These Metroid games are nuts. I played this game to death like 4 times 100% every time. I knew the route like the back of my hand. Dropped the game for 2 years and came back not having a clue which direction to go.

What happens if you die on Dread Mode? Do you start all the way back to the beginning? Also I’d like to point out that I think it’s a crime to skip cutscenes.
Dread Mode just makes it so you will die instantly from *most* damage. I originally wanted to let all the cutscenes play but having to rewatch them over multiple attempts would've been a drag. That said, iirc I got this run after just a few attempts while recording. So in hindsight I should've just let them play for the sake of a better video.

It took me like 15 hours to beat this game on normal mode. I am beyond impressed that you grinded this game out to the point where you could just do this. Congrats on the impeccable skills mate.

I've done hundreds of no death runs on hard and I never save anymore, just play right through in roughly two hours, but if there's one thing I haven't done in this game, it's a no-hit run. My best Dread mode run Saw two deaths, the yellow emmi because he was in place he shouldn't have been when I entered the room and it threw me off my routine, then the fire escape before varia suit. There's on spot in the fire room before the varia suit that is really annoying for that and when you're not focusing, you always clip it and take at least a couple energy of damage from it, but I've never really practiced, just played though about a hundred times. lol Nice job man, that was awesome! I should actually commit to a deathless Dread Mode run.

GG, I dont know if i just got too old but I was struggling with this game so hard. Ive beat so many Metroid games in the series but for whatever reason, I am stuck on Kraid FFS. I was so excited for this game too 😞

Aside from the fact that you die in one hit (and that you can't save), is there anything else about this mode that makes it significantly harder than normal difficulty? It looks like all the enemies move at the same speed and in the same patterns, and take about the same amount of damage to kill.
Dread Mode just makes it so you will die instantly from *most* damage. You can save if you want to tho.
Idk why but it's the little things like when you spam "A" while you wait for the elevators/teleporters or when you just spin Samus around in place while you wait for things that I find so enjoyable about this play through. Awesome video and what a great run. Thanks for sharing this!

I feel like I missed something at 2:10:29, probably due to the cutscene skip. You encountered an EMMI, but then fought a Thoha soldier X, then it was an EMMI again? I don't remember this on my casual playthrough.
This is the Power Bomb EMMI, it cannot be fought. It's automatically defeated in a cutscene, it's replaced by a Thoha soldier parasite for the fight. you can see EMMI's wreckage behind it when he skips the cutscene.
Your skill damn near seems like TAS in some parts, bravo.

I died like 350 times when I did dread mode ;-; Really felt like the game was designed for it though Edit: Insane!! 100% items in 3 hours, no saves, even knowing you beat it I was in suspense the whole time. Your movement as Samus is really awesome to watch

I completed Dread Mode and took a bit of damage somehow. I think it's because when I was destroying the Central Unit, one of the rings hit me after the Central Unit was taken out. There was knockback, but I didn't die.
That's interesting. I think touching lava without Gravity Suit and using the Phantom Cloak for too long can deplete your health without killing you in Dread Mode.
@@polistrix It was weird. After completing Dread Mode, the results screen showed that I had taken damage, which shouldn't be possible. The fire kills, so I believe the lava is instant death, too. I don't know what happens if you go in heated or cold rooms. 🤔
@@uffevonlauterbach heated and cold rooms will still deplete your HP, and I do believe the lava falls under that same category as well I could be wrong abt the lava part, but passive damage is still a thing in dread mode!
