Really enjoyed Sheldon’s exploration into the world of HO scale model trains in this episode! It’s funny and relatable to see him find more entertainment in the smaller scale compared to the O scale models. It’s a great reminder of how personal preference plays a big role in the hobby of model railroading. I also focus a lot on different scales on my channel and love seeing how each scale brings something unique to the table. Thanks for highlighting this in such a fun way!

Model Trains are my go-to example of something that is just as pointless as almost every other pursuit we have to choose from in this vast world of too many people with too many dreams. If we have the privelige of pursuing it and we're not hurting anyone, why the heck not.

You know what, I think it’s cool Sheldon has no shame playing with model trains. Wish I had appreciated my toys when I was younger because they were genuinely cool and well made. Don’t often see quality toys anymore. If I had half the imagination I did back then and none of the fear of embarrassment, I might try it. But even though I don’t play with the toys, I still save and display them.

The term playing with trains is not quite right its operating a highly scaled model that has been built over many hours . Just like model boats or planes etc . It's a lovley Hobbie

Props for making sure Sheldon has that one outlet that is fun, creative, yet has the right scientific and historical interests for him to be delighted to be involved with. They should have done an episode that Sheldon needed a back up job from studying string theory and he just went off and became a train conductor. That probably would have ruined his fantasy of the job though lol!

Model trains ARE NOT the same as toy trains! And most adults who "play" with trains tend to be intellectuals who have been fascinated by machines their entire lives. It also takes a great deal of creativity and imagination to build layouts with realistic buildings and scenery.
