Lockheed Constitution Airplane #164
มุมมอง 2.1K16 ปีที่แล้ว
Constitution Aircraft is towed out of a small airport in Miami to its new home were plans were made to covert it into a static aviation museum and restaurant. The plane was moved thru city streets on June 1975 to an empty lot. Unfortunately the airplane met its demise there when it was ordered destroyed by the local town in 1978.

I already knew all this heh but it's nice to have a refresher, and I really like these vintage educational videos. Got anymore like this?
A sad end to a giant.
RIVIT 04:50 BOLTS 13:00 NUTS 13:59 SELF LOCKING NUTS 15:50 ANCHOR NUTS 16:18 TINIMUM NUT 16:34 WASHER 19:50 SCREW 21:30 SCREW DRIVER
These stuffs are so basic yet so mandatory …. This is the must for any aircraft mechanic /engineers
❤❤❤
Man i just love disco pointing whilst leaning about AN3 10-32 bolts
Thanks sir for this useful information. I wish you success
ah scary, lots of these tips are outdated and incorrect in todays standards, eg; nyloc nuts are not to be re-used under any circumstance now days, where as this video suggests they can be re used and only if hand wining is possible, only then replace it. wild!!! no wonder crashes were so common back then.
You are not correct my friend. Depends on component manufacturer and certification standards.
Luckily we have aircraft construction under strict control now, no door will fall off due to missing bolts!
@@mipmipmipmipmiplove the satire 😂
Wrong.

I'm actually from Ukraine. And I watched this video. People used to be able to shoot educational videos!
Love seeing a trip around Sebring track!! I raced there many times! Are you same who was writing book about the Constitution? I posted on 1 of your old videos but you may not have seen: @xr60 Love the videos of the Constitution. Was this plane moved from Sebring to Miami? My mom remembers my grandfather, Joe Marrs, being involved as part owner. Do you recognize the name? Could he have sold it to your family?
I think He sold it to Hank Wharton. It flew from Sebring to Miami. The night before flying to Spain in 1963 it caught fire and deemed unairworthy. My father got it an auction and had it towed to turn it into a restaurant and museum. The project stalled and the city got tired of it and it was scrapped in 1978.
Nylock in aviation safety critical situations? Yikes.
Usually not for structural use. We usually use safety wire or cotter pins. The nylons we do use aren't re-used. Nylons also aren't used in areas that are subject to high temperatures
Wait till you see how the steering is put together on your car.
@@straightpipediesel Found the trumptard... Not big on education, books, but love their entitled ignorance.
I was in the blue Camaro in front of you. I should have some of my videos up tonight.
That would be great!
How on earth did I wind up here? In any event, seems to be a well produced video.

My father won it at an auction held by the Opa Locka airport in 1974
Very good info...
I feel bad that this plane got forgotten
Guys dont forget JESUS at all times😊
Amen he deserves all the glory
🙄
how could we forget with people forcing the lie all the time.
😂 former crew chief here. This video is the best🎉. Reminds me why I ask christ for forgiveness 😅🫠.
Why no more than three threads must protrude past the nut ?
If too many threads protrude past the nut, it could mean the bolt is too long, and you will be tightening the nut against the shank of the bolt instead of the pieces you are trying to tighten together.
It's the standard. Hardware is designed and built to be used in accordance to specific standards. Improper use, or failure to adhere to hardware standards can reduce the effectiveness of that hardware or even damage components.
Nice
indeed
My Grandfather, Dewey William Abbey was the First Flight Engineer of 85164, the Constitution II. I have his flight logs from the navy flying this from June 1948 to January 1951 Awesome piece of history. Sadly he passed last year at 97 and my family have been research his service records.
