Best Sitting Position After Knee Replacement
When I’m running it’s ok but later in the day the heel hurts when walking. If I rest it the pain goes away
Had knee replacement 2001 and 2 revisions since. The band filling is there some days more than others. Tylenol and arthritis cream to area helps on bad days. I can walk 4 miles usually before it gets so tight I walk with a limp. Never let it stop you from exercising keep moving. 68 year old man and retired.
Lesson I learned never get knee replacement for pain and bone to bone. Especially if you are under 50 years old for your body will produce more scar tissue when you are younger. Lots of therapy-braces and counciling and anti-inflammatory medication before knee replacment. Change your profession or go on disability if you are under 50 years old. Let surgery be the very last thing to do after intense knee and mental therapy. It was the most pain and mental anguish I ever experienced when I was 45 years old having right knee replacement. Took 19 more years and 2 revision before I can say life is good after knee replacment now being a 68 year old retired man I can walk 4 miles before I am in pain with my knee!!
Im a lifelong runner. My PF sneaks up on me. It will start with me feeling stiff all over. Next thing I know I start limping because my foot hurts. This time around it's because I've been running too much with no rest days. It just takes so long to heal. I'm good now because I'm taking rest days. I also been stretching my foot up and down. I pull my toes back. I used a golf ball to roll out the areas. I rolled out my tight calves and I wore multiple running shoes throughout the day. If my foot started hurting I would change my shoes and wear something else. I'm surprised how I ignored my need for recovery. I was doing too much because I love to be outside running
The amount of information about the drawbacks of this surgery is staggering. This is just one of many. Unfortunately, I am just learning about them now, four weeks after my surgery. Not surprisingly, the list of "possible" after effects that was given to me verbally was much much shorter. If I had it to do do over, I would never have had the surgery done. I feel like I have traded one problem for a whole list of others.......plus an endless recovery period. I feel like I've been screwed.........
Such good advice. I had pain from the tourniquet after surgery. The pain did start at day 4-10. Then. A light at the end if the tunnel happened. After a nasty home PT. So definitely push yourself. My fisrt car ride to the orthopedic appt was fine until I got home. OMG. The leg spasms were terrible. It was an Oxi kind of night. Better the next day. Time. Time is what is needed. And push yourself as the PT tells you. Do not do above and beyond. That is a rabbit hole you do not want to go into.
Was in hospital for 10 days!! Horrible pain
Hi! Does the Sunny have enough resistance to be a good exercise for knee osteoarthritis or some meniscopathy?
Wow! Because Crocs flare up my plantar fasciitis.
This is awesome
Such a good review! You mentioned they each have a different range of motion. Which one would you recommend for someone that had a total knee replacement? My mom had one about two months ago. I want to ger her something like this but not sure which if the bike or elliptical would be better. Thank you
I actually prefer the Sunny for after knee replacement. Especially if the person is under 6ft tall.
Brilliant.. thank you! 2 weeks post TKR … great advice , explained so well.🇦🇺
We hope you're already feeling some relief! Thank you so much for helping us spread the word about NecksLevel, we truly appreciate your support!
Great advice! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so very much. This is really helpful 👍🏻🇬🇧🙏
I've worn Crocs for years. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn and will never wear anything else unless I had a job interview, work place requirements or for other safety reasons.
I’ve had both knees replaced over a year ago the last one March 2023. Now only my right knee gets the tight band feeling and i did that knee first in Nov 2022. It only gets tight if i’m still for a good while like sitting. I can loosen it up with movement after a few moments.
Day 3, for me, was horrible. This was when I started to take the narcotics, which was Tramadol 6 hours before bed and Oxycodone at bedtime. I did this for a little over a week at night since that was when all h$% broke loose. Once my body decided to rest for the night, the pain became severe and unbearable. Once the pain started to subside, Tylenol followed thereafter. DON'T BE AFRAID TO TAKE THE NARCOTICS, AND STAY AHEAD OF THE PAIN!!
After 13 weeks, I do I’ve been having this problem. When I met with my doctor, he did a full exam of my knee and said it’s scar tissue, which will eventually go away, but it will require work on my part, such as forcing the bend further flexion, Doing single leg strength exercises, using the leg press machine and reverse leg extensions as well as regular leg extensions.
Very good analysis making my situation clear. Thank-you!
7 WEEKS OUT. MY CALVES ARE STILL SWOLLEN. IS THIS NORMAL¡
I had plantar fasciitis before leadville 100, during my race i felt no pain at all. Then a couple days after my race it came back lol. I had achillis tendonitis before PF, the doctor warned me about getting PF after AT
Still have stiffness in my knee had surgery in March then went in for a MUA in May and my knee is still stiff
I am 9 months out from my knee replacement and don't have pain but I do have the tightness and band feeling around my knee. I spoke to both surgeon and PT. After hearing video and reading comments, glad to know its not just me. Still have to wonder why PT and Surgeon act like its only me. I kept thinking maybe I have nerve damage or blood flow problems. I wish someone had a fix for this. Several people I know who have recent knee replacements do not have this feeling and sensation.
Thankyou so much very helpfull
Thank you for all your videos! They have been very helpful. I am sure I speak for many when I say, I which you were located in Maryland. This Wed. I will be 3 weeks post op. My first PT app. My flexion was 60 degrees, now almost three weeks out, my flexion has not changed from 60 degrees. It feels as if there is a block that stops it from moving. I am very anxious about not having any movement after 4 PT appointments and all the work I am putting into getting it to move. When I try to do the heal slides, the knee does not hardly move. I am going to try to work the quad as you are mentioning in this video! Again, thank you so much for all that you do to educate us!
