ToneHub SNK VHD preset vs. SNK VHD Pedal Matamp GT1

Here is a comparison of the STL Tones ToneHub SNK VHD preset with the guitar plugged directly into a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4, and the actual SNK VHD Pedal plugged directly into the front of a Matamp GT1 mkii, ran through an Orange PPC2x12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's, and mic'd with a SM57.
Your playing is great.
Idk they both make your guitar sound out of tune

Gt1 got fat and square sound, no fizzy hiss, my most fav amp ever

No but similar. Just a standard egc baritone with an acrylic body

Why not? Both amps eq’s both set to noon for comparison 🤷♂️
The Matamp will last longer.
I guess we will see..they were both built in 2017.. the matamp has had a few issues ironically

Have you played a gt120mv or a series3000? If so how do they compare to the gt1. Im about to buy a matamp and just want to make the right choice i mainly want it for the fuzzy square wave gain

I think the rockerverb is just about the perfect amp. I personally use a full tone drive to crispen up the distortion.

DD100 sounded the same on channel A and on ch B. I went back and watched again and I didn’t see you switch the channels, we’re you using a pedal?

Great job on the comparison. Both sound great in their own ballpark. But I mean…Matamp with all it’s saturation sounds like you have a dirty clean channel. All the dynamics, all the frequencies are there. DD is awesome for wuick modern sounds. Like a british Mesa.

Dual Dark sounds kinda muffled like you would have to really crank the treble to get it to stand out in a mix. They probably sound great together though.
Yea that’s my opinion as well. The dual dark has its place but it’s very quilted sounding to me and compressed
It’s also my first time trying to record and edit a demo vid so I think I could’ve done a better job dialing in amp levels. The orange was definitely a little more quiet but the gt1 is loud as hell either way haha
@@brattjames All a learning process. My GTO was indeed one of the loudest heads I've owned. Still interested in the DD100 but prices are insane right now.
