Can people still eat from this? Or is it just for decoration? Like if I want to do this on a charcuterie board?
@@reginacernamatamoros452 These are made from plywood and meant for decoration. However, if you use the right materials and methods, it can be foodsafe. For example, using food-grade varnish, paint, or other sealants can make it safe for charcuterie boards. I also have another video where I show how to make plywood foodsafe-feel free to check it out
Can you still place food and like things people would eat or is it just for decoration can I apply this technique to a charcuterie board?
This tray was for decoration. However, if you use the right materials and methods, it can be foodsafe. Using food-grade varnish, paint, or other sealants can make it safe for charcuterie boards. I have another video where I show how to make plywood foodsafe on my channel
You can find nice instructions on WoodPrix if you like to make it
Amazing. Thank you so much. I've been struggling with this.
You’re welcome. I’m happy you can use it
Thank you for this. It was very helpful, especially showing how helpful the Boolean assistant is!
You’re welcome! The Boolean assistant is my favorite tool 😅
What’s with this honeycomb stuff all about? I’m just gonna engrave on wood, on top of wood on top of an old glass table that I don’t care so much about the well-being of. The fact that these guys couldn’t bother to include an SD card is kind of annoying since I had no luck plugging my computer directly, and so I just formatted one from a camera.
The honeycomb is mainly for cutting because it helps air circulate under your material, which reduces burn marks and improves cut quality. If you’re just engraving, it’s not as necessary, but it can still help prevent overheating. I’ve never used SD cards either; I always use USB or connect directly to my computer. If you’re having trouble with the SD card, formatting it to FAT32 might help.
Thank you for a fabulous video, have you ever heard from anyone that this would work with a 10w diode laser please 🥰🥰
You’re welcome 👌 No, I haven’t, but if you can cut 1/8”, you should be able to cut this too
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles thank you so much, I’ll get some and give it a go 🥰🥰🥰
@ Let me know how it goes
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles I certainly will, just got to find some first 😂😂🥰🥰
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles It worked... after lots of testing I finally got it to cut and score, the engraving didn't work out, but two out of three isn't bad. Thanks again !!
Lowe’s has most all kinds of hardboard
Just took a look and you’re right! They actually have a lot! Most of is pretty decorative, but I found some of the solid colors to, which seems to be the exact same as what I have 👌
looks like you pin down your sheet directly to the honeycomb. If you put scrap 3mm pieces at the corners and in the center, Then pin down to prevent movement, you will decrease the flashback on the back of the boards and will get a cleaner look on the unfinished side.
Thank you for the advice. But I don’t really care about the flashback. I usually sand it off afterwards ☺️ I use the pins to make sure my slightly warped sheets are laying nice and flat
Hello Mia! Love your content. You brought up the burning on the back side of your ornaments. This is call flash back. To prevent this, raise your wood to the height of the width of your hold down t's.just slide some of those T's around the edge of the wood. Then, hold down wood as normal. Focus, make sure air is on, then cut. This should help.
No it wasn’t the burning I meant 😉 It was just the brown MDF looking backside I was referring to. I usually sand mine off. This however was cut on my laser that had not been cleaned for a while. I usually don’t have much flashback
Thanks for sharing your journey with us. It's great knowing something about the person behind a TH-cam channel, especially when it seems harder and harder to find really good content.
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and for your kind words. I’ve honestly never seen myself as much of a content creator, but helping others and sharing my journey has become such a rewarding experience. I truly appreciate the support-it means the world to know my content resonates with you!
Many thanks for sharing the info. I have just bought the hardboard. Have a plan to cut it using a diode laser.
@@ask_usb You’re welcome. I love this material - let us know how it works for you
Thank u so much! They are lovely. 😊❤️
Thank you and you’re welcome. It’s so simple to do, but makes such a big difference
I wonder if this is the same they have at a company called Craft Closet in the US..
I have used their red, blue, green and orange color panels from them and they do wipe clean with water. They have a wide range of colors
Oh yes, that’s right! I actually spoke with Kris about it a long time ago, when I used this for earrings. I’m not sure if it’s the exact same, but I do believe it works just as well. But thank you for reminding me about this, I’ll see if I can get it tested out.
Thank you so much for confirming Wayne. Does the back look the same as mine or is it “laminated” on both sides?
I love the step-by-step tutorial. I'm now making my own snowflakes and using features I didn't know how to use before watching. Thanks so much!
@@kxsess91 You’re absolutely welcome. I have a new tutorial coming up soon on how to turn them into beautiful ornaments
This is such a helpful tutorial, and I’ve seen them all! Can you tell me if drawing assist helps your horizontal lines not appear pixilated?
