I have purchased two sets with a promotion Winspace had. Asked to exchange to a disc version from a rim brake model, same price and I would paying shipping to return and ship identical exchange and they said no. Never again. Horrible customer service.

If you have sealant in the wheels, it will slow them down dramatically. Spin a wheel with sealant, and without. I think your Winspace wheels were fine.

I have a 4iiii XT left-crank power meter and I do not know if it will fit on this frame. Can you check to see if a AAA battery can slide freely between the left crank arm and the chainstay? In a wind tunnel, I have seen riders struggle to keep their position which is a controlled environment let alone on the road where there are many variables. I cannot see how any conclusion can be drawn by someone doing such an unscientific test. I am sure if some other colleague of yours does the same test under the same circumstances would produce a different result.

Simple science, wheels with good bearings and greater mass will always be faster down hill, flats and gradients not so much. Winspace has listened and made changes to the design, the bladed spoke no longer turns. Thanks to Winspace acquiring market share, this makes the big brand think twice about prices and gimmick. We definitely have to issue criticisms in order to get better products, thanks for that, but at the same time Winspace 2023 wheels are superior to a lot of wheels that have been on the market for awhile with eye watering prices.

After watching your video I went ahead & got myself Extralight BTLOS wheelset with DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs. At 27mm inner width the wheelset weighs less than 1300g taped with valve stems. I ride hard on my Giant XTC Advanced running 120mm SID Ultimate fork & 150mm dropper. Total weigh of the bike including pedals comes out 19.9lbs. The bike really flies!!! Been riding hard for 3 months never had to true them. thx for the video :)

What about then changing those ceramic bearings with good conventional ones? Also, have you checked the winspace 2023 ones?

To be brief, I had totally different experience. Bought a Salsa Warroad on ebay. It was a dog, had Roval 30mm aluminum rims with Swiss DT 350 hubs. Replaced the bearings, mechanic said everything inside the hub looked good, helped a little. Ordered the Hypers on impulse, came 6 days later, 50mm with ceramic bearings, no paint, like yours. They opened this bike up, 2mph faster, handle terrific, I fly downhills where before I would reach a plateau. At 210lbs, crosswinds don't affect me, a little stiff, but tubeless, I just lowered the psi from 80 to 70lbs. I have 28c wide tires, what width did you go with? That and the brand (I went with Pirelli Race Zero tires) can make a difference. Like you, I pretty much ride by myself to work and back. Freewheel's a little loud, not as loud as yours, but on the trail, people hear it and move.

I've had the Hyper 50's for around 3 years - they're fast, stiff, haven't had any mechanical issues with them other than super windy days.......for which I bought a pair of Lun 30's, and they handle the wind like a champ. I had a pair of Enve 3.4's about 5-6 years ago, and they were absolute garbage - they had the lateral stiffness of a wet noodle and were horrendous in the wind.

Fair review. I just bought some Zipps today as I have had nothing but good service from their customer support on one set that were bad - party due to my rough handling. Hyper only give 2 years warranty- Zipp give lifetime which sort of says it all imo. Currently testing Hyper R33 and they are fast and very very stiff…maybe too stiff for the average rider. Ride like a Ferrari ?

tires make a massive difference rolling resistance is a real thing and can tell you the when i changed the shit tires of my single gear (kenda) and swapped a set of conti gp5000's on the bike got much faster

I Wonder i would buy them but they are now 1300 eur (usd) +shipement 100 or 50 usd then 1400 usd and you can find zipp firecrest for 1450 eur (usd) or campagnolo for 1750 eur .is it a good deal ? could be the seals or too much preload, the end caps that snap on could be pressing on the seals/bearings. i like the end caps that screw on cuz you can keep them looser and the quick release wont effect preload. would be interesting if you undid the quick release.

Let me ask you what tyres and inner tubes you used for these tests? If they're not the same your tests aren't comparable. On the same aluminium wheelset I switched from Continental Grand Prix and butyl tubes to Vittoria Rubino Pro Speed with Vittoria latex tubes. I was seeing similar differences while testing them.

I noticed there’s no special brake surface on the wheels themselves, is that’s correct? I just got mine in the mail and I’m afraid there’s no brake surface for my rim brake.
