For a long time, the history of the Oromo people was distorted, not only by Abyssinian writers but also by European missionaries. This distortion can be traced back to the reign of King Tewodros II, whose advisor, John Bell, along with various European missionaries, contributed to shaping misleading narratives. These individuals, often traveling across Africa for geological surveys, the search for the source of the Nile, and other expeditions, wrote accounts that misrepresented Oromo history and culture.
In this video, I’ve highlighted both the inaccuracies and the truths in their writings. By addressing these historical misconceptions, I aim to shed light on the rich and authentic history of the Oromo people.
