This is a video highlighting the way light pollution affects your astrophotography. If you've tried using the settings you've heard to use by many TH-camrs in order to capture stars but end up with white photos, it's more than likely due to the fact that you aren't far enough away from city lights. Great video ! Just got my 70d with alot of lenses yesterday, so I’m still learning it but I got a 50mm lense, 18-55mm lense, 10-18mm lense, 18-135mm lense, and a 70-300mm lense. The 18-55mm lense is the kit lense that came with my rebel XTI lol but what lense would you recommend for Astro photography? Noob question but hopefully I’ll be more pro by the end of the year!

    • @RickyRayPhotography
      @RickyRayPhotography 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, your English is great! The lens is going to matter a little more than your camera. If you get a full frame camera, then look into the Sigma Art 20mm f/1.4 lens. It’s amazing and will show a lot of stars. Now make sure the camera is a full frame camera. So something like a Canon 6D or a Canon RP, Sony a7ii. There’s a ton of option but you’ll need to make sure you purchase the lens with the corresponding mount for your camera.

    I’ve recently purchased the ioptron skytracker pro and I’m wondering whether the kit lens that came with my canon 200d will be able to capture the Milkyway without the blurring and star trails.

    • @RickyRayPhotography
      @RickyRayPhotography 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what the ioptron ST does but I’ve never used one myself. However, it should allow you to get some beautiful star captures even with a kit lens. You could shoot a photo of the sky for 5 minutes, meaning you could keep your ISO way down, giving you a much cleaner photo. Then, just take a picture of the foreground and mask it in through photoshop. Also, just go mess with it and figure it out and then make a video so others can see how you do it!! I’d watch that video!

    • @allanmurray4156
      @allanmurray4156 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RickyRayPhotography Will give that a go, i got ok results before i got the startracker but the stars did blur a bit, will the startracker help keep the stars sharp, and will it enable me to take clear sharp images of the milkyway using just my kit lens on my canon 200d.

    Hello Ricky I liked your videos and the photos but I don't if I got everything, my english is not so good yet, I live in Los Angeles and I like to travel some times to enjoy the nature and I like take picture also but I just have my cell phone and a Gopro, now I'd like to invest some money in a camera, could you help with it? could you recommend a good camera with a good price ( I mean less than 1000 dollar if possible) good for nature and astrophotography, I saw some models like Canon EOS SL2 DSLR 18 - 55 and 75 - 300 and others similar, some people say to buy mirroless and others says DSLR honestly I have no idea, I've been looking for cameras ( searching in the internet )for the last two weeks and now I'm so confused. thanks in advance

    • @RickyRayPhotography
      @RickyRayPhotography 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Walter Queiroz of course. So a lot of new cameras have come out since I released this video. Tons of things have changed as well. I would recommend you spend less on your camera body and more on your lenses. Try to go for a Canon Rebel series (price ranges anywhere between $400 and $650) and then spend the rest on some Sigma lenses or Tamron. Then once you can save up more to replace your camera body, you will have two cameras at that point. When you do make the upgrade, look at the Canon 6D mk ii. It’s an entry level full frame and it will allow you to capture certain things that the crop sensor of the Rebel won’t let you capture.

      ND 1000 is to strong, for capturing lightning. Try a ND 64 for daytime Thunderstorms and close your apurture, like F16 and choose your shutterspeed to 1 or 2 Seconds and ISO should be low as possible.
