I bought a Scag Patriot 52 inch Zero Turn. Saying good bye to my old Ferris. My first impression.
มุมมอง 3.8K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
My Ferris was starting to cost me money every year due to repairs. It has 1003 hours on it, so I knew it was time for a change. I chose the Scag Patriot 52 inch, 27 HP Briggs and Stratton engine. It mows easily through tall grass. It is comfortable to ride. I made the right choice.

Vintage Camp Toaster VS New Camp Toaster. Cooked On A Coleman Stove. And The Winner Is....
มุมมอง 1.7K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
The vintage toaster is one that my parents brought on our camping trips when we were kids. It was rusty. I soaked it in vinegar, cleaned it with a tooth brush. And gave it a coating of olive oil. Works good as new. The new one was made in China which I bought off of Amazon. They are both camp toasters. I cook on my Coleman white gas camp stove. They are both very different from one another. The differences between a vintage 1967 and a newer 2001 Coleman Lantern. Includes a mantle change.

This video compares a 1967 and a 2001 Coleman Lantern. It also shows you how to find the date on your lantern. Besides being two different colors, the vintage is built more ruggedly. The newer one is perhaps a bit brighter, and has the ability to burn two different types of fuel. They both use #21 mantle. One new mantle after the initial burn had a tear in it. I was able to replace the mantle. ...
Heating My Wood Shop With An Antique Atlanta Stove Works 23 Box Wood Stove. Free heat!

This is the wood stove my grandfather used to heat the basement when he was making axe handles. I'm not quite sure of the age. There is a 1918 on the bottom of the stove. You assembled the cheap one with the plate upside down. Don't know how much difference it will make, but it should force more heat through the holes. If you want to make camp toast, just put it on the grate or toast it in a pan or on a griddle. It's fast and much more even. With the main burner on high, you can toast with a marshmallow skewer in about 15 seconds a side. These things are a waste of space in my opinion.

I have used both styles. Used the wire framed type for a number of years, takes lots of flame to get that diffusion pan radiant enough. The pyramidal type is what I’ve use for the last 10 or so. Found it in a thrift shop for a dollar. Less heat, quicker toasting and less fuel used. Can’t go wrong.

The new lantern appears to have the mantels positioned higher than the old lantern, perched high and tucked snugly under the hood. The new orientation has advantages for seeing, based on the most common usage scenarios. However if you're looking for possums in the upper tree branches, it's distinctly less effective than the old design. For bank fishing at night, I like the new configuration.

Two recommendations. Do something with the heads of the bolts. Presently someone can break the glass, reach in with a wrench and loosen the bolts. I recommend either grinding the bolt heads or coating them with something like shoe goo to prevent someone from taking a wrench to them. I would also put a piece of wood between the two sections of the window so the bottom section can't be raised. A piece of wood and a couple of nails.

If someone is willing to cross your field and break into your remote barn they will likely have something to cut your padlock or they will crawl through those bars and unlock the door from inside. Doesn't seem like much security to me.

@@johndeweyoutdoors7725 I would suggest a second exit at the opposite end of the building (that is SOP with buildings containing flammable material or high power electrical equipment (eight sub-station explosions later, I can confirm this is a good idea). Making the doors easy to open blindfolded is occasionally a necessity too. Having your flammables in a fire resistant steel cabinet is a good idea too. If you handle acids or alkali’s, an easy to access water supply may save your skin (literally).
