I also have to work a ton on my endurance. I have not been doing too many 60 second runs because I get too tense. Broke 800 for the first time. New goal: 900 bpm (singles). More to come. Update: 834

    FDJ will go out for stage hunting in the third week. TotalEnergies is basically the only team that will go on these futile breakaways in week 1 just for media exposure. Of course Abrahamsen is a good bet to be in a break today, but apart from him and TE I don't see anyone else in the break in next two days. Much better stages for breaks are coming

    It will also be interesting to see what they count as a breakaway in mountain stages once the GC guys stay alone in the lead. For example tomorrow Pogačar can easily have 30+ points for breakaway alone. So it can even out a bit. Also rarely do we see a rider in more than 5 breaks per race, let alone 5 leading breaks. I like the new rule

    Agreed 100%. Not sure how such balancing could slip through into release as some simpe math will instantly reveal the absurdness. Just take tomorrow's stage. A rider in front from km 0 to say 15km to go will gain more pts than the winner. I like the idea in general but 1pt per 5km would have been sufficient. It also takes away from the reward of genuinely successful picks like Vauquelin or Van den Broeck as it's not too much of a difference to picking, say, Jegat... Let's hope they change it next year. At least the racing itself has been great, cheers :)

Carapaz was good today, and Abrahamsen will be on the breakaway for the montain points. What do you think? And for the next stages we will have Phillipsen, Van Aert and Pedersen for the green jersey. And who knows if Abrahamsen doesnt fight a bit more for the green jersey too, since he´s the leader in that category. What do you think? Keep the good work buddy. Love from Portugal

    The breakaway points are just too OP. The abrahamsen guy has more points just on breakaways than Pogacar has overall. 99% of races has breakaways and most them survive till at least 20/30km of the end. It’s a guess game based on how much the peloton actually lets those guys survive throughout the race. Now imagine people that actually have inside info on who will go for breakaways on a specific stage. They’re light years ahead of us.

    These are excellent videos, watched them all from the first one ahead of the tour and looking forward to more - subscribed. Great strategic understanding/analysis! I was very surprised when they changed the rules this year: 1 pt for 1km in break is just insane imo. I got really lucky with my picks, currently at 26th overall in the game with the following team: Pog - obv (will probably swap him out for jacobsen for stages 5-13 for stage leader pts then back in) Remco - yellow + young rider pts, will be up there after stage 4, will get itt stage leader points. is swappable for lots of great gc guys in case he slips around stages 14-15 WvA - obv, gambled on him as my leader for stage 1, it paid off De Lie - my risky pick to save me on stage 3. it could go south but I want to come 1st not a solid 5000th :D. he looked really strong at nationals Pidcock - thought he might have a great start on stages 1+2. might survive stage 4 decently. yields young rider points. likely to be will swapped for pedersen before stage 5 Van den Broeck - my lucky pick. I just looked at procyclingstats and thought him to be massively underrated for 7 given that he can climb and is a young guy as well. also it was clear dsm would attack every non pancake flat stage in breaks Abrahamsen - like you also stated in your videos, a great aggressive rider, clearly undercosted at 7. did not expect it to go THIS well Gachinard - Lanterne rouge :D. If they're right, he might be quite valuable along the way. he can also get the odd young rider point accidently

    • @JoeFoxJr
      @JoeFoxJr 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is the million dollar question. It's the first year with breakaway points, and I am very unsure of how much it should sway my picks. I expect there to be a lot of variance, as some people will get lucky and pick good CHEAP riders who end up in the breakaways every day, but I don't think you should pick up EXPENSIVE riders specifically because of breakaway points. I don't know though, it's super interesting! Feel free to join the discussion over on my discord server, we've been talking about this exact topic over there. Also, I think the mountain breakaway specialists like Ciccone, Powless, Lenny Martinez, some of the Bahrain guys, etc. etc. will be super valuable in weeks 2/3 but not so much in week 1. Week 1 will have more all-around guys in the breaks.

    Watched a couple of your vids, thanks, very helpful. I keep forgetting to do the quiz thing every year, so starting with the bare minimum. But this year is not so bad given there is almost a definitive two halves to this race where its possible to only need 2/3 changes before stage 14 if you set up right, and willing to make sacrifices by not having the optimum team for all previous stages. My start team is not too dissimilar, with only a couple of question marks in my mind. I currently have POG, WVA, MADS, PIDCOCK, D. VAN POPPEL, BETTIOL, VERONA, ABRAHAMSEN. with 5 stars left. Pidcock to Philipsen stage 3 or 5 being the first move. Whether to start with D, Van Poppel or M. Van Den Berg is my only current dilemma. Given the new rules regarding breakaway points this game becomes a whole lot more random, where you will be gambling on having your double points on breakaway riders on a number of stages. Good luck.

      Yes, I agree with a lot of this. Come join the discussion over on my discord server if you want (discord.gg/hMc9AazT4a, invite code: hMc9AazT4a), we're hashing out a lot of these decisions together over there. I think that I like MVDB over Van Poppel, but I like both, it's close. MVDB won't have to work for a leader at all, where as DVP will be called upon to help Roglic at times. Leaving 5 stars to trade an 18 cost rider for Philipsen ahead of stage 3 or 5 is wise, and something we've been talking about on Discord this morning, lol!

      Oh! And also, please please go get those bonus credits! Those extra 100 credits (two trades) are CRITICAL! Even if you miss the quizzes (or score too low), you can instead earn those bonus credits by recruiting a few friends. If you're really desperate, make 5 burner email addresses, and recruit yourself 5 times (you'll need to actually create 5 extra accounts on the fantasy website, but it only takes a couple minutes.

    • @jensino
      @jensino 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is exactly what I'm going for. I start with Pogacar, Pidcock, Gee, Williams, Powless, Bettiol, Zimmermann and Arndt. With five stars left I can swap in Philipsen for Pidcock or, if Pidock gets that yellow jersey in Rimini, exchange Williams for van Gils and Gee for Philipsen.

    • @JoeFoxJr
      @JoeFoxJr 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think so, but that’s because I value saving myself a trade. If all goes to plan, Philipsen will be a really good pick from stage 3 to stage 21, so by not starting with him on my roster I’d only be gaining the opportunity to guess on another rider at the start, and I don’t have anyone else I’m super confident in. In short: I like to spend my trades on proven riders, and no one has proven themselves yet, so I’m saving myself a trade by picking him up at the start. This is a conservative, though perhaps suboptimal, strategy.

      I discussed them all in my rider evaluation video. In short: I think Cav will win a stage but is not a good fantasy pick yet, too uncertain and he won’t be going for green (likely). Coquard is a good pickup if you want a cheaper sprinter, he was the second best points/cost sprinter last year because he’s consistent, even if he doesn’t win much. MVDP is one of the guys who MIGHT win stage 1… but he’s too much of a gamble. He is historically a bad fantasy league pick as he is priced so high but often scores almost no points. Last year he was ranked 118th on points per cost… plus this year he will be preparing for the Olympics not going all out for the tour.