Quad tightness is problematic for me 2 weeks out from tkr.
I'm 5 weeks PO. I have the tight band feeling around my knee all the time. Actually, I am on a FB sight, and everyone has this feeling. I asked the physical therapist about this, and she said many explain to her the same, but many have said, all of a sudden it disappears. I have a very knowledgeable surgeon which I will see next week. This is one of the questions I was going to address. I will say when I am inflamed the swelling is worse. I try to eat as healthy as possible, but when I do have a day where I have "cheated" I have much more pain and the tight band feels worse the next day. It was difficult today getting through my exercises as I don't rely on pain pills as directed. Only one a day. So, in short, I believe wholeheartedly inflammation is a huge culprit!
Excellent info, thanks! I now feel confident I can choose. 🙏
This is fantastic, needed this video 4 weeks ago 😍 know what I'm doing this week!
Mines is in my left foot. I can run for about an hour until it's just unbearable. I still would love to finish a marathon in my life
Croc sandals, in particular the model “Patricia” and “Patricia II” completely healed my plantar fasciitis. I have two pairs left and wear them everyday around the house. I am Mexican and live in Mexico City
Hey there. Just fyi the promo code is for $15 not 15%. :)
Tony, not sure if you will read this response but I must tell you that I've watched and APPLIED most of your exercises for knee flexion. My patella fracture left me with 25 degree flexion at six weeks when the brace was removed and I thought my life was over! After six weeks of physical therapy AND doing most of your knee flexion exercises, I am now at 130 degrees! THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
Wow. That’s amazing. I am so happy for you and thanks for the comment.
Standing position is it my best position. I’m a pharmacist it’s that ok but still with a lot of pain
What happened to the other name for the utube that I've been watching?
When I sleep on my side my arms go numb. If I roll a pillow and sleep on my back I don’t have an issue, other than I can’t sleep long on my back and end up on my side. I think I should try this pillow! My husband thinks I’m pillow crazy, but I’ve been searching for the best for my neck. I also have chiari and get headaches. Hoping this pillow works!
Greeting sir Orthoscopic surgery was done for knee bending. Suggest some tablets or something along with stiff knee exercises to reduce daily stiffness and reduce the process of adhesion regeneration. I exercise three times a day and when I start exercising again, my knees become stiff. It's been 45 days since I started exercising. The knee bends 120 degrees due to exercise but then becomes stiff again and the pain lasts the whole day.
Thank You.
Mine is 18months and I still feel tightness and my leg 🦵 gets stiff and uncomfortable 😊and my hip hurts
Does this mean I should stop taking ibuprofen? I'm 7 weeks post-op BTKR, still taking 2 tylenol and 1 ibuprofen ea 6 hrs, still have pain, but is ibuprofen doing anything?
I'm 3 years out from having both knees replaced, and I still have extreme stiffness and pain. My knees just didn't heal properly. I think my body produced an extreme amount of scar tissue that doesn't respond to PT. I bike, hike and walk every week but the stiffness and pain has never stop. If I could go back in time I would've never had my knees replaced.
😮
Can you have scope surgery to remove the excess scar tissue?
@@anng8811 As a retired O.R. RN I only seen scopes to remove shredded meniscus. The risk of post operative infection over rules the risk of possible cleaning of scar tissue. People who develop excessive scar tissue have a greater risk of regrowing more scar tissue. So I'm just going to deal with what life has handed me and try to enjoy every day.
How long do the tape stays on and do the knee supposed to be doing any drainage I had my surgery may 29th and toddy is now 6-16-2024
I had my knees replaced 18 years ago and have suffered with this pain ever since. No one has ever addressed it. I’m constantly massaging all around my knee and feel a band. I’ll be discussing this with my physical therapist so glad you have finally id identified where my knee pain is coming from.
I had a left knee replacement on May 7th hospital 3 days. Physical therapy for 20 days and my left leg is still not straight would you say this is a complication due to surgery? I'd like to be able to do what you're doing I'm going to try it hurts because I can't raise my left leg real high anymore.
I’m at day 3. OMG
Thank you for this excellent video! It will definitely help me as I will be having my TKR in two months time.
Isn't this rubber bands around my leg above my knee caused by nerve damage from the tight tourniquet they put on during surgery. No one has said a thing about this tourniquet nerve damage
Tony, your videos continue to be extremely helpful, as is your Facebook page. I am in Canada and was discharged from physical therapy in week 4 as I achieved 138 degrees flexion and 0 degrees extension. While these are great numbers and I am happy to have achieved them, my knee is very stiff and my walking gait is certainly off. I am walking around as much as possible - on average 2-4 kms a day and riding the recumbent bike about 5 kms a day now. Recovery is very tiring. I continue to do PT at home (stretches and strengthening ). The tightness is so uncomfortable. is it okay to use mild heat to relax my knee? While icing helps after a walk, I find a warm magic bag to be so soothing - thoughts?
I'm also more than two years out and that band sensation is only getting worse over time. I've had other injuries and surgeries where I've felt a similar sensation. In those cases it was scar tissue and once I was able to break it up I never had further problems. The only issue with that is that sometimes it took years to break up that scar tissue.
I've been watching your videos for about 6 mos, when I found your website... Have you seen any patients whose medial hamstring tendon is "snapping" in and out when I bend and extend my leg from a sitting position ? I'm doing more hamstring exercises and still work on my bend 2-3 xd...My surgeon gave me some sort of cortisone injection 3 wks ago and will see me again on June 10...he said in his 30 yrs as orthopedic surgeon he has maybe seen this 2-3 times and may want to go in Arthroscopically to see what's going on...I hate to think of this after 9 mos of healing after TNR....thank you
