It was a hit job. It is strongly rumored that Joseph Schenck poisoned him for the million dollar life insurance Policy. When he passed away, Joseph did not even so much as buy his client a tombstone. A million dollars back then was about $3.5 million today. Rudy was incredibly famous and had American women going absolutely crazy. Their husbands were taking that pretty bad instead of just going along with it. A latin like verbtype appears out of nowhere and sweeps American women off their feet through his silent movies!

  • @annegoodreau4925

I thought this was particularly well done with all the different pictures explained. I never knew that Valentino had a book of poetry. In anticipation of the sound era, he had recorded a couple of songs, and you can find them on TH-cam. I don't know what exactly happened to Pickfair and why it was demolished, except that the commentators are saying that Pia Zadora is to blame. It does look lovely and should have been preserved the way it was when Doug and Mary owned it.

Considine, Lottie Pickford. The only 2 I dont know, are the man next to Lottie and the man to the right of Valentino.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful, personal story. How great it would be to have gone through the house before Pia's wrecking ball destroyed Hollywood history. In Sept 2023 she was quoted about it, and she said the following: “I never wanted Pickfair. My husband Meshulam wanted to leave me this legacy, but my kids swore to me there were ghosts. And there were termites. I wouldn’t tent it because I didn’t want the chemicals. So someone said, ‘Tear it down.’ Look, it was my house - suck it!"

She intentionally demolished Pickfair, I used to live in Beverly Hills and I passed by the estate everyday as a teenager and hoped to one day own the house, but, she and her husband got to it first. I would not make the kind of money I needed to buy the property and save it for future generations to have a feeling of what it was like in the golden days. I'd walk down to the pool house and the ghosts were with me all the way...I only went a few times but my co-worker was clueless about the place and he'd leave me there for hours...and swing by for me on his way back to the office. Bruno was the mame of the owner he helped my dad alot.My father was born in 1912,in Cuba and he told me that when Valentino died his sister cried so much.He was a young teen ,his sisters where older then him.He also told me his sisters wrote fan letters to Valentino and other stars in Spanish, I wonder if the stars received them we will never know, but he told me some girls killed themselves when this happened even in Cuba.He said all the guys wanted to look like Valentino. Here she sang pop standards and torch songs. She sounded like Liza Minnelli, Eydie Gorme' and other talented singers. She was also excellent when she appeared in the movie "Naked Gun" part 2.
