The three reasons why I love mountain biking
There are a lot of reasons why people love mountain biking:The adrenaline rush of clearing technical features. The sense of community when riding with friends. The stress relief that exercise brings.
But not everybody loves mountain biking for exactly the same reasons. For me personally, there are three main reasons why I love this sport so much. Join me on a tour in the Engadin Region in Switzerland to find out which three these are.

I wonder where the trail is? Late autumn mountain bike tour
มุมมอง 424ปีที่แล้ว
November is my least favorite month of the year. In the northern part of Switzerland where I live, the typical weather is wet, cold and dark. Snow makes a lot of bike tours difficult or even impossible, but there is usually not enough snow for skiing and similar activities. But there is hope: The Alps often act as a weather barrier. So a two hour train ride takes me from the pouring rain to the...
Epic Tour: Biking High Above the Glacier Plaine Morte
มุมมอง 1.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Earlier this summer, I set out to do a mountain bike tour that turned out to be much more spectacular than I expected. Starting high above the glacier Plaine Morte, this tour had just the right mix of stunning alpine scenery and plenty of challenging trails. So just the ingredients that I love so much about riding in the Alps!
The Wait Is Over - Biking in the Mountains Is Back
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We have been waiting for this day for a long time. The snowmelt has finally progressed enough and we can ride our bikes in the mountains again. On today’s long and epic tour, we first ride a great and fast trail with fantastic views along the mountain slopes. After covering quite some distance without much elevation loss, we ride down to the valley on steep and technical trails. Join us on what...
Almost escaped winter! Mountain bike Ticino
มุมมอง 2.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Where I live it is still deep winter, which makes it difficult ride my mountain bike. Especially the high alpine trails remain out of reach. I therefore head south to Ticino, for an alpine mountain bike tour close to Locarno. I ride a fantastic trail from the mountain Cima della Trosa down to Mergoscia. I do not manage to escape winter completely however...
Surenenpass - An underestimated Swiss mountain bike classic
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
It’s October and winter is coming to the mountains in Switzerland. Soon, everything will be covered in snow, and I will have to swap the mountain bike for skis. However, I do want to enjoy a ride or two in alpine terrain before winter really sets in.. So on this beautiful autumn Saturday, I set off to ride the Surenenpass. It’s a classic mountain bike tour, but comes with quite some challenges....
Mountain biking in late fall is awesome! Hahnensee trail St. Moritz
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Today I ride in St. Moritz in the Engadin region of Switzerland. St. Moritz is known to mountain bikers for it’s great flow trails on the Corviglia mountain. However, I am not gonna ride the flow trails today. Instead, I head over to the other side of the valley to ride the Hahnenseetrail. It’s rugged and gnarly and has a reputation for beeing quite challenging.. Am I good enough to ride it? We...
Epic tour: Kistenpass by mountain bike in the Swiss Alps
มุมมอง 258K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I hauled my mountain bike over the Kistenpass, a high and remote mountain pass in the Swiss Alps that is only accessible by foot or on a mountain bike. After a strenuous uphill with lots of pushing the bike, I was rewarded with a fantastic landscape and awesome single trails down the other side. Most of the descent was steep and technical trails, bringing me to the limit of what I feel comforta...
The best Mountain Bike tour in Zermatt?
มุมมอง 18K3 ปีที่แล้ว
As the crowning glory of my mountain bike vacations in Zermatt, I do an evening ride from the Gornergrat down to Zermatt. In my opinion, this is one of the best tours Zermatt has to offer. While there are many hikers during the day, there is hardly anyone on the trail in the evening. The descent is a total of 1400 meters. On the Gornergrat you are surrounded by an incredible panorama of glacier...
Riding the Stunning Welschtobel Valley | Mountain Biking in the Swiss Alps
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I was mountain biking the Welschtobel, one of my favorite trails. The Welchtobel is a remote, wild and stunningly beautiful mountain valley in the Swiss alps. The ride has to be hard earned however since reaching the starting point (The mountain pass "Furcletta") requires considerable effort. I had the privilege to ride this amazing trail in the evening sun, and really enjoyed the special atmos...
Stunning! I'm now to MTB and curious about realistic speeds. Any chance you have your trips logged on Strava for others to see? If not, can you tell how long the trail was and how long it took, as well as the speeds up and down? Thanks!
Hi Robin, do you have GPX Tracks. You have really nice tours that I would love to ride aswell.
Great video, thanks for sharing. We hired e bikes in Switzerland a few years ago and I tell everyone about how amazing it was!
do you ride ebike or muscular ?¿? amazing video my friend
@@jaumemasias9490 Thanks, I ride a "muscular" bike :)
just did this yesterday!
Do you have your original route with your planned climb or the actual route you complete available to share? I am looking at this route combined with some other trails in the area.
Robin, when exactly was this? Early September?
Hey, amazing video! How long did the whole descent take? Also, I'm going to be in the area this summer and will try to do a ride like you did. Do you know the names of the individual trails you took? When I look up Gornergrat, it seems like that is the name of the top section that there might be a few different possibilities to continue down the mountain like you did. Thanks!
