile the lowest a plane flys in NY is 2,500 and TBH the done and do much but hover at that height .....sorry for the tuff read got a few brooski's in me

    It's hysterically funny doublespeak from Anzu when they say, on their FAQ page, that "...We operate independently, and all strategic collaborations with other companies to strengthen the capabilties, security, and outputs from our drones are not located in China." And then go on to acknowledge their licensing agreement with DJI that buys the technology transfer and allows them to manufacture drones that duplicate DJI drones. That's as big of a "strategic collaboration" as it gets. Without DJI, there would be no Anzu. It's utterly irrelevant whether they're paying royalties or paying a licensing fee. The result is exactly the same. DJI gets a pile of money, and Anzu gets to manufacture and sell DJI clones.

      I think you may have misunderstood. I did state that even though the two are quite similar that doesn’t mean that there’s any foul play. Anzu Robotics and DJI have a licensing agreement. This legal contract allows Anzu to use DJI’s technology (such as the camera sensors and other components) without shared ownership or control. Think of it like how Microsoft licenses its Windows operating system to various computer manufacturers. While Anzu Robotics uses DJI technology under a licensing agreement, DJI’s influence extends beyond drones. Their commitment to research and development has led to groundbreaking innovations in flight control systems, camera stabilization, and artificial intelligence, impacting various industries worldwide. So, DJI continues to soar, even as new players enter the field! It will be interesting to see how this continues to develop.

And not only do their drones pale in comparison, they stopped making consumer drones, but now want to focus on state and government , military drones. Conflict of interest much? Look it up. He has been the chair of that board since it's formation. He has been trying to kill the competition all along, yet now doesn't even offer anything. The allegations aren't proven to be false and the concern is very real. By Chinese National Intelligence law they have to give up any and all data the the CCP requests for "intelligence" since it took effect in 2017. I own DJI drones and want to continue flying them but I don't let my biases dictate my opinions and them preach them as facts.

    • @PurpleFinchPhoto
      @PurpleFinchPhoto 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, there are legitimate concerns about China spying on the US (We’ve already banned certain Chinese telecom brands, but also, it’s complicated and it can get weird). But does that mean we need to ban all technology made in China? No. I mean, hello, iPhones? Should we single out DJI in particular just because their drones (like all drones) use and transmit GPS data to operate? Absolutely not. But that’s the general rallying cry around banning them. Using a similar logic as the proposed TikTok bans, which absolutely does capture and store user data, Congress is saying that DJI captures user data, and that that data is available to the Chinese government, essentially allowing them to surveil US territory and our behaviors. DJI maintains this isn’t the case, and that users can opt out of data collection entirely and restrict all data to the local device. Enterprise users can even use 3rd party flight software to control the drone, opting out of DJI’s app entirely. Drone Advocacy Alliance; “The “Countering CCP Drones Act” would have a massive impact on the drone industry writ large and even the broader U.S. economy. According to a 2023 economic impact analysis by John Dunham & Associates, removing DJI and its products from the market would result in the closure of 67% of American small drone businesses and the loss of more than 450,000 U.S. jobs. In addition, cutting the leading manufacturer out of the drone market would lead to rising costs and product shortages for all users. It also takes a life-saving tool out of the hands of first responders, putting lives on the line. Further, this legislation would expand the authority of the FCC to include the developers of software that operates on DJI equipment, even U.S. software developers.” If you like DJI drones, want to keep using them, and maintain consumer choice, reach out to your Senators and Representatives and let them know that you oppose HR 2864. This form makes it quick and easy (30 seconds). Best to do it before June 12, 2024, when a vote is expected in the House. Regardless, while the concerns are real, DJI maintains that their drones prioritize user privacy and data security. As a drone enthusiast, it’s essential to stay informed and make informed decisions based on the complete available facts.

      DJI has taken several steps to address and refute claims of being tied to the Chinese Communist Party. They have published transparency reports detailing how it handles user data, emphasizing its commitment to privacy and security. The company has also invited independent third-party audits of its data practices, to verify that user data is not shared with the Chinese government. DJI has made adjustments to its operations, such as moving some data operations to other countries, to demonstrate its independence from Chinese government influence. Also this move of completely getting rid of the data syncing entirely underscores DJIs commitment, as it’s not an easy thing to do considering a lot of people rely on their flight logs. DJI has actively engaged with regulators and stakeholders globally, providing detailed information and evidence to counter claims of CCP influence. The company has implemented robust data security measures, including local data mode, which prevents data from being sent to the internet. DJI has issued public statements and responses to allegations, consistently denying any improper ties to the CCP and highlighting its global operations and customer base. So yes they’ve proven time and time again, yet the U.S. government doesn’t want you to know this.

I think if we(as the community ) happen to convince enough politicians to vote no, then why would they stick around? On the other hand though, if the CCP Act and the Drones for First Responders Act do pass, I think DJI will just keep feeding Anzu their specs, and they will become a DJI clone just so DJI can stay relevant. In terms of business DJI is smart and probably is 100 steps ahead on this one.

      @PurpleFinchPhoto 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would hope so, however dji outsourcing its specs to Anzu could be really bad for their company, especially if Anzu doesn’t keep up with the same level of service and reliability that DJI has.

      DJI is actually outsourcing their products to other companies in hopes to help control some of the market if they do end up getting banned. However this could be bad for DJI, not being able to control the quality and the competitive edge over the market.

    If the ban goes through its likely it will also affect Anzu as well because the chips are still produced in China. It will affect all Chinese drones even the small players like EXO/Hubsan, FIMI etc. Skydio is the key here. They are the ones that have lobbied to get this bill and coincidently one of Stefanik's former director of national security is now on the board of Skydio. Hmmm if you cant beat them, ban them I guess.

      Not true at all. Look at iPhones they have a lot of Chinese chips inside them. It’s not the chips it’s the security. If it’s a us based business then they won’t care. These DJI drones collect a lot of data and who owns that data? China. USA wants USA companies to own the data .
