Self Retired
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 ส.ค. 2013
In May 2020, Life retired me from Corporate... days after Corporate released me from their service. Life then sent me on long a Spiritual Awakening to rediscover my inner Self... the source of Life itself.
As a lifelong recluse, always the Analyst, I searched to uncover the source of this phenomenon... and how I could self-correct my brokenness, witnessed as a giant pile of black obsidian shards known as my former self. A pile so big, in splinters so fine, I knew my former self was not a puzzle I could piece back together. Life had cracked open my eggshell and the air around me felt foreign.
I've been learning to survive in this new world by feeling helpless vs helpful. I've been taking in my surroundings on this new journey, finding different yet very real dragons on this side... but finding it was not only acceptable to lean inward, toward my inner Self that speaks to me, but encouraged.
Life guides me every day in creating a New Me.

EARLY SUMMER FAWNS AFTER THE RAIN (Michigan)
I stopped to watch these fawns on my way to grab some cuttings, and listened to the birds calling, after the rain on this early summer Michigan morning. The deer here are quite accustomed to humans and live in harmony with us.

@thierrymunseugandachildren802 I had twin fawns in my back yard yesterday and I wondered if it were the same ones. This video isn't far from my house... just a neighborhood over. So sweet and trusting. ❤️ Thank you. How's the music business going? :)
@@selfretired3025 how are you? Hope you're doing well
@thierrymunseugandachildren802 I'm well. Peaceful. Thabk you. I'll post more when I have a direction 👊❤️
Can't believe people are waiting for next year so they can hunt them. Never will understand how people do that. 🦌✝️🕊️
@edward2448 With all respect, venison is much healthier for human consumption than most other protein sources we purchase. Humans are meat eaters. Respecting all that gives us life, is part of that process... and the amount of respect you show here is admirable. 👊❤️ The herd here is protected from hunting... and I think they know that. ✨️
@@selfretired3025 Good Day, I understand that and I have had venison but I could never pull the trigger. I would get more pleasure feeding them rather than eating them. I'm well aware of the food chain. I'm a retired Chef and I've broken down many carcasses. I'm no vegetarian. A pleasure chatting with you. ✝️
@edward2448 understood... and that choice to not pull the trigger is the option we choose as our "price". I assure you it's not easy for hunters either. As with your career, it's a separation, a process and understanding. The pleasure in hunting is the survival part - knowing you will eat - and a skill many acquire. I too, would prefer to feed them and greatly appreciate when venison is shared with me because I know what that person went through to provide it. I bet you have amazing recipes for all kinds of things. Cooking is something I enjoy as well... and finding beautiful things in nature.
@@selfretired3025 Agreed, I just don't have any desire to participate in the hunt. I know many hunters here in Lebanon Pennsylvania. I'll never understand it completely. Don't get me wrong, if I was hungry I would easily do it. The gutting is a tough thing to do. My friends butcher shop used to process over 150 deers every season. Others can do the hunting and I will do the cooking. I prefer to go fishing. Actually I like just hanging out in the countryside. After growing up in NYC the peace and quiet of Amish Land is a pleasure. Have a Blessed and Beautiful Evening.✝️✌️💞🙏🕊️🫒🐑🧑🍳

I heard you say how important it is to stay consistent temperature and can’t drop below 99 but hens get off eggs one or two times a day eat drink use bathroom and scratch around. Then still manage to hatch high rates I don’t think you have to over worry on everything
You are correct and I considered this as well. My obsessiveness of the task prevailed. 👊😆

That was a great effort
Still working great "as is", 3 years later! :) Thanks! Someone's gotta do it. It's easy enough.
@@selfretired3025 my sump pump stopped working and im using a shop vac to remove water...in the process of buy a new one. which brand is more reliable and durable? im not a handy man tks
Did it fade in the wash too or was that lighting?
It's a heathered blue. Not faded. Washing has not done anything to the color... just shrunk it a bit (initially). Note that when I made this video, materials differed by COLOR, not Style - as you'd normally find. So... find the Material you prefer, and then find the colors available in that material, per each style you're interested in. If that's changed since then, I have no idea. Have fun!! :)
@@selfretired3025 thank you for the reply so fast. Has the logo and print cracked or faded since the video?
No. It's like a paint that has soaked into and become part of the material. It's not an iron on sticker, if that makes sense.
@@selfretired3025 that makes perfect sense. You and your video were so much help. Thank you.