You sound like the monster from the Goonys
crazy
Grad abonniert! Wirde grad emotional wenn i das Video gseh, weiss genau was du meinsch🙌
Epic video, watched a few of your trail adventures, really awesome scenery and riding 🤙
Come to Albania, we have nice singletracks and no hikers on the trail 😁
Amazing! You're a brave man!
Great Scenery, i am a mature man, going out riding my mountain makes me feel young again and makes me smile 😂
Hi. Nice trip! What bike do you use for such trips/mountains? Thanks
I am riding a RAAW Madonna
heute gefahren - Enduro pur, echt gut 🥳
Motto d'Arbino 😊
I couldn't agree more
hey, cooles Video!!
I normally call these kinds of trails the 'have your kidneys already traveled up to your neck already'-trail. :P
Wow! Amazing video, hope you were alright! Viva La Grisha! I love Graubunden! Next year I will be back! Unfortunately, this year's finances did not allow for it. It reminds me a bit of the upper part of Val Mora.
Respect! Most people would already be very content with getting to the Muttsee-hutte from Brigels hiking!
The best biking video story I have seen in a long time, so engulfing and inspiring.
OK. So no Muttsee for me. That is way too sketchy for me that first part from the Kistenpass hutte!
Those Trails stick in my Head scince i rode em. Did you Ride the Frugg Trail?
No I think thats one of the few that I did not ride in Zermatt :)
No issues with assembly for me th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
Love the bike design th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube. All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.
I love you !!! Hahahaha could absolutely feel the excitement and childlike happiness through the screen with you, only as mtbkers know how stupidly happy something like that can make you! <3
u need to get an ebike, to not get so tired climbing so much.
hello , im atonished with your videos . I need a company that help me to make a tour like this , you have one that you can recommend . Thank you so much!!
U don't realize how hard it is to watch your videos. Views, trail, your skills ... 😉
beautiful and terrifying at the same time, amazing
How much time did it take for downhill riding?
❤
My wife and I rode this yesterday, inspired by this video. Amazing everything! The video doesn’t do it justice, the effort, the skills required and the exposure. The trail down from the refugio at Rhorbachstien has been realigned because of construction btw.
Nice! The Gopro always makes it look easy...
@@RobinsBikeAdventures did you do a bit of creative editing to include the tunnel and the water race below the dam? 😀
No the tunnel came somewhat unexpected. Not sure what you mean with "water race"
@@RobinsBikeAdventures the irrigation channel cut into the cliff. I was expecting the tunnel where you took your wheel off but didn’t find it, all the rest looked the same. None the less, amazing ride, you’ve given us plenty of inspiration for our visit
Robin, great to see you again! I hope you’re able to get out and enjoy your passion more this summer. Edit; no mountains where I live in Queensland, but my local national park is a place to enjoy the tall Eucalypts, listen to the birdsong and see the wildflowers coming into blossom now. It soothes my soul.
Great to hear you are enjoying nature!Actually I am riding quite frequently, but filming and especially editing not so much recently - takes a lot of time...
Glad to see your return mate!! 😀🤘 saludos desde México!! 😎✌and same to me the best is enjoy the nature and the exercise but in bike or walking cause we have to repect the nature I hate motorbike in nature only in highways!!
my dad introduced me to mountain biking when I was 7. I love the satisfaction of pedaling all the way to the top and the sensation while descending feeling the air thru your hair and watching how high you've come. this is why I love mountain biking
When I'm riding uphill, it often feels like I'm not getting anywhere. But when you look down after 1 or 2 hours, you see what you have achieved with muscle power. Feels awesome :)
you should go with rothorn cable car to the top and then descend down to valley
absolutely amazing. the only thing this channel needs is a Komoot or other gps or how to find and follow this tour <3
Robin, these are amazing bikle videos. How about doing a video co-production? 🙂th-cam.com/video/xxW4L-faKQs/w-d-xo.html
do you by any chance have a strava link or gpx to the route?
Are electric bikes allowed?
AFAIK they are the same as normal bikes from a legal point of view. I would however not recommend doing this tour with an electric bike, as it involves quite some pushing and carrying of the bike...
Is your buddy a paid guide?
No he is not
Haha! Beautiful trail! I've added it to my list, but I'll probably do it on foot :)))
what trail is this, i can seem to locate it on trailforks?
A combination of multiple trails, probably something like this: 1. www.trailforks.com/trails/gornergrat/ 2. www.trailforks.com/trails/riffelhorn-riffelberg/ 3. www.trailforks.com/trails/riffelbord/ 4. www.trailforks.com/trails/riffelalp-findelbach/
2:12 so beautiful place 😊
Great video Robin. I've ridden this trail twice however the second time the snow was very bad and made the riding impossible and dangerous. What month was it when you rode the trail? We plan to try and ride the trail again at the end of July this year. Keep the videos coming
Glad you enjoyed the video! This was filmed at around the 20th of August. It's always difficult to predict snowpack, but I think that chances at the end of July are quite good :). There is a webcam on the highest point which might give you an impression about the current conditions: www.bergfex.ch/crans-montana/webcams/c1803/
Thanks for laughing and talking with yourself with all the magnificence surrounding you. Most u-tubers express no emotion. When I'm out I can't help but to talk with myself to laugh at me and my riding.
