Party Tombstone 2 0
Sometimes you try to entertain others...sometimes yourself. I haven't given up on the party tombstone mostly because it's nonsensical and makes me smile. But I've made a few changes from last year to make it more engaging for everyone.

This Skeleton Is Bad to the Bone
มุมมอง 12114 วันที่ผ่านมา
It was love at first sight when I saw a skeleton playing a guitar and singing on another TH-cam channel. The maker of that skeleton wasn't interested in selling his creation, but he did provide guidance for me to make one of my own. I'll tell you before you ask where I bought the board that allowed an external audio source to move the skeleton's mouth: audioservocontroller.com. And this is the ...
Demon Footprints

I was really happy with a Halloween display effect last year featuring ghostly footprints walking across the yard from a crypt. However, not many people noticed it. This year I'm creating a jump scare based on the same but supersized effect.
Halloween: Carving Stone Walls from Styrofoam
มุมมอง 3252 หลายเดือนก่อน
I need to hide a large Halloween prop in an open yard and decided to place it behind stone walls carved from blocks of styrofoam. The blocks were free from Tractor Supply, having been used as cushioning for trailers during delivery to the store. Some stores will gladly give away the blocks; others keep them for return to the company. I used three inexpensive hot wire kits from Amazon to do most...

Tree-Size Halloween Lightning Bolt
มุมมอง 6563 หลายเดือนก่อน
Trial run of a 30-foot lightning bolt made by joining three 10-ft. sections of three-inch PVC pipe. Looks pretty good. "Full Scale" in this case means it's the final size I'm going to use on Halloween. The PVC will be painted black before Halloween.
Werewolf Moon(s)
มุมมอง 3285 หลายเดือนก่อน
My first Halloween photo op will feature a werewolf with cornstalks and a large full moon in the background. I tried a couple ways to make the moon, first planning one with internal lighting but finally deciding to project a moon image onto a large, sturdy circular screen.
Mausoleum for the Performing Arts
มุมมอง 3427 หลายเดือนก่อน
Nothing special here...just one of manyHalloween mausoleums found on TH-cam.. This one was made with 1x3 boards and sheets of rigid foam insulation. During the recent trick-or-treat, the mausoleum housed an amusing punk rocker skeleton bought from Costco. Not sure what its future use will be.
Lightning Bolt Prop--Proof of Concept
มุมมอง 7347 หลายเดือนก่อน
I want to add some storm effects to my Halloween display, including a lightning bolt. I'm trying out one way to make the prop combining two examples found on TH-cam. Those two examples: th-cam.com/video/gFftzla2APg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/4XrgGPtlUzk/w-d-xo.html
Pepper's Ghost in a Hearse
มุมมอง 2K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Pepper's ghost illusion is one of world's earliest illusions, based on the reflection of an image from a transparent surface such as glass, plexiglass or even heat-shrinkable window film. My goal was to use the technique to create the image of a ghost inside a prop Halloween hearse. I had intended to use inexpensive window film as the reflective surface but chickened out and replaced it wit...

Ancient Portal with Flame Lights
มุมมอง 46510 หลายเดือนก่อน
My yard is divided by a driveway. On one side, I created a cemetery scene with a bunch of skeletons and moving props. On the other side, I wanted something different and decided to make an ancient portal based on a similar prop made by the hosts of the Wicked Makers TH-cam channel. At first I was going to include videos copied from movies to project between the portal's columns, but most of the...
Bottomless Graveyard Monument
มุมมอง 803ปีที่แล้ว
A variation of the bottomless well prop, popular for Halloween displays. Instead of in a well, the illusion has been placed inside a graveyard monument to better fit into a cemetery theme. Infinity illusions despite being "old school" make especially fascinating props.
Party Tombstone
มุมมอง 401ปีที่แล้ว
Unintentionally, it seems several of my props this year are a bit silly. This was a project to make use of a new Fobbles machine, which can make fog, bubbles or fobbles, which are fog-filled bubbles. There isn't much need for a bubble maker in a cemetery, so I had to create a tombstone justifying use of the machine.

Interesting solution. Last summer I had a 7" Android tablet backscreen die on me. "Can I turn the LCD into a Project?" I thought. The final outcome was a large home built projector that mostly worked. It needed a better Light Source but it did the trick. I think ended up dropping $60 on a cheap 1080p Projector from Amazon, and making a screen from some net curtain. The biggest issue I came across was the throw distance of the Project Vs the window I had the screen on. Now this provides a slightly different idea of how to accomplish a better effect without having the Projector pointed directly at the window. Thank you. Also gives me ideas for some of my spare 7" tablets.....

Can you use a projector instead of a TV?

    • @ghostofautumnwood6379
      @ghostofautumnwood6379 หลายเดือนก่อน

No. Think of the reflector as a mirror. If you point a projector at it, you will see the projector...or more likely just the light glow coming out of the lens. If you want to use a projector, you could make a screen out of a gauzy material, like the Hollusion material sold by Atmosfx. Although material like that isn't entirely invisible, you can see what's behind the screen. I used a Hollusion screen for this ancient portal project: th-cam.com/video/O7Q15c_P6e4/w-d-xo.html

    • @ghostofautumnwood6379

I doubt it would have worked without the roller bearings along the top. I've built a larger crypt this year with its lid on an incline. A wiper motor struggles to move it, so I'm probably going to replace it with a linear actuator, which is stronger but has a less interesting movement.

If you're open to suggestions, mix some brown, green, and gray acrylic paints with water into spray bottles. Mist water/paint mixture across stones and allow it run. It will create an organic streaking and help tie the colors into your landscape.

I've always done a black and green wash on my previous "stone" props (mausoleum, tombstones, crypt, portal), but I'm not sure I'll go that route on the wall. I might just stuff some dried moss in the cracks...not sure. In any case, I appreciate your taking the time to make the suggestion. Best wishes.

But have to ask, in a window why use pepper ghost? why not just project onto the window itself? they literally have a setting for that in the fearfx videos and projectors are like $100 these days. Hi. Projecting video directly into a transparent material results in zero image other than a glow from the projector's lens. The light goes straight through. But a transparent material will *reflect* an image from a screen of some sort or from a real object itself. Apologies if I don't understand what you are suggesting.
