Origami Parrot
Continuing my apparent bird theme, here's me folding an origami parrot. I don't really like that it starts with a triangle, not the standard square, but it's one of the better ones from the book. Speaking of which, this comes from the book titled "Origami" by Toyoaki Kawai, published by Hoikusha Publishing Co. Ltd. Thanks to the Ottawa Japanese Cultural Centre for the loan of the book.

Cleaning My Keyboard

Sketching My Mother

A year and a half ago, I lost my mother to cancer. I'm apparently starting a tradition of sketching her from an old photo on her birthday. Yesterday, she would have been 79 years old. I'm still no good at drawing faces. I typically try over and over and eventually I just give up and call it done. Anyway, I think I managed to capture the fact that my mother was a cool girl.
Brewing One Cup of Coffee

A fast infusion brewing technique for a single cup of coffee, with nice quick cleanup afterwards. I didn't mention it in the video, but yes, of course, you also need to dispose of the grinds and clean out the brewing cup. Still much easier than cleaning a cafetiere, and less wasteful than using a one-cup paper filter.

Lego Helicopter

I lost the instructions for this lego helicopter kit. So, to document how it's made, I dismantled it and rebuilt it on camera. Afterwards, I realized that I misplaced a few pieces, so the final reassembled model is different from the original at the start of the video. Can you spot the differences? :-) There is no audio with this video.
Skating the Rideau Canal

This is from February 2017. I skated the full length of the Rideau Canal Skateway. I went from "end" to "start" because it allowed me to finish downtown and eat and drink, and then easily take the bus home. Total distance: 7.8 km (4.8 mi) Elapsed time: 1 hr 4 min

If you fully crease the tail, angle the head up and curve the wing like an S instead of a C this works as a very pretty and very good flying paper airplane!
For those who wonder what it looks like with a 2-colored paper: The tail is white on top and there are two small triangles on the bottom that are also white (you can see them at 3:48). (as long as you started with the colored side on the outside at 0:39)
