I like old games as much, probably a lot more, than the next guy. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and old games are something that I’ll never stop coming back to. But I don’t think that the antidote is to stop looking forward and look to the past. Trying to bury our heads in the sand isn’t an antidote - it’s a resignation. The antidote is supporting games and game studios that refuse to cow-tow to industry pressures. Studios like Warhorse, FromSoft, or CD Projekt. And BTW - Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, as much as I loved that game, was pretty damn woke.

Late to the show here and just played these games. Advance 4 years later from the 2020, the peak of wokeness, to now where these devs are finally taking their just beating by the gaming world. People, mainly gamers, are talking with their wallets. The AAA gaming industry is going down the tubes and that's fine with me. I'll play RDR2 over and over before I spend any money on their garbage.

I stopped watching AGDQ once they had this fairy prancing around hosting the event. I'm a pretty conservative guy, and I don't feel at place in this community at all.

The problem with women is that they view men and themselves as nothing more than se× objects. To combat this problem we should pass laws to criminalize sIeepiπg with complete strangers. There are already laws against prostitutioπ. And we can model the laws after those ones and cops could do stings similar to how they catch John's.

Ptolemy got deep in this one

I was born in 2000, so technically I'm a zoomer. The first game I got into was DooM, which essentially shaped my worldview on what video games should be. I couldn't play RPG or strategy games until recently, and even now I have problems caring about anything that isn't a shooter game. The Resident Evil games have too many puzzles, and I hate how the zombies are bullet sponges. Coming from Doom where you are unstoppable and going to a game like Resident Evil or Fallout and I feel like I've been weakened. That's the point of horror games and RPGS; you are supposed to be weak or at least start out that way to build tension. I get that. That doesn't stop me from getting into fist fights with necromorphs, even if I lose 80% of my health. I tried to play cyberpunk, and the first hour of the game is talking and cutscenes. I hate it.

My favourite channel on the tube. I wonder if there is any piece of modern gaming you enjoy, I would love to hear your toughts on some of the more classic games like Wu Kong, Space Marine 2, Stellar Blade etc. Would also love tobhear you rambling on esoteric topics, politics, whatever. You verbalise ideas I vibe with on a deeper level, never knowing how to coherently express those feelings.

Life is not endless pain and struggle, you make it so by stubbornly refusing to stop what is causing you to suffer. In Buddhism, you are trapped in the cycle of Samsara, of being reborn again and again into this world, living, experiencing, suffering, dying, and being reborn again. The reason for this is threefold: attachment, desire, and illusion. You are attached to impermanent things in this world which you will inevitably lose, causing you to feel the despair of loss. You desire things which will satisfy your cravings, but these cravings cannot be satisfied, only placated until it is replaced by another desire, keeping you on an endless quest for fulfillment which you can never complete. Finally, the illusion brought about by your belief in your individual existence, your atomized self separated from the rest of reality, which isolates you and sets you against the rest of the world, only driving you to act upon your limited perspective and small desires. The purpose of Buddhism is to escape this cycle not by leaving it, but by realizing that it is not to be escaped. The whole of reality is a singular monistic whole, and you are a part of it. The flow of reality, the constant change, all events, all things which bring joy and suffering, these are all simply reality acting. You cannot stop them, but there is no need to. You are only affected by them because you attach yourself to impermanent things that you will inevitably lose, allow yourself to be dragged along by your endless desires, and sequester yourself away in the padded cell of the self. To attain Nirvana is not to escape Samsara, but to realize your absolute oneness with it and not be caught up in the things which cause you to be reborn again and again in different horrible lives. Think of it like swimming in the ocean; there are waves and currents which will push and pull you in different directions, tossing you around, and all the while you are struggling to simply stay afloat and not be pulled beneath to drown. But if you know how to swim with the current and the waves and not fight them, you can travel freely and calmly.

Imagine having developers come to your community and make a biggoted game like far fry 5 while they were treated fairly in such a community.