Thank you so much ❤️ That actually means a lot to me, since this was one of my first tutorials 😅 I’ve never experienced any pixelation, so I’m not really sure what you mean?
Very nice. Thanks for sharing this. I'm surprised Lightburn doesn't have automate this process.
It would definitely be easier if the had a “basic shapes/clipart” function such as stars, hearts, scallops etc. - But on the other hand it’s really fast and easy to create them at get your own style of the designs
Very informative! Thank you :)
You’re welcome
Is the slot tester available for download
It’s included with all my boxes/baskets. But is basically just a square with rectangles in the same width as the different sizes of slots I include with my files.
THANK YOU!!! So very helpful to me.
You’re welcome! Glad it helped!
Very good walk through thank you
@@christychessher1967 You’re welcome ☺️
Wow! You make it all look so easy!

You’re welcome, I really try my best to keep all my videos as beginner friendly as possible
Star, starry night, these are beautiful
Thank you ❤️ I’m working on a lot more ⭐️
I like the last one very much. Thanks for sharing this.
It’s absolutely my favorite too ❤️
I like them all, but the last one is my favorite. I'm gonna try some of this. Thanks!
Mine too! I’m kind of happy I messed up the first version 😅
Hi excellent vid, but can you go a little slower with your cursor please
@@wsparry1066 I can try that the next time yes ☺️
You encouraged me to finally try glasses. Hope to see your video on wine glasses soon. The stackable boxes in the background look nice. You designed them yourself?
Yeeeah! Go for it! It’s really satisfying once you find the right settings 👌 We’re heading to Denmark for Christmas, so unless I’ll find time to test on my LP4, I’ll probably not have it done until January. Yes, all the stacking boxes are available in my Etsy shop & our website - there’s a ton of different designs, since I make a new collection every time I need storage space for all my stuff 😅
I'll have to watch this again, if I ever get lucky enough to have a LaserPecker. (What an odd name.)
Lol, yes but recognizable 😅 My husband do laugh, when I tell him I’m playing with my Pecker 😂
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles Hahaha!
Those look amazing! And the LaserPeckers are looking better and better, with each video. I like the idea of dual lasers. I have one of those cheap airbrushes that has the compressor built in. I've had it for about a year and still haven't used it. I think I'll give it a try. I have some glass trivets I've been wanting to do something with. Thank you for another great video!
Thank you 🙏 You are welcome and I totally agree, they look and feel really great & processional! I love the dual system, it makes it possible to do pretty much anything and everything
Thanks for the great tutorial! I love this design; I just got it and can't wait to make it. :)
You are very welcome ❤️ I would love to see your finished results and hear what you think 🙏
I had the same kind of thing happen to me with my first engrave, after I installed LightBurn 1.7.03. I went back to the previous version, and it's working fine. I'll try again later, when I have time to fool with it. Your monogram looks great on that card!
Ugh software issues 🙈 This was definitely a user error, but at least I found that the settings for aluminum cards, works well for powder coated steel too 😅
Is the file available for purchase?
They definitely are, links are in the description and in my bio ☺️ They’re listed on both my Etsy shop MiMoDesignLaserFiles.etsy.com and AllStarsDesign.com
I mostly use Photoshop and Lightburn - liking LightBurn more and more (not more than Photoshop), all the time.
I didn’t know you could use Photoshop? Are you using it for photo engraving?
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles I save files a PNG, and import it into LightBurn. Then I will use the Trace function and convert it to vector. I mostly use it for text. I've used Photoshop since Version 1, so I'm much more used to it.
That’s an interesting approach! Out of curiosity, is there a specific reason you prefer using Photoshop for text instead of creating it directly in LightBurn? It seems like an extra step, but maybe there’s a benefit I’m missing?
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles There is no benefit. I just prefer the user interface of Photoshop (been using it for 30 years). As I get more used to LightBurn, I'm sure I'll switch over, as it is much more efficient to do it that way. Hopefully, I'll get so busy with sales, I'll be forced to switch. That just isn't happening yet.
@@MileyonDisneyKeep creating, making and promoting and I’m sure it’ll happen! ❤️ You just got to find that golden item, that everyone wants ⭐️
Which software do you prefer to make your designs in?
I've learned something new today, so thumbs up.
I’m so happy to hear! What did you learn?
@@MiMoDesignLaserfiles They have nearly 10 windows with settings overlapping on the left of the screen and I couldn't find the settings I needed, but thanks to your video, I did, thank you!
