How to Resole Birkenstock Sandals at Home
In this video I explain how I resoled my Birkenstock sandals at home.
Depending on how worn out your sandals are, a cobbler will typically offer one of three resoling options:
1. Heel taps, where just the heel is replaced.
2. A full outsole replacement.
3. A brand new cork footbed, which includes a new EVA outsole.
I came up with a fourth option. As you’ll see, my method turned out to be quite simple to do. It was also a fun project and far more cost-effective than what a cobbler needs to change you.

Silver Lake Peak, Utah
มุมมอง 402 หลายเดือนก่อน
On August 15, 2024, I climbed to the seldomly visited unofficially named "Silver Lake Peak" in the Unitas Wilderness. I had perfect weather and was pleasantly shocked with the wonderful views. Despite having an elevation of 11,036 feet, this peak is typically omitted from the Wasatch Range list of 11-thousand-foot peaks due to having only 100 feet of prominence. Its low prominence shouldn't be ...

I bought a Craftsman radial arm saw, like yours, in 1973 from Sears. I used it to finish my unfinished basement as an extremely novice, and created a beautiful English pub. I ripped barn board for various areas, plywood cabinets for behind the bar. I crosscut 2”X4” framing, trim work, and dadoed lots of pieces of wood. In retrospect I feel very fortunate, having watched your video, that I still have all my fingers and hands. It was a long time ago and I hope I read and understood the operating instructions, although I don’t remember doing so. I disposed of my radial arm saw in the late 1980’s, and so I no longer have to worry about hurting myself with it. I wish TH-cam and your video had been available in 1973 so I would have fully understood the risks of operating them.

I have a 10" Sears RAS. The motor will not tilt. The lever to release the motor will turn but will not go up or down. I disassembled the handle and the lever to lock the motor in place. There is a pin sticking down that indexes the motor angle. The pin is frozen and will not move. I believe there is a spring above the pin put since the pin is stuck it does not move. The pin has a slot in it that a flat screw driver blade will fit in but it can't be threaded or the pin would not move. I have tapped on the pin but it does not move at all. Any Ideas on house to free up the pin? I have used WD 40 but that isn't working. I hope I made myself clear in describing my problem.

If the pin is rusted in place I'd use vinegar to free it. Spray it two or three times a day for several days. Also put a paper towel over it to keep the vinegar on the pin. Resoak the paper towel with vinegar prior to drying. I hope this will help.

In Conclusion.... ANY power tool can cause damage. Table saws can easily break bones and take off fingers. RESPECT the tool always, never think "I've been doing this for xx years. I'm ok" That's when you get lulled into the "I know more" and it's then that the rools says you don't. This tool is no different. I have one, never used "yet" but plan on using. Walter, this is a well done video on the RAS...... I am a bit of an RAS fanatic, at the moment, I own 5, but two are under the weather and need help......all are DeWalt, from 1953 up to 1968 or so.... 16 inch to 9 inch....with 3 10 inch in-between..... I have owned 3 other RAS, a Montgomery Wards, a Craftsman and a 1960 DeWalt 925....which was the a beauty, but had motor issues..... I use mine for many jobs, cutting stainless steel, aluminum, wood, plastic, phenolic..... I also do a lot of grinding of machine tools to sharpen , and modify. using grinding wheels, diamond wheels, and sanding discs.....decorative metal finishes with woven abrasive [Scotchbrite Wheels] and truing steel and stainless steel miter cuts on angle, flat bar and square tubing after cutting on one of the new fangled high speed cold saws for metal that do a terrible job of smoothness...... One thing I found out, was by using a 7 1/2" blade from a 'Skilsaw' I can get fantastic cuts as far as smoothness, lack of stress on saw due to the thinner blade and much lower cost...... Best Wishes from an old Geezer in Florida who has been using the RAS since 1974.... Cheers, Paul

Thanks Again. I watched your "Complete Guide Operating a Radial Arm Saw" (which seems largely a compilation of your 9 Part Series - which I also watched - as a great way to re-emphasize safety). The Saw I found on the curb last week (see my comment below your 'Complete Guide' video) is a Sears Craftsman Model # 113.198110, Serial 6239, Date Code M0266. I believe this makes it a 1966 model - and looks almost identical to yours (maybe even less-used than yours). My model's Blade Guard tightens enough so that I cannot move it with my hands. It seems I could tighten it even further so that I would need a wrench to untighten it - even though the handle on my model is larger than the thumb nut your model has. (I could send you a photo of any part(s) of my model - if you suggest a method or want to receive photos). Great tip on using a pusher board that's the same thickness as the work piece!

I Just picked up a 10" Craftsman Radial Saw last week, put out by the curb by a neighbor for heavy-trash pick-up. Thank You for the video! So far, I have only tested it to see that the blade spins. Purrs like a kitten, but per your video - I'll now think of it as a Lion's Roar! It was left along with a box of 8 to 10 blades (plus some that are 7.25"?), and some sort of "router blade". Mine has the large, thicker Front Table, but is currently missing only the Fence, Spacer, and the Rear Table, but it seems I can easily make those with some good wood using my table saw and/or chop saw. Now that I've seen this video - the 3 missing pieces could have easily been sitting in her trash bin (that I failed to peek into, right next to the saw) as I drooled over the free Radial Saw (not that I would have known what I "saw" had I peeked, prior to viewing this video). The lady that ditched it came out, was happy I could use it, took my number and said she would call me if she found "other parts for it" as she cleans her garage. When I got home with it (several doors down), I had already noticed the red cap covering the "accessory" auger, looked up what was available, and started to really wonder what might be left in her garage (due to the cost of the many accessories). I think the addition of the "planer" accessory may be most useful for my needs (and may be sitting lonely, right there in the lady's garage - with who knows what else that should be reunited with my saw). I mainly watched this video to see all the parts I might be missing (so I could print pictures of those from the web for the lady) - and ended up learning so much more!

In all my years of doing brake pad replacement on my Nissan Xterra, I have never had the 1094 pads fit and slide correctly into the brake assembly. Every installation required me to use an angle grinder and adjust the contour of the "ears" of the pad so it would slide correctly and not hang up. I finally did a front brake job on the new Frontier and I the pads fit in the caliper without any trimming of the pad ears.

Appreciate the video! I have a caliper sticking and wanted to see what I was getting myself into before taking the wheels off.

My RAS has a motorized cross-cut feed. It won't let the blade self-propel. You have to squeeze the trigger to allow it to be pulled toward you.

I inherited a Craftsman RAS with hardly any use but no table. Took me a while to figure out a new one. But it won't raise without the arm being manually lifted, the raising threads must be stripped or something. If I can fix that it will be good as new and super useful.

I was wondering if you could help me. I took my saw apart and there's this stopper thing and I don't know where it goes kinda

The saw's manual has a detailed parts list showing where each part goes. Google the saw's model number (found on the saw's metal base where the table attaches) along with "manual pdf" and you will find the manual needed.

I like your teaching skills and showing problems that can happen with the use of a radial arm saw.

A work acquaintance gave me a saw just like this one you are showing. It mightbe the same model, too. He didn't like it because he thought it was too dangerous. I am now working on building a table for it. If you have any videos on its setup, I would really appreciate it.

Great video. I appreciate your safety instructions. Alot of good information. Just picked up a craftsman radial arm saw from a thrift store to add to my wood shop. Mostly for ripping. I have a question about the saw. If the blade is rotated 90 degrees, can you produce a tenon operation in the rip position? Is there a video on that that you can direct me to?
