I totally understand where you are coming from. but I disagree with needed 10 points to start a store, because not everyone starting a store is coming from zero experience. I myself have worked for someone else’s bricklink store for years and know the business and what is expected pretty well.

As a customer, customer service goes so much further than pricing or parts. I've been a repeat customer because you're responsive. You respond to questions on BL. You ship quickly. I still remember the seller who blew me off and now they're someone I would never buy from. It was an order for $325 in about a dozen sets. The description was weird. Something was off and so I paused to message them before paying for the order. Figuring they'll be quick to respond because I told them what I was looking at buying. Never responded. It took them over a week to even open the BL message. I could see the date they opened and then crickets. Well, I saved my $325 and spent it elsewhere. What BL seller can't use a $325 order?

Brick Owl is great about adding additional orders or combining orders. I'm not sure why Bricklink can't figure it out and do the same thing.

Not sure its legal to NOT refund the total order value if a customer cancels. Its certainly not in the UK, you just have to eat the transactional loss.

Selling full time seems to be everybodys dream because they want to turn that "fun" hobby into something they can earn living from. BUT I don't think many realise the effort it takes in time, energy and money to make it happen. The hardest thing for me is cashflow, because you have to prioritise paying your mortgage and putting food on the table above buying stock. Onoly when you have covered the bills can you invest in new inventory and some months there's little if anything left for that and without that the store will begin to spiral in a downwards path. The other thing that people don't think enough about coming out of employment are the pension contributions, holidays and sick pay you get from your employer.

- - I've been winging it on BrickLink for two years. . .Totally making it up as I go, buying parts that are rare in sets from PickABrick and only making 1% for example, I used to just buy sets that had the biggest discounts to part out. Now I'm focusing on putting all my (small) profit into sets I think will be collectable(exclusives/hard to find) and holding for years . .

Would love to go full time but currently this is my hobby alongside my 2 main jobs. The dream is to work from home to run my bricklink store .

Look at baby Ralph and Derek! The advice is still just as pertinent then as it is now if not more so as inventory lots have become incredibly expensive as everyone tries to jump in on the dream!

Congrats on going full-time! Been trying to figure out what part-time brick selling and some other part-time income that could compliment it once I retire. Looking forward to more videos and your experiences doing it.
