Back out underground after months!! Had to visit my favourite mine🤗
Hafod Boeth Manganese Mine
มุมมอง 7498 หลายเดือนก่อน
I've been to this mine a few times, but not many actually know about it's hidden location. I tried taking Emily here a few weeks ago after visiting a different mine in the area and by the time we got here it was pitch black, so we turned back. I decided to come back in the daylight because it's a lovely obscure mine and I've not been to a manganese mine for a while 😊
Rhiwbach Slate Mine (1812 to 1952)

Been to this mine plenty of times, but have never made video here, seeing as a video was long overdue anyway, thought why notv😊
2 Slate Mines.. One Day
มุมมอง 93211 หลายเดือนก่อน
Decided to visit Hen Gloddfa Slate Mine in Aberllefenni, and in way home Gaewern Slate Mine to show Garry the beautiful carved slate steps. See if you can hear the ghostly miner clearing his throat and spitting at 50:19, and some one whislteling faintly at 59:30 then some ghostly voice at 50:35. Proper spooky 👀👻🤯.... But needs volume louder
Foxdale Lead Mine (33 Fathom Level)

Merry Christmas everyone from me, Shonky Tours 🎅 Today instead of going Christmas shopping I decided to get soaking wet exploring Pandora Lead mine
in Memory of Chris. Parc Level 3
มุมมอง 2.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Was only 3 weeks ago I visited Parc level 2 with Emily, my girlfriend. It was her 1st lead mine and she conquered it effortlessly. Never seen anyone as nimble, and not a single moan or complaint 😇. She was too camera shy to record a video, so I went back 3 weeks later to film level 3. I uploaded this video especially for my friend Christian who took is life last week, in his memory xxx....... Fotty & Bowydd Slate Mine
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
Back underground after a long absence, took Antonio (Underground Explorer UK), Egil and Truz from Norway and Guy to Fotty & Bowydd mine on Saturday, the 30th of September. This was my first video in 6 months, yes I'd been underground with my girlfriend Emily in between, but didn't film any mines.
Local Slate Mine
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Due to the bad weather, and being without a car for a week or 2 I was forced to visit a local slate mine near my house. As I'd previously visited the higher levels last week I decided to visit the lowest level for you to see. Filled with amazing artifacts, old graffiti and flooded chambers
Brittania Copper Mine (Part 1)
มุมมอง 969ปีที่แล้ว
Decided to take the long walk up the miners track to near the top of Snowdon to visit Britannia Copper mine high up on the slopes. I was disgusted to find what I did inside first adit so it put me off exploring the rest of the adits until I go back weekend #lostmines #abandonedmines #snowdonia #ShonkyTours #coppermine

Rhosydd - Part 1, (The Eastern Workings)
Great vid as always. We attempted this one last winter (time goes so fast), but they were working at the entrance, so we explored the top quarry instead, in the pouring rain. Hoping to get back this winter. Keep the vids coming. Always a good day when you upload.
Thank you for taking us back to when we visited as kids it was scary then and still iis whish they would re open it Can I ask what is all the white bits on the floor please.
Been waiting sooo long for a new video 😀
Hi Chris, we were in Rhosydd yesterday 18/11/24. At 22.37 sec, you hop over the gap and see a glimpse of daylight from the West Twll. We got to this spot but it seemed we couldn't get any further, it was when I re watched this video last night at home, you evidently walked up the rubble to the next level. I have an excellent book ' Rhosydd Slate Quarry ' written by M.J.Lewis & J.H Denton, which we refer to as well as your videos. The info in the book and your superb videos made the visit top drawer. We had a quick look in Conglog on the way back down, but darkness was fast approaching so will have to look for one of your videos. I notice in the comments you don't mind accompanying others down into the mines, we (my mate and I ) have done a couple of trips down Maenofferen and would like to go with someone knowledgeable. Even after watching your trips, there's must be loads of stuff we miss, when from memory trying to follow in your footsteps. We fully understand if you no longer have 'hangers on '. Regards, Ben.
You climb up the waste tip, there's rough path a bit further up which takes you to west twll. At West twll you cross the broken bridge, carry on through 2 chambers until you get to a chamber where you can't go no further, in this chamber you will see rough path down tip, go down until slate waste steps down, then head across to your left. Here is gsp to squeeze through, go through 2 chambers and climb up waste again you will get to different level with hobnail boots and artifacts, head right over small fall looking for tunnel, here you will get to another incline where at top is big pulley or at bottom of incline carry on further until you see manway down, this will get you yo Croesor mine, but from there on you need abseiling gear and ascenders. I really don't mind taking people underground, it saves me going alone, do just get in touch
@@shonkytours2039 Many thanks for your prompt reply Chris. Just one question at this point, how do I send you a private message ? Regards, Ben.
@carlover-sb8go send me message on messenger as I can't upload phone number on youtube facebook.com/profile.php?id=100039799521096
Hi Chris. It's so good having back as been to long with out your videos as love your videos cos you are so knowledgeable of them and say so much about them and the respect you have of the men who worked them and the danger they worked. So glad to have you back👍👍👍. James
Remember going around that when it was a show mine, assuming it's where I think it is...
Great explore, I've been in there in the past, thanks for the memories. God bless
Good to see you back!
GREAT video!!! You'll have to train the puppy as an underground dog (like Alfie on another channel)
@@tomtom4405 yes I've been out with Alfie a couple of times 👌😅 have to persuade girlfriend though 🙈😂

