Your comment about asking people to lower they're thermostats (a reasonable precaution) reminded me of some examples of governmental lunacy here in America. I wish the Governors here were as reasonable as Canada. In the summer of 2022, the year when the summer was hell on earth, Governor Newsome of California cut the power to people's homes if they're electricity was online. These folks had no air-conditioning in 40C (100F) degree heat. He didn't ask them to raise the thermostat, he just cut the power. That was the year when the forest fires in California were so bad. Those people lost their homes. Later it was discovered that the reason for the forest fires was due to bad forestry management. The governor required the department of forestry to stop the practice of creating fire breaks on the forest floor. These fire breaks were created by removing a long line of deadfall every mile or so. That way the fire would only burn up that one mile and then stop. But no, Newsome wrote an executive order to stop this practice creating an endless chain of combustible material. In Hawaii, the island of Maui burned to the ground due to the import of non-indigenes grasses that ignited really easily. The government of Maui was warned many years before that bringing these non-indigenes plants into the island would cause a fire hazard, but the government of Maui didn't listen and they lost their island.

I feel your pain. I have no high school diploma photos because I have a twin sister she walked and got her diploma ahead of me so the company took her pictures but they said they weren’t set up to take photos of back to back graduates. But they told us they could reverse the image from my sister and we could pretend it was me. I was very insulted at that. 😂

I finished a piece recently and then noticed that one section of the sky was a slightly different shade. Rather than unpick it I used the correct shade and stitched over the top of some of the existing stitches to blend it in a little. The extra thickness is barely noticeable and when framed behind glass, no-one will know but me (and now you).

I bought a while 60” wide bolt on eBay, unfortunately that seller is no longer active but it’s a good place to check regularly. If you are in the US Yarntree sells large pieces, there is a 60”x5 yard 14 count available www.yarntree.com/cross-stitch/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=85_1345_92 Outside of the US Wool Warehouse sells by the meter and they ship internationally www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/fabric?application=46138&fabric_size=38424 Field’s Fabrics sells 60” wide 14 count aida by the yard and ships internationally as well. shop.fieldsfabrics.com/Needlework-Fabric-14-ct-Aida-Cross-Stitch-60-Wide-Cotton-Fabric-by-the-Yard-2465F-1F_p_90418.html

I made the same mistake with white dmc on a HAED recently. Glad it wasn’t that many stitches to redo.

So I'm trying your method of stitching but since I park left bottom, I'm going to stitch from the right side of the pattern to the left side... Tried from the left side to right side, but I felt like working against my hand ... so now trying from the other direction 😉🙂

Oh wow so many haha. Mostly historical romance like Laura Lee Guhrke, Mary Balogh, Tessa Dare, Shelly Thacker, Lavyrle Spencer, and Julie Anne Long. And the Outlander series although imo that one jumped the shark after book four

I love to watch you stitch. Its so beautiful. I am participating in this years SAL with HAED and I only got the 4 pages done to get all 10 charts but i wont get the two of my choice because I wont finish in time. I will finish but I doubt will be the whole thing by the deadline. Im ok with that though. And I am participating in the SAL for 2025. Im doing the Drinks on the Beach. It is so many beautiful colors and I cant wait!! I dont like driving in the snow and ice. I am no good at it because I had a few traumatic incidents that scared me quite badly. So at all cost I avoid it if I can. I just panic when people get to close or are driving too fast for the conditions. I would love to stitch mostly by natural light but I dont have a good spot to do so. It is better than artificial lighting especially with dark colors. I am doing a HAED that is mostly dark blues and purples and I dont stitch on it as much as I did when my husband was doing therapy sessions. I would take my stitching and it was a spot that I had so much sunlight until the stitching was so very easy to see. I stitch on that one from time to time but not 3 times a week or more like I used to. I just had to tie off some threads with my SAL because I knew one thread was in the wrong place but I couldnt tell it and another couple apart because they were so close. I tied them off and started over. I tried to compare with what I thought they were but it was just too close and I didnt want to continue stitching with it.

This is a good insight into how parking works! I was always curious about how it works and this is a great example! I don’t think I could incorporate it into my stitching cause the lose threads would drive me nuts, but I can see how it does work for some!! Thanks Gemma.

I have used plenty of blended colours. I had a pattern which used 2 strands of orange colours which were just too bright, so I used 1 orange thread and one red thread just to mute the colours a little. I just begin with a tail start and have no problem with them at all.

Your stitching is beautiful. I ordered those needles that you use when you talked about them in another video. I love them and am on my second order of them. I have several wips and I leave my needles with the projects on needle minders. They are great!

Love Faulty Towers. British comedy is the best lol Keeping Up Appearances and Victor of Dibley are epic. I bought the Hubs a box set of Victor of Dibley for Christmas one year. Its hard to find in the states though.

I posted a question on Facebook about the largest projects people were stitching or had completed. The biggest was 2.4 million stitches. WOW. The competitor in me wants to take up that challenge but even if you could do 1,000 stitches a day it would take more than 7 years to complete. No thanks. I think I will stick to maybe 100k - 200k projects.
