@@Britishbirdsnests if I recall correctly on second check I saw the female blackcap , but in my place I've found at least two blackcap nests at around 170-180 cm

@BirdRinginginBulgaria oh I wasn't questioning if it was a blackcap haha! More just that it was higher than I usually find them!

@@Britishbirdsnests yeah all of the blackcaps that i finda are higher than 1m and some even more :? Maybe I'm not good at looking lower in the vegetation and this is the reason why I usually find only high nests 😁

@@kingserbiabgd1488 ah no....he was caught during a bird ringing session. With a special safe net :) and released after that of course

ok, you can see the difference in the old feathers and the new, also in my country it is strictly forbidden to take pictures or record the eggs, it causes a lot of anxiety in the birds when this is done greeting....

@@kingserbiabgd1488 yes the bird had moult limit in the feathers :) it's the same in my country..only trained ornithologists with special permission (I have that permission) can handle wild birds and take photos and videos of them. Cheers

@@BirdRinginginBulgaria No D .. you misunderstand. (My fault) I have not found any in my lifetime.. When I read my response back, I completely see your point of view..What i was trying to get across was the low numbers of this species in the U.K.

Thank you Stephen! I had no idea that Corn bunting can nest of the ground but I'll have it in my during the next bird walk. This location is full of Corn bunting pairs ,but I think they are very shy and the nests are hard to find(for me).

@@Britishbirdsnests This one was by accident...The female flew out of the nest while I walking by and I managed to locate it in the grass. Two years ago I found one by watching back, but for me Corn bunting is a difficult species ..I need to gain more experience with it

@@Britishbirdsnests I'm sure that if you come to Bulgaria and search in my location you'll be able to find many more than me :D I'm really starting to think about visiting other bird nest finders (in other countries) to gain more experience.

@@BirdRinginginBulgaria they do a similar type of flight song , like whitethroat, flying up and hovering and singing then dropping down quickly.

@@BirdRinginginBulgaria sneaky but they sing and call near nest site ect they do nest quite low in thick vegetation alot or low bushes. I've never had lots of nests close , seem well spread, had them in villages, gardens , open areas In woodland and scrub. Rough unkempt land . Apps available for call detection id pressume .

We don't have raccoons in Bulgaria :) My guess is a squirrel or a woodpecker

Something chewed up that box trying to get inside...we have raccoons here in states that try to get the babies

@@2SD251Jim I assume they do a lot of damage...here the biggest problems come from cats, woodpeckers, squirrels, and sometimes snakes...

@BirdRinginginBulgaria good luck to you..I had bluebird box on my fence and raccoons killed the mom and babies...learned the hard way not to put on fence or tree...now on a pole with predator guard...no problems since...

After the second check it looked to me slightly bigger than Blackcaps nest, but maybe I think like that because I'm certain it is another species

@@BirdRinginginBulgaria Yes! Very difficult with the nests this year. I have fingers crossed on 2 active as we speak…Great positions… but so many variables!! I would love to get the Linnet at the nest… so hard!!👍