Good to see you back dude! 😎
Thanks, been way too long, but can go out more often again now luckily 👌
Half expecting a Balrog to rock up out of the gloom. And men spent 12 hours a day, six days a week down there?
Yes, in candlelight too, got nothing but respect for those miners 😊
You are a busy man my friend ! 🙋🏻♂️🥰🐶🤦♀️good to see you back exploring ⚒️🙋🏻♂️ you’ll need to join us lot some time soon with the mid wales crew they can’t wait to meet you 🙌🏻
Yes, been away far too long 😩, but now I'm back in Wales I can get out more often. Got loads of videos I havnt uploaded because didn't think good enough
@ awesome ! Will have to sort a trip out soon 🙌🏻⚒️
Good to see you back! Feel like I should be able to identify the mine from the angle of the seam. From the narrowness of that track, I'm pretty sure I know where it isn't.
I've worked out where it is myself.
Long time my Friend:)
Yes, way too long 😩
It's been a while! 😊
@@dazbarber71 yes, too long😩
Those are miners PEE...
Hope your're doing well mate. Any new videos planned? Am hoping to get out to Votty in the coming weeks.
@@reteptetep5078 yes doing OK, just got a puppy so not able to go out as often, but got few videos I havnt uploaded yet 😊
although conditions are traditionally optimal for iron to oxidize, no doubt the swinging in the bridge is just it getting stronger & showing off with a wiggle.
Did you go in the adit above the tunnel? It's in the open quarry part of Fron Boeth
Great footage, thanks for sharing. The waterfalls shown at the end receive a steady stream of visitors, thanks to a lot of internet publicity for this (so called) "secret" waterfall.
Thanks very much for sharing. Some very interesting and exciting footage there.
Thanks very much for this. It was especially good to see the historic graffiti and all the abandoned equipment. The scrap men did not leave much behind above ground, but I did come across the base of a wagon turntable a few weeks ago. It was in the woods just off the waymarked Blue trail.
How did you get into there?
Saw this on TV, but your tour is much more informative, great video Chris 👍👍👍 another great history lesson!
ive got very old photos of my great great grandad hanging bu y a chain , thay were real men back then
went into Wrysgan (lower entrance) a couple of months ago and there were 2 nice slab cart wheels ....yesterday they were gone ?? Hopefully they have been put in a safe place .
Brilliant explore thanks for sharing
Amazing history. Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate.
@@paulmckeon9561 thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 👌
What a trip .. all i can say is you guys have big balls. Many thanks for taking us with you all. Look forward to more.
Bloody hell that gave me anxiety in parts! 😂 I'd love to push the boundaries myself, but for now, I'll stick to the easiest one's
Definitely getting a second watch.
Great adventure this one, been binge watching all week, its became obsessive viewing .
Love your videos mate very informative, amazing colours in this one. Thanks for sharing.
@@paulmckeon9561 thanks Paul 😊 Just wish I wasn't so busy working away and could upload more videos at the moment😩
@@shonkytours2039 Love to join you one day mate when you've the time, think it's amazing what you do.
Brilliant video mate
Another one for me to find. Found secret Gwaith Mango entrance fairly easy without instructions from anyone, only personal research, so got another little challenge 🤙
Gwaith Mango is pretty straight forward, appart from the hidden entrance, but this mine is tough to find, I couldn't even find it myself in the dark and I'd been there loads 🙈😂
Stunning 👍
Love this place
Yes, this is one of my favourite mines. You've got bryneglwys one side which is amazing and hendrewallog otherside of valley, which is even better!! Even found a 1758 carved graffiti😍, I'll try upload proper video soon
@@shonkytours2039can't wait for the whole video man, this the one the talylyn railway was built for?
Great artifacts again, nice to see they've survived. Great video Chris 👍
Amazing 👏 what does robbing the pillars mean
When they take the slate out of the walls to get easy access to slate, which will probably lead to future roof collapses. Usually done if mine was about to close
Definitely mine porn 😂