I appreciate that. I do not know my direction yet. It changes frequently. Nor do I have an income and are unable to pat anyone if I did have direction. My current thought process is around providing more of the things I enjoy watching vs "what everyone else is doing". Your videos are amazing! If you like farming or harvesting videos, I look forward to having you visit my channel to have relaxing moments together!
Maybe use a medical thermometer to see which one is most accurate.
That's an interesting consideration. Are there any that display the temperature constantly without opening the incubator?
@@selfretired3025 I have a digital thermometer that could be put inside the incubator. You just need to calibrate the ones you have and use the most accurate one. Would have been better to get the temperature sorted before you put the eggs in.
@@douglascolman4501 the temperature changes once the eggs are in and while they grow. It's not an exact science in nature and you could certainly do as you suggested, especially if you're not monitoring the humidity. How's your hatch rate going? I'm sure people would enjoy seeing a video of the success of the thermometer you suggested! The incubator itself is quite reasonable... and I love the clear cover. :)

Looks like you didn't glue the pvc tube, and you didn't install a check valve. Should really watch some videos before working on it. Also I will replace all the rubber hose and clamps etc. Also get couple nut drivers to unscrew the clamps.
I find it interesting to hear you think I did not read the instructions. The last person tried claiming I didn't read the instructions also which was just as interesting. Unless you have experience installing this exact model according to the manufacturers instructions... I'd be very careful how you suggest others do it. Not all pumps and situations are the same. You could void someone's warranty or create an unnecessary situation for them.
Missing a check valve so it will run too long. Maybe that's why the old pump finally died. Needs a 1/8 weep hold drilled in pipe to prevent an air lock as is per instructions. Make sure you drill the hole facing down to avoid water splashing. No pvc glue? Maybe a dry fit to just get it working or for testing. On a new pump, do not assume the same length pipes. Each pump has different hights and the soil, gravel, or other base may have settled over the years.
The old pump died because it's expected lifetime had expired. I've had this one installed "as shown" for over 3 years with no issues. Additionally, I wonder if you read the instructions for this model yourself.
Thanks this just helped me get the confidence to set my first video public again it was private for a couple of months cuz I was embarrassed of how I look but this just made me put it public again tysm

