I love the concept behind Multiversus, and the gameplay and content has been extremely enjoyable so far. But the biggest problem I have with it is that fact that it's "free." It would've been so much better as a full game, a comprehensive single player mode, a story campaign, shinier presentation, and everything being reasonably unlockable. Instead, it's basically just "pay to unlock" trash, and it's insufferable. They market how you can play as all these different WB fighters, but in reality each person would only be playing as a few because it's so hard to unlock other fighters and costumes without paying extra. It's essentially a glorified mobile game. Anyone saying that this is "solid competition" to Smash is delusional. It could've been, but currently it isn't even close to Smash's level in literally any way.

Is no one gonna mention in the first 2 seconds a dude playing league with a controller?

I'm shocked how many detractors there are in the comments, I've been following this game a while and have been eagerly anticipating if it can bring new blood to fighting games. You hit the nail on the head of why the game is set up for success and expanding the FGC. I think the current costly system doesnt work and makes it impossible to get friends into it if they aren't already old school fighting game fans. Plus, its no secret how difficult it is to bring players into a $60 game that really relies on you WANTING to climb a steep learning curve, with only so much content to enjoy. The exciting part is competing and playing with friends with cool characters and fun visuals, this may finally offer that to everyone and expand the scene.

My biggest issue with the beta was it's battlepass and store prices. Like to forfill the battlepass, you had to grind hard, basicly have to play the game littereally daily, specially when you got shitty missions like "counter with wonderwoman", if you suck playing as wonderwoman, you are basicly screwed. And again, daily grind, which leads to fast burnout. Take fortnite back in the days. It was enough to play once a weak plus a lot of variety thanks to creative mode, to complete the battlepass.... then the second battlepass came and besides a cool outfit for Velma there was nothing of interest in it. Too many pointless shit that barely anyone uses. Second problem was the currencies, like you had two, but only one you could earn in game and then it was only to permant unlock certain characters. For anything else, you need gold, which you could only buy, not earn in anyway, not even in the battlepass, another thing fornite did better. And then certain stuff like alternate costumes where way too expensive. Like 20 bucks for classic Harley. And while I'm happy the game is back, I also have to see that they doing the same mistakes. Okay, now you can earn the currency for costumes and stuff in battlepass. But very very very little and only if you get so far. And costumes are still waaaaay too expensive to waste money on them. Hope they fix it a little bit someday.

I'm from the future. Sadly, right out of the gate, there seem to be new problems. The game may persist, but only barely. I'm honestly already counting it out for reaching a good position until it can get a version on a Nintendo console, and frankly I think, despite whatever performance issues people had with it, Switch not being prioritized feels like a little bit of a missed opportunity.

Saying that multiversus died is a huge over exaggeration. The game is a fighting game, most fighting games aren't that popular and if I'm going to be honest I have literally never met a person who plays a fighting game ever in my entire life well except for one person exactly one person. Fighting games are kind of niche. I meet new people literally every single day I don't hear them talking about tekken or mortal kombat. Smash bros is probably the most popular fighting games and I never hear about that from people when talking about their favorite games to play either. No matter what if the game has a surge of players on release and then slowly declines that's pretty much to be expected.

You give one of the best writers to write an amazing story, and then give it to a japanese man who lived reading books he couldn't understand and have him hide most of it. You get one of the deepest, most in-depth, saturated and well hidden lores in gaming history.

When the Elden ring dlc comes out the game is gonna die down a bit but if they can come out of that couple months with a consistent player base then they’ll have made it past the hardest part and they should be solid

Its a great game no doubt but it has become stylish for everyone to exaggarate their admiration for the game many of whom are never gonna finish it.

You dont understand how refreshing it is to play a good game after the multiple AAA slobs and scummy multiplayer games with heavy micro transactions that makes you feel poor even though you alright bought the game. With elden ring its possible to make fashion contests cuz you can unlock all the armor for free from just playing the game which makes the community more positive overall, you rarely see fashion contests or dedicated fashion contests in games with heavy micro transactions because it would be more of a whales competition in who spent the most money of cosmetics that are better than free cosmetics. All the issues that are in elden ring i can completely forgive because of how good the game is over all, there are things i would love to change obviously no game is perfect but its god damn close to perfection, all it needs is a couple of mods that don't really effect the game that much and its literal perfection. Its also the most full open world i ever played, most open worlds feel empty but in elden ring no matter where you go there's always something interesting just in a random corner of the map and i love it, even if its small it shows dedication to filling the map in general.

Elden ring with the dlc will be timeless masterpiece with storytelling, game-mechanics, open world and freedom to customize characters, is why I think people will enjoy it many years later too. Well about being game of the decade, I have high hopes for GTA 6 and ,Elder Scrolls 6

I had a buddy that I work with put me on to it. The more I researched about it the more it interested me to buy it. I am blessed to have made the decision. I’ve owned it for PS4 and currently have it for the 5 lol. Elden Ring is one of the greatest games ever made after this DLC drops

Honestly I don’t see the upcoming release of Baldur’s Gate having anything to do with the decline. I absolutely love the Baldur’s Gate series but for the majority of the gaming community it was more of a silent hit. It wasn’t well known outside of the Crpg community until the controversy of other company devs saying“this game is too good for us to ever top”
