I did not know how the Salvation Army was formed--very interesting!!! I have always love The Lily of The Valley!!! We sang it often in church when I was growing up!!! When my children were growing up, I had them save their change and at Christmas we would put it in the Bell Ringers Red Bucket!! I taught them it was a way of pleasing Jesus in giving to the needy in Jesus Name. We did not have much. I was a RN, but became disabled and deserted by my husband when I was diagnosed with Lupus at age 25. I am so thankful for strong Christian parents that were retired and in excellent health!!! God always provides for His own!!! I am 62 now and He has never left a need unmet!!! Yes, you can trust in Jesus and God!!

So many of our wonderful songs come from great pain or disabilities. Turn You Eyes Upon Jesus has always been a favorite of mine!! My mom would hum it around the house often. My dad was an old fashioned song leader. Mom played the piano in our church. I have always loved this hymn!!! It means so much to me!!! In times of great distress of chronic illness since I was 25-I am now 62. My dad would often tell the stories behind the hymns we sang---I did not know this one!!! I love the old hymns and their stories!!! They are ingrained in me. I also love the newer songs, but the old hymns hold a special place in my heart!!! So much like Fanny J. Cosby.

So amazing how God uses our weaknesses for His glory!!!! Often in our deepest weakness, He calls us to our greatest heights---Just As I Am is one of the most known and loved songs ever!!!! What glory is has brought to God!!!! How many lives it has taught the gospel that each of us that we are acceptable just as we are to Jesus and God!!!!
