Are you off the radio now? Tried to listen in the car and it wasn't you.
What kind of roller was it
thanks this was really helpful
Great show today. Enjoyed listening to Philip and Tiffany Murph. 😊
Yes just get on with it
You should ALWAYS spray foam the gap between the attic access pull down door frame and the ceiling just first. Then, use some double sided tape (preferable foam) on the host. Then install the blanket and staple it to the foam. Your attempt was ok.
Thanks!
It's hard to believe the popcorn didn't come peeling off the ceiling. I could not compare the roller technique with this amount of pressure to my own situation, but worth watching. Thank you.
Very nice ,Ta .x
Really good Video! Explained thoroughly. Big help. Thank You Sir
Great instruction video. Thanks so much. I have never heard of an attic tent before but definitely getting one. And now I know I can install myself!
Lol this was fun to watch thanks!
Cool dude
No wonder it’s so easy for you! There’s 3-4 of you in video! Giggle
Nice video.
Wouldn't spraying the popcorn ceiling be easier
Did u use a split foam roller or just regular roller?
Thank you
Popcorn roller foam, 9 inch at Home Depot
Nice advice don't know how old this video is but c'mon not wearing a respirator and breathing in all the toxins from the spray 🤣
I installed one this morning, after the staples I taped all the edges with duct tape.
Thanks for the video. Took me longer to watch it than it did to install it. Would you recommend using expandable foam instead of calking or not? I have both.
Thank you for your videos and information it’s all helpful
3/8 staples or1/4 ?
I used 3/8 because that's what I had. Worked well.
Great job!! Loved your advice❤❤
What about if there is horrible glutter on the ceilings? 😳😪😪😪
This was great. THANK YOU! I am going to try this this weekend.
Thank you 😊
Paid a guy to do my living room a few years ago and warned if comes off easy. He laughed off and say he was going spray it on and it would fall off. After he got going and had a good deal done it started falling off in big chunks. It was so bad I told him to get out and scraped it off myself and redid it with a different texture.
Great thanks
Good job on the instructions! Mine has arrived, will tackle it as soon as I find my caulking gun! Thanks!
Yeah, you got lucky with that one with not much coming off. I always wear a hat, and a face shield from $1 store since paint can be rough getting out of hair, and good to protect face and eyes from getting paint in when working over head. No matter how good you are you can't fight gravity so why not make staying clean easier. The only thing you have to be afraid of with popcorn is if it has been badly water damaged it can start coming off a lot even in sheets when rolling.
Only use a airless spray gun, this is why the pop corn is falling off you never roll it
Had my roof leak repair guy at my house and he explained how I got an "air dam" from my attic that caused a leak at a window. He showed me how a ton of heat was escaping thru the attic door into the attic and causing the snow to melt and freeze. I have never heard of an attic tent and both of my houses that I lived in for 30 years had attic pull downs. I don't know why they don't make these mandatory as a building code. Great video of what I have to do and its not expensive at all. Thanx !
Thank you for making this video. I just moved into a place and began painting the walls of my laundry room, then noticed the popcorn ceiling looked even worse after I painted my walls white..it seriously looked like 10 chain smokers lived here. But anyways, NOW, I HAVE to paint the ceiling cos..well cos my projects keep having project babies!
Just what I was looking for. Cold snap heading our way. Thank you sir.
Same here. Installed today. Took less than 10 minutes to staple. Gonna do the caulking next.
Needed to hear that! Don’t be afraid! Thanks
You should have mentioned Asbestos Popcorn ceilings, they were real common in some states, especially California.
Also, I have wood floors so I will be picking up the plastic to lay down. The wet popcorn falling down is stuff nightmares are made of🤣
Plastic is ok, try and lay cardboard or an old sheet over the plastic. When paint drops on the plastic and you step on the paint drops, its going to pull the plastic up, especially if its thin Mil plastic. ✌
@@askledhead I ended up using a sheet. Also, I way underestimated the amount of paint needed. It's crazy how much I've used for a small area. I think I bit off a little more than I was prepared to chew🤣
Thank you for this. Messy is true!!! First few rolls I was getting bits on me....I came here to find the roller type. Thank you for recommending the extension pole. I'm in a 70's era beach rental and my ceilings are hideous. I completed all my trim and doors. I think the ceilings are going to make it super fresh. Thank you for the inspiration to be fearless!!
Thanks buddy. I’m never afraid. Got to paint these ceilings in my house. Don’t know if they’ve ever been done, but there a mess. Thanks for the tips!
Your the man a wealth of information I needed thank you
Is it better to prime the entire ceiling first if it has not been painted at all?
Yes, the ceiling is going to soak up the paint and it might not look uniform if it isn't primerd
@@askledheadjust painted my “knock down” ceiling and , yup it soaked up the paint. I figured paint nowadays has primer in it so that is my fault.
Hello there, hope you doing great today. I really liked the video and learn quite a lot in the process. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I need advice on painting my front and back door…
Are your doors Metal or wood, what kind of weather are your doors exposed to
@@askledhead they are metal. I’m in Kentucky so we have all seasons
Awesome video. Great message at the end. Very helpful video as I’ll be painting my mother in law’s textured ceilings in multiple rooms. This video will really help me. Thank you!
How do you know IF THE CEILING HAS BEEN PAINTED.?I’m guessing trying a small area to see the results?
So afraid to paint the ceiling with a roller heard toooo many stories about it coming back off and it being too wet, mercy it’s so hard to know what to do ,although you look to be doing a super job.wishing you lived closer lol, thank you for your time...
airless spray gun only
Thanks, I’m just about to do my neighbor’s living room and hallway. They have “popcorn” ceilings.
Thank you for doing this! Also history is pretty interesting!
