1960 - Sing to Jehovah Record #403a - Pipe Organ
From an extremely scratchy vinyl record stored in a barn for over 50 years. We cleaned it up as well as possible. The very last song was so scratched and ruined we could even run the phonograph needle over it to track properly. Thus we don't have that one digitized. Kingdom songs played on a five manual theatre pipe organ!

Many people aren't aware that the "Divine Name" YHWH, Jehovah, the Tetragrammaton, was in the Greek translation of the scriptures used by Jesus and Apostolic Christians of the 1st century. This video shows fragments of the LXX, Greek Septuagint, the 'bible' used by the very first Christians, and what today's most recognized of Christendom's scholars say about them

It's a shame there's no video with this. There must have been some comic scenes we miss out on. But it is quite historical and even hysterical at times. Our Gilead Missionaries have more then just preaching and bible skills as we hear in this old, quite rough recording from February 2, 1957. Still some worthy charm with foreign folk music and parody music "picking on" named teachers of the Gile...

    Worship and love mean different things depending on the context. I love God. I love bread pudding, obviously mean totally different TYPES of love. After telling the man that the law states 'You must love Jehovah your God with your entire being', Jesus added 'and love your neighbour as yourself'. Not as you love God. Matthew 22:36-39. Jesus showed the difference between worship given humans and worship that God should only get. (Matthew 4:10) Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is TO HIM ALONE YOU MUST RENDER SACRED SERVICE.’” The worship given Jesus and others had no 'SACRED SERVICE' intended.

    I have most or all of this New World Records series which was sold on a multi-CD set years ago by someone on eBay, & I'm wondering if you know anything about the context or history. Were they officially authorized by the organization? Because it says made by "one of" Jehovah's Witnesses, and says it's from Los Angelas, so that makes me think otherwise. UNLESS it was done by those close to the organization but not officially, kind of like with Angels & Women (Seola remake) or Marley Cole's The New World Society?

    • @JehovahsWitnessHistoryOnFilm

      From what I hear, the recordings are separate from the Society. Though they most likely weren't authorized, apparently, there was no problem with them being recorded by Witnesses. Do you still happen to have the CD set? Is it possible to make a duplicate set for us, or even just loan them to us? Thanks?

    While nowhere near a slam dunk like returning the divine name to the OT, I do understand the argument for placing it in the NT. I personally would have left it in just the quotes from the hebrew scriptures. But who knows? Every other bible translation team can't even get it right to restore the divine name, where we know it DOES belong, so maybe the NWT is right.....

    The original Greek Bible used in Jesus' day = The Old Testament only = The original Greek version of the Tanach up to ascension? The New Testament had original Hebrew fragments or copies of Hebrew? We do have amended copies today, don't we?

    • @JehovahsWitnessHistoryOnFilm
      @JehovahsWitnessHistoryOnFilm 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, When looking at the NT quotes from the OT they most of the time, match closer to the Greek version of the Hebrew OT. It is said the Gospel of Matthew was originally written in Hebrew, although no ancient fragments of the NW have been found in Hebrew (as far as I have studied). There is a later copy of Matthew known as "Shem Tov's version" but it's assumed date of it being copied from an older 4th or 5th century writing is highly questioned along with it's accuracy. Also there are no early Greek copies of the NT that don't have the Nomina Sacra revisions.

    • @raularaujo3471
      @raularaujo3471 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      O nomina sacra é uma prova que o tetragrama estava no NT original. Embora se encontre nomina sacra para diversos nomes considerados sagrados como Cristo, Cruz ou Espírito . Há indícios que no princípio dessa tradição era usado apenas ao tetragrama.

    God or the universe must be messing with us if this isnt Whitney Houstons Mother. She looks like her, sounds like her, same cadence of speaking, even the witty side we know of whitney u can hear it in her when she speaks, when she acts, when she does interviews, facial expressions, bone structure. its ridiculous. one weird is that the industry never brought up the fact that they looked alike, it could have been something people had fun with , oh Whitney and Theresa look so much alike, maybe an interview with oprah - but nothing. Theresa was a lil giant in her day so it would make sense if they both came together and showed how much similar they were. so the fact theresa stayed away from the spotlight during whitneys reign is crazy, almost like maintaining a big secret and then she passes away quietly and i dont recall that being major news. the strangeness around it all makes it even more likely that its her mother. Whitney was already a troubled child before Clive found her being raised in family where her dad and Cissy already had a child each from previous relationships and then she grew up noticing i dont look like no one in this family except Daddy

    Except it wasn't really a committee as such. The only person having knowledge of biblical Greek in the committee was Frederick Franz. The other person on the committee that had a Greek background was br. Gangas, but he only had knowledge of modern day Greek and no knowledge of koin'e Greek which was the historical Greek language used in the Bible. So in reality the NWT was the work of Frederick Franz. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad translation, but it is quite a strech to call it a committe - it might have been a comittee reaching agreement on the final wording in English, but it was not a committee of translators. My grandfather had a small 8 minute roll of 16mm film where br. Lyman Swingle said exactly that and he jokingly called it "a committee of one". We shouldn't be too surprised as since the passing of br. Rutherford Frederick Franz had been the author of practically all significant literature published by the Watchtower up until he finished his earthly course. Br. Nathan Knorr was no theological scholar but he was a gifted organizer and he streamlined the organization in many ways during his presidency, inventing the Gilead, Kingdom Ministry School (first for travelling overseers and later for all elders), the Theocratic Ministry School, etc. and it was for these qualities he was elected president. Br. Frederick Franz was actually the natural successor after Rutherford - fun fact it was actually Frederick Franz trat studied the baptismal questions with Nathan Knorr when Knorr was about to become baptized. But Frederick Franz didn't seek fame or recognition. He was very pleased with a more invisible role as the Vice President leaving him more time for research and writing of new literature to the worldwide congregation of Jehovah's people.

      Fortunately, Jehovah knows the exact right people for what needs to be done at the time. There are other bible translating committees that done something of the sort the NWT committee had. There are quite a few translations that were translated by one sole person that were quite good. For other translations, there may be one scholar that studied a certain language or even studied specific books of the bible that were the primary translator and the rest of the committee provided input. The NET bible is one that comes to mind. The 2013 edition certainly had additional scholars that updated and 'tweaked' the NWT for more modern readers and made more fit to be translated into other languages. Regardless the NWT has proven to be well ahead of its time and is even become a standard that other translators (it seems) have followed. Praise Jah!