Saya ingin tahu lebih banyak bagaimana cara kerja incubator ini..😁 Salam dari Indonesia
Buy one :)
How does the incubator work? without putting water but humidity can be achieved?
It works by plugging it in. It has an option to add water, if that's the desired method of hatching one prefers. Without using the water setup provided, it also allows for dry hatching, if that's the desired method of hatching one prefers. I suggest doing more homework but you can also get an incubator, put the proper kind of eggs in it, and learn along the way.
Many people sell hatching eggs like in your video.. (without adding water) to keep the humidity stable... but I want to know how to make it moist without water? because if there is not enough humidity and it is too hot then the eggs will cook (the shell is hard, the chick will have difficulty breaking the shell and will die) and vice versa, if it is too damp, the egg in the shell will become wet (the chick will die before it hatches)
You are putting too many "ifs" and fear into it. I suggest researching your fears away... then you will be more comfortable. :)
That's how my Husky and i sleep😆 i love my baby boy
how accurate is this incubator. And how did hatching go.
I would say the incubator is like most any other incubator. It does the job. If you've never incubated eggs before, this is a very good experience. There's a lot to learn about candling, why eggs fail, etc. Those things cannot be blamed on any incubator. As far as accuracy... following the instructions as far as using the provided foam cover is a nice added benefit. Temperature fluctuations in the house, like opening a door, effects the incubator. In lieu of putting it in a dark corner or large box, I found a video that suggested the referenced heating pad to help with fluctuations. I think it helped a lot even though it really didn't feel like it was on... just that tiny bit helped so the hatching eggs didn't experience big temp fluctuations... which they can probably handle but I tend to go overboard. You do you. As far as adding water or not, I had 3 hatch out early, before water was going to be needed. Apparently slightly higher temps vs lower can do that. Once I added a few drops of water, the hatching stopped... and I think its because the water port is also the only air intake. Someone else I know who hatches eggs used this as a dry hatch only (no water) and had much better results. She also has her own hens vs my shipped eggs... which also effects hatch rate. I enjoyed it and would do it again... even if it's to hatch them out for someone else. :)
@@selfretired3025 I was given a single egg this past September I didn't have a incubator I winged it and was not expecting anything I put mine egg in a gallon pickle jar and a small bowl of water sat it in a foam carton on my desk and shined a 60 watt incident bulb on it august 10th on day 23 my little egg hatched I turned the egg quite a bit.
@MJ-wz6jo that's a fantastic idea!! :)
My go to is an Orpington hen .
Big, sweet, broody mama's is the perfect solution!! 🙌 One has to start somewhere, and I was in the process of creating a coop & run. Orpingtons are awesome. 👊❤
Great video log. I need to make one of these types of videos someday... Keep up the great works!
Thanks. I had to watch it again. LOL It was a fun little over nighter! :)
I i just bought one does it self rotate and is it worth it
Yes it rotates... and I feel it's worth it. Do your research to understand the temperature needed, what to look for when candling throughout the incubation period to make sure to get rid of damaged, failed, and infertile eggs, decide if you want to use hydration or not - both have their +/-, so just decide and accept you've done everything you can... and be grateful for the ones that hatch that are put in your care ❤
I certainly would not use a heating pad under and incubator. If the incubator doesn't hold the heat, you need a better one.
I'm curious... What are your fears about a heating pad under an incubator? What incubator do you recommend?
@selfretired3025 #1 a heating pad is not designed for 24 hr/21 days constant use. I'd be scared of fires, myself. I recommend a Brinsea all the way. I've had cheaper ones that have given me a 75% hatch rate which is not bad. But I hate seeing formed chicks not hatch put because they get shrink wrapped or drown. The cheaper one I put a big bath towel, folded, around and on top to help with the heat control. I'm inexperienced but I do follow a great family who homesteads and I've learned a lot from them. White House On The Hill.
@@rezotydnic ahhh... I'm familiar with the struggles of who you mention... and I'm familiar with the successes of others as well. When I found this solution by another YTr, for inexpensive incubators, I tried it and was surprised to find how much it helped on such a low setting. There are many heating pads designed to be left on, such as with heating pads for iguanas. We often get caught up in past fears to understand the reality of the present is much different and requires new solutions. I found the heating pad solution, and this incubator with the clear cover, worked well and I was quite pleased with my "100% dry" hatch rate, monitoring only temps. That's not 100% hatch, as once I started adding a few drops of water, the hatch rate significantly dropped. That's just my experience. For maintaining temps, its a simple & inexpensive solution.
@selfretired3025 good info. And yes there are heating pads for lizards that are 24/7. Still don't think I'd do it though. But glad you had success with it.
You are suppose to keep the Styrofoam from the packing and use that to insulate. Big fire risk

This is directed more at the Spiritual community who understand the layers of complexity you mention here. The goal for us, is to help people look inside themselves to discover why they may be doing what they are doing... so they can start pursing their own truth, such as the love that is waiting for them inside themselves they cannot seem to find. It's more helpful to steer people in the right direction... and this is what I did, as an example. @grumpus_hominidae In general... we could say Respect is a form of Love we feel... as energy received from others. Love is an emotion and emotions come from within. If the emotion is not being felt by others, it's an energy that is not being produced within. Something is blocking the Self Love... the love of our inner Self... the love of the Self that guides us all. For example, feelings of Hardship can lead one to feel abandoned by the source of light... when really we've abandoned the light by not seeing the gratitude in the situation. Shifting our perspective of the situation from one of pain to one of gratitude will help restore/re-energize the light within... so it can be shared with others. Going for a long walk helps reconnect within as well... so try taking her for a walk and just listen. Hope that makes sense.
@grumpus_hominidae... How was the walk? Was it helpful?
?
Be a blessing not a burden❤

Someone pointed out, when we retire... we lose our income, identity, structure, and purpose. And nobody in the working world talks about it because it's not their world. Until one day, it is. Having PTSD & Anxiety on top of it... certainly doesn't help, but at least we have time to focus on maintaining our sanity. We discover God, Grace and Faith along the way, and that becomes our structure and guide. Far different than what we were accustomed to. What did you move there to do?
