Damn bro, so unfortunate, I'm sure you got this, hope all goes well
what a scummy company bro, leaving you in such a difficult situation for you to be in. best of luck - i'm sure you've got this.
“My visa is about to run out” So you already knew your status here was temporary? I don’t see why this was such a surprise to you.
Gotta love MERICA! 💩🤮 🇺🇸
I also was laid off. You are not alone.
Good luck on it bruv.
What's a good way to apply for manufacturing jobs, particularly locally? Should you just visit their location? Or apply through their site?
Out of curiosity, what type of engineering did you do?
So unfair, they must face judgment. It’s unacceptable
Anybody told you that you look like a duck?
Sardines.
you got this man, the next job is always better. You got this.
Good luck gaining your next chapter Donald. It either working for new corp or for yourself. Looking forward to your next update.
The fact that you were actually able to land a job in the US is impressive in this day and age. Not happening anymore.
I've heard you can negotiate with your employer to still be "employed" but be paid 0 dollars to still qualify for the visa in the time you're searching for a new job
daddy needed that bonus so people had to go
Sending you support, and good wishes
What you said in the end is basically the crux of it all. There is no such thing as job safety. I program for a living and thank God, my wife and I are in a good financial situation. We made a ton of financial mistakes, but were lucky enough that the amount of money we made (we both make six figures) overcame that. If I had to do it over again, just as you said, I'd live way below my means. I really, REALLY wish I knew about the whole FIRE movement 25 years ago. While we have enough to retire, most of our money is tied up in funds that we can't touch until at least 59 1/2, so we have to keep working. Good for us, because we'll have even more in retirement. But imagine you get laid off, you're 39 and you have $1.5 million saved up. Well you always have the option of just not working at all, don't you? To me, that's worth more than any fancy iPhone, car, or anything else. I'm assuming you made good money as an engineer. One thing to consider is, if you saved up at least $300K, you always have the option of staying in a place like Costa Rica or Panama until you find a job. 4% of $300K is $12K, or $1K per month. You can live like a king on that amount of money in many parts of the world. Good luck.
You don't need a visa to stay in the States you just can't work. So no need to rush on coming back to Canada.
Canada is very much a more socialist country, so yes, you’ll get more holidays there. Also, California is not America, each state is like a different country with very different culture, rules and laws. You’ll find 50 different experiences in 50 different states. As a Canadian you’ll always be an outsider there unless you’ve been there for many many years, but you’ll always be an outsider as someone who wasn’t born there. We moved to the US, 5 years ago from Canada and absolutely love it, I will never go back to Canada. I wish Canadians were as proud as southern Americans, they absolutely love their country. Something that’s been decimated in Canada under the Trudeau government, what does it mean to be a Canadian any longer? It’s turning into a lost nation, along with the UK.
That's insane. Just wanna say I'm sorry this happened to you. Hope there's an opportunity for you ASAP. Good luck brother.
Using ai how to do
Good luck! Nothing can really prepare you for it, but keep fighting the good fight
Damn thats cruel man... I recently subscribed to you cause I was interested in moving from Canada to the US, and I actually found out about the TN visa from your video. I wish you all the luck to find your next job, will be following you 🙏

real man anything you do is never safe, this year i lost 2 million dollar investment and damn i pretty much lost everything when you think damn life is going great that doesn't mean it will be great the next day. things can always get worst love that you are showing the raw part of your private life GL on your next chapter
Holy crap, $2M that's awful! Hope you're all good

Disneyland is soooo expensive she outta her d mind i swear. If ur let go from a company you are applying to every company posting for weeks and eating nothing but top ramen and wearing nothing but sweats until interview day. She crzy!!!!!!
I had worked in a food distribution company as one of its in house sale rep, i got so bog down with so many task, trying to juggle them altogether in one day, there is absolutely no time to do this kind of bs when your day is so filled with work, only lazy people like this one who just like to flex all day and like you said she doesnt serve any purpose at all, what a total klutz not knowing what hit her
"a bad game of Russian Roulette"... my girl you literately filmed yourself arriving work late, snacking all the time...spending most of your day walking around the office doing nothing....
why u dont use in popMax, for i, number in enumerate(self.stack)?
I know it's late to comment on this, but dude, how many minutes does the video clip run? you judge her work with just couple of seconds if her roaming in the office when you don't know what happened to her working the whole day in between those clip. lamest vlog ever. wtf! 🤣
I don’t feel any sympathy. If your on here recording your day at work your probably not working 😂
The idea of just adding features, that's a good idea
So you cant
your face is fking funny ,sorry
Get help
All of you never worked a real day in your lives.
Im less concerned about her going to Disneyland, i mean life goes on after layoff. But the most unnatural thing is filming yourself cry like you are anne Hathaway in les miserable. Obviously companies dont just lay off thousands of employees wirhout consulting with the board and professionals, she is not informed simply because its above her pay grade. Her comments on the layoff basically confirmed google had made a right decision.
She could probably split an atom in her kitchen but has no self awareness and has difficulty functioning in the real world
Google trimmed Nicole as excess fat! She's emotionally damaged before the layoff.
My ex boss who works in this field for over 30 years told me that the job market is worse than ever
Just remember, it's not you! There are many factors that come into play in this current job market. High interest rates, outsourcing from India, technological advances with AI etc. It's definitely a scary time to be in with so much uncertainty. There may or may not be a major shift in tech within the coming years. Those people who say AI only makes software engineers more efficient (which may be true), don't mention that fact that if AI increases efficiency, then the need of labor goes down (e.g, not needing as many devs). Only you know how to best take care of yourself, and don't let sunk cost fallacy trap you in the state of continuously trying to break into the industry. There is no doubt that new devs caught the end of the tail in this race. Not trying to deter new devs from trying to get in, but sunk cost fallacy is a real thing, especially if you just finished 4 years of CS. There's literally over thousands of applicants for $20/hr full stack roles in LA. Dev work doesn't seem worth it anymore especially if you can flip burgers mindlessly for $26/hr at In-in-out.
Can you give tips regarding how to do DSA revision. I am not remembering previously learned algorithms. So should I solve all the leetcode questions again during revision?
Nicole should have productively spent time in the meditation room plucking those eyebrows.
I would have to agree that web development can be a oversaturated field at times. I'm not in the field at the moment, but I have find it difficult to gain opportunities for internships into the field while in college or any actual work in the field. I definitely been considering mobile development as a career move. Do to mobile development being a flexible position. Which you work under someone while you actually build an app of your own on the side and publishing it in any mobile app store. Meaning potential extra profit if done right of course. Mobile development is also more centered around platform specific operating systems rather having a load of tools and frameworks you get from web development to build a web application from the ground up. However, the learning curve is steeper in mobile than it is web so it is also something I would take into consideration. The amount time you spend learning from projects can help, but it will take a lot of time to master the craft of mobile development in my opinion. Which can vary on how many hours you put into studying and building projects each day to mold yourself to become a mobile developer takes alot commitment and dedication.
Large layoffs always start with dead weight, underperformers, discipline problems, and revenue contribution. Then that list is analyzed by age, job title, and demographic. Additional people are added to "balance" any of those catagories that might be top heavy.
Layoffs aways trigger a spike in stock price.
:) at least you learned it was a waste- some people don't
