How much does it cost to travel Colombia? A Complete Budget Breakdown
Colombia has been gaining in popularity these past few years, and for good reason. With amazing food, nice people, and a rich culture, it has quickly become a dream for travelers, budget backpackers, and digital nomads. In 2022, I spent 75 days living and traveling through Colombia, and I tracked every single expense.
I've broken it all down into 6 main categories, including Food, Accommodation, Transportation, Tours/Activities, Necessities, and extras.
The prices in the video are in Canadian dollars, but I have provided an exchange below for USD.
The costs are as follows:
Food:
$988.04 CAD
$734.14 USD
Accommodation:
$1,210.25 CAD
$899.25 USD
Transportation:
$396.60 CAD
$294.69 USD
Activities/Tours:
$175.60 CAD
$130.48 USD
Necessities:
$237.01 CAD
$176.11 USD
Extras:
$349.21 CAD
$259.47 USD
All coming together for a total of $3,356.70 CAD or $44.76 CAD per day.
After conversion, the total was $2,494.13 USD and only $33.26 USD per day.
Keep in mind that these expenses are directly related to my trip and my experiences but your trip will likely be different. Your itinerary can be completely different from this one, either cheaper or more expensive, but this is a good baseline budget for you to travel through Colombia.
Thanks for watching and if you have any questions, make sure to ask in the comments!!

Lems Boulder Boot Review After 6 Months - The Best Travel Boot?
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
After wearing the Lems Boulder Boot for six months while travelling through South America, here are my thoughts. In the review of the Boulder Boot we discuss the pros and cons of the current model and what I would personally like to see changed for future models. (Spoiler Alert, they have released a newer model that addressed my very few concerns.) The Lems Boulder Boot is incredibly light weig...

      Hey Brandon, Thank you! I actually haven't ended up buying the summits yet. I moved to Europe recently and just didn't have the room to bring more stuff with me. I will potentially get them in the coming months though. And yeah the sole on the Summits looks like it will be far more stiff than these. Sorry I couldn't give you a better comparison between the two at the moment!

      Thanks for the comment! I think it would depend on the work you are doing. My biggest concern for work would be how slippery they can get. I don't know about the summits as I haven't tried them. But these boulder boots can be slippery so I would just keep that in mind depending on the type of work you're doing!

    Hi. I like your review. Have a question. How did you find those waterproof shoes regarding breathability? I'd like to use Lems boots as my only shoes (with sandals) for my one bag travel only across different continents and climates. I was thinking about waterproof version but have read quite few posts about how hot they quickly become. Plus slow drying if they get wet. So I thought about nylon version. More breathable and will dry faster once they get wet. And if needed I could wear waterproof socks instead. What would be your take on it please?

    • @MichaelStayWild
      @MichaelStayWild ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thank you very much! I haven't tried the nylon pair so I won't be able to give you a direct comparison but you are correct that these seem to get a little warm. I didn't find it to be that big of an issue personally, my feet just got a bit sweaty on very warm days. As for them drying slowly, I didn't notice it from the outside because they are waterproof so if they're wet on the outside it didn't really make a difference to the comfortability but if you are referring to them being wet inside the boot then yes it can take a little while to dry them out at the end of the day. Depending what sort of activities you're going to do I think would be a big factor, and if you're planning to be in very warm climates as well, I would potentially consider the nylon with waterproof socks. I hope this helps you out!!

  • @NK-vw4ms

    thanks for the video. How long do you think these will last? I like traditional heritage boots because you can get 5+ years out of them. Does the comfort level make them wear out like normal sneakers?

    • @MichaelStayWild
      @MichaelStayWild ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I think it would depend on where you are wearing them and how they're being used but in my opinion I believe they would last a couple of years at least. Because of the comfort level and them being a more minimal shoe, I found that they do wear in quite a bit. Because they are already "foldable" they do tend to get even softer with time but because they are already a minimal boot, the support isn't quite there anyways compared to a regular boot. So all in all, I can't say confidently that they would last 5 years, due to them getting softer over time but if you are just using them for daily wear and taking care of them I would assume maybe 2 to 3 years. Ultimately it would come down to what you are using them for, how often you're wearing them in my opinion. As for the comfort level, they are still as comfortable now as they were when I got them, maybe even a bit more comfortable because they are more shaped to my feet. Hope that helps!

    Deeper tread means less barefoot feel, so it's a tradeoff. These are probably not meant for going through natural terrain-more so urban/suburban use on a rainy day. Deeper tread will be helpful on rocky and muddy terrain, but that just means your feet are that much further from the ground, so if you don't need that tread, it sort of defeats the purpose of a minimal boot. Just something to consider when evaluating why different use case scenarios might prefer different treads, and why an aggressive lug sole isn't necessarily always better.

    • @MichaelStayWild
      @MichaelStayWild ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you're right. I understand that completely. However, the marketing for the boots is more for the outdoorsy type, not the urban environment. It is specifically marketed for natural terrain and that's why I brought it up, and expressed my opinion on the matter. As I said in the video, they do have a newer model with more tread. And yes that may take away from the "barefoot" feel but if they are still lightweight with a wide toebox, I can't see there being a huge difference. But if a company markets towards natural terrain, it should perform well on natural terrain and that was my biggest concern with this product.

      @@MichaelStayWild I was interested to learn more about the injection blown rubber outsole, and they actually have a page on their website about this specific type of outsole. This is what they say (I bolded some text for emphasis): _________________________________________________ What is Injection Blown Rubber? Injection blown rubber is a mixture of air and rubber that makes shoes incredibly lightweight. Used for the outsole, *this material creates a lighter and more flexible shoe, but does compromise some of the durability compared to shoes with outsoles made using full rubber.* *What that means is that shoes with IBR outsoles are more likely to wear down quicker than their counterparts. Depending on your preferences and activity level, you may prefer super lightweight shoes made with IBR vs a more durable rubber.* What are the Best Activities for Shoes Made with Injection Blown Rubber? *To increase the life of the shoes, less rugged and more casual activities are best for shoes made with IBR.* These activities include: Daily office shoe Dog walking Chilling at camp Out and about around town Bike commuting Travel *Lems shoes that use IBR:* Primal 2 Primal Zen *Boulder Boots (all models)* Nine2Five Drifter Chillum Chukka *These shoes are all suitable for the activities mentioned above, and some work well for occasional walks or hikes on easy terrain.* Some people may prefer the lightweight aspect, *especially if they are using these models casually as opposed to hiking or other more strenuous activities.* *If you’re looking for a shoe that can handle more rugged terrain and is overall more durable, these are the Lems shoes that use a full rubber outsole:* Outlander Trailhead Mesa Primal Pursuit These shoes make great candidates for hiking, trail running, and that two week travel adventure that has you on your feet all day long. _________________________________________________ I'm not familiar with the marketing for this particular boot, but if it is being advertised as a rugged hiking boot, that directly contradicts the excerpt above. If you want to see this article for yourself, you can Google "injection blown rubber"-it'll probably be the first link you see.
