I once had a cherry tree in my backyard. I experienced exactly the same problem. One year, I put a net covering the tree once the tree fruited with cherry (not ripe yet for picking. I remember, I heard bird chipping noise longer than expected. I went to check and found a few birds were entangled on the net. I then climbed up wit a ladder and carefully remove them from the net and let then go. I had since removed the net as I hate to see the birds entangled and suffer. When the tree grew bigger. I finally had some share of cherries to pick as the birds didn’t finish then😂
