Which Emotiva amp do you have? I’m getting a hum from the McIntosh. I don’t think Pioneer has enough output on the RCA pre outs for the McIntosh. On the manual it says 1volt. I believe I need at least 2.8 volts. Are you getting clean audio via the Emotiva

That’s right. HEOS is lagging behind when it comes Atmos but you can get Atmos from the Tidal app on AppleTV if you have AppleTV.

My noise floor was at -57 db and I increased the volume to -25 db before running DIRAC. In your experience is that the correct way to do it. Thanks for the feedback.

If you have DVDs that are for other regions, you can switch the region on the PS5 and watch the DVD. This setting only affects DVDs. Blu-ray’s and games will not be affected.

No. A1 EVO doesn’t recommend adjusting the trims after running the program. You can validate it to make sure the trims are accurate. If you ran Audyssey correctly then there is no additional tweaking needed.

You can use the Rear USB A input to connect a USB drive to the R7 and import your music onto the R7 or play directly from the USB using the onboard FiO music app.

I also plan on using the combo as the preamp system to one of my high-powered main amps. I have 2x Adcom 555s, a Carver m-500 and the NAD 208thx. All of these amps are +300watts/channel, with the NAD pushing 250watts/8ohms and 425watts/4ohms, going to my 93db aDs 910 loudspeakers. Probably be my end-game setup.

Nice! I used the slow roll off. For PCM you can bypass the filter if I remember correctly.

Thank you for comment. I wanted to do all 7.4 or 7.3 and not mix and match at least for the fronts. 7.3’s were too big for my room. I wouldn’t have gotten the channel separation with the CT7.3 up front in my room. That’s basically the reasoning. Good luck with the build out! I do love the CT7.4. This is my second time around with them. I had them for a year then switched them out for the 702 S2 and the HTM71 S3. Then after a year switched back to the CT7.4 and 7.5 combo.

The X1800H is a 7.2 or 5.2.2 receiver. It only has pre outs for the front L/R. The Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505 is a 9-Channel receiver and can process 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 with the onboard 9-channel amplifiers. It has pre outs for 7.2.4 and is future proof to extent from that point of view. Definitely worth it for $899.99 at Best Buy. Thanks for the question.

@@Chrisratata Agree. The HDR Optimizer is helpful in projectors in my opinion. Not so much on TVs especially with Dolby Vision content and the fact that most TVs perform tone mapping on their own. The Panasonics HDR optimizer was very useful on my Sony 4K VPL-VW295ES projector because it didn’t have internal HDR tone mapping and specular heights were over blown like in that scene.

@magnoliamo the projectors thing makes sense, since their brightness definitely doesn't peak as high as a large majority of TVs from what I understand. That said, 4K discs are authored with a variety of max luminance levels that nonetheless exceed the peak brightness of the average person's 4K tv. My point is that even if one's TV is technically below the peak brightness of the content they're watching, it's at the very least not uncommon for the scenes that reach that peak brightness to only occur during a small percentage of the film's runtime. It depends a lot on the movie (for example, Oppenheimer's HDR has a fairly low nit count that most TVs can handle) and especially on the decisions made during color grading and disc authoring...hence people should adjust their expectations accordingly. As for DV, HDR Optimizer is entirely disabled for all Dolby Vision and HDR10+ playback since those encodes control the tone mapping. Many modern day TVs have tone mapping but many say almost all of them don't perform as well as the Panasonic player does it (I couldn't say), hence the TV's tone mapping should be set to off when one chooses to turn HDR Optimizer on, many people suggest.

Thanks for the question. Ideally they need to be at the same height as the front height in order to create the height layer above the bed layer speakers. Place the surround height speakers directly above your surround speakers. From Auro-3D: Angle downwards: Aim the speakers slightly downwards at a roughly 30-degree angle towards your listening position. Ear level when standing: Ideally, the speaker should be roughly at ear level when you are standing. Not directly on ceiling: Unlike some Dolby Atmos setups, Auro-3D typically does not recommend placing height speakers directly on the ceiling.

@ Hi. I decided on keeping the A1 Evo curve as well because I was happy with the results. A1 Evo Nexus seemed more involved to me. I will try it eventually but not at this time.

Currently testing the Pioneer Elite VSX LX-505. I’ve heard the Denon x3800 at my cousins home and at Best Buy. I have heard that the RZ70 sounds the best. I wanted to get the RZ70 but couldn’t resist the deal on the Pioneer.

What is disappointing and unnecessary? The fact that Sony is giving you an option to play multi-region DVDs which no other Gaming console has the option for?

@ Didn’t you put that the region can be changed only 5 times!

@nr-xp3dc Correct. That’s only if you want to change it back or to other regions. You only change it once and stay with that region. I only changed it once for that DVD. It doesn’t affect Blu-ray region. So I have been watching region 1, 4K and 1080p, Blu-ray’s, and this European DVD when I want to.

@@magnoliamo So if you have a collection of DVDs from all over the world , then after changing the region 5 times you are stuck with one region, correct me if I’m wrong!

@ Yes, it’s not a multi region player. That’s what you meant. You have a collection of DVDs that are multi region. Then I agree PS5 will not meet your needs if you are looking to use it as a multi region player.

@@magnoliamo Brother, I have a few doubts. I'm new to the IMAX thing, so I have a lot of silly questions. I have to have an IMAX-certified TV to watch movies in IMAX, right? If I get it, do all of the 4K Blu-rays, or even the digital 4K ones that come with those black screens, disappear? In case they don't, there are a few movie scenes, like Top Gun: Maverick and Aquaman, that have the IMAX aspect ratio. Those can be seen with the normal TV itself, so then what is the use of IMAX-certified TVs? And what's that IMAX audio thing? IMAX is for videos only, right? What is it going to do with audio?

@Thedestroyer99955 Watch the first part of the Equalizer 3 review that I did. I explain IMAX enhanced. TV needs to have IMAX Enhanced for IMAX DMR (Digital Media Remastering Technology and Noise Reduction). IMAX Enhanced is more than just the aspect ration. There are IMAX Enhanced movies with the black bars. In the addition to the TV the Receiver needs to have the IMAX Enhanced post process mode and the Blu-ray Disc also needs to have the IMAX DTSX audio and video. So, you can’t just play any movie, it needs to be an IMAX Enhanced title on Disney+ or Sony Pictures Core App.

Marantz AV8805A is gone. You are correct in that I lose 13-Channel processing and Auro 3D. I’m just trying this out for Dirac. Plan is still to get the AV10 God Willing.
