After singing the role of Simon Boccanegra on April 1st, 2019, Plácido was honoured on stage for having just finished his 4000 th operatic performance. This unbelieveable artist is unique in history! Sorry for the wobbly pic. The "man in the first row" who filmed it was still shaking after the performance. ;)

A very successful performance. Great singers and a REALLY great conductor! Plácido found so many rarely heard nuances in the score. Others might have a different taste, but I have never heard, for example, Brünnhilde's "Todesverkündigung" ("Announciation of Death"? Plácido Domingo was incredible as Macbeth! Such a powerful voice, such a passion for what he is doing, such an actor! He is simply unique! After the performance, Kwangchul Youn, a former participant in Plácido Domingo's Operalia competition, got honoured by the Staatsoper Berlin. He is now a "Kammersänger". Congratulations!

One at "Theatermuseum" (Palais Lubkowitz), one at the Staatsopernmuseum (Vienna States Opera). Here is the opening of the first one, at Theatermuseum, which took place on May 16th, 2017.

Concerning the boooo's at Walküre I in 2018. I was there and, yes, Placido Domingo got some boooo's. I did NOT boo. He may have developed nuances etc., but in my humble opinion, some other parts were not all that impressive. I was at the Petrenko Ring, 2014 (I), with the unforgotten Johan Bohta (and also with Anja Kampe and Catherine Foster), and - sorry - Petrenko's tension throughout was superb, incredibly dense. Bavarian radio also had a broadcast ... Let's leave Castorf's staging aside: the 2014 Walküre was incredible.
