In this video we tear down the Massey Harris 44 tractor after it was discovered that the engine was tired. Where did you get new radiator from?
@kevinhaarklau6030 Came from a company called alloy works. Got it from a person who had bought it and didn't need it.
The "A" looks like it has had good care during its life,, the "C" It's harder to tell because the shot is from too far away in the short that can't be enlarged..
The C is battered and beaten, almost not even interested.
@ThreeGenerationsRestoration ,, Just about 2 years ago, I picked up a '51 Super C, that has a McCormick loader on it, I think a number C32? it appears as if it's been on the tractor since new, The tin on the tractor is flawless, it even still has the radiator shutters & rear belt pully on but it appears as if the entire rig has never spent a day undercover 😔 You may be better off looking for a Super, if you want a C, the disk brakes are so much better,
Saw a TD-6 for sale on Craigslist today and thought of you. Could be a some good videos. Salem, WI
So, do you guys sell the tractors after restoring them, or do you keep them
Some we keep, some we sell. I would say a majority we sell.
Would you be interested in a farmall b I have for sale
@duanebolen543 yes, where are you located at?
Go for the “A”- looks like a good project for you!!
Excellent job.
Looks great
In the late’60’s I kinda learned how to drive on a farmall H and a M…. Brings back memories like the sounds etc…. Too cool!!
where did you buy that radiator?
@@andyrobinson339 Facebook marketplace, a lady had it on a pallet of parts. It's from Alloy works
It’s coming along !
@@TKM1951 Just got painted yesterday!
I hope you don't leave all them tractors sit outside
@JeffMartin-qj4yq some do stay outside but get covered. Most are under some cover
What happened to the old radiator
@@JeffMartin-qj4yq was wrecked when the tractor was accidentally ripped apart.
Do you find a lot of water in the rear end of those old Farmalls? Those platform bolts tend to leak water in. We know people that had frozen rear ends in the winter and had use Knipco heater before they could move.
@@GARYPETERSON-t9u yes, they always tend to have water in them. I like to drain, rinse, and refill any with milky oil.
😊😊 U have 2 use the choke a bit because the tractor 🚜 😮 is cold and U push the choke back in a bit so it will run it has 2 warm up be 4 it will run on its own 😊😊 OMG 11 28 2O24
Super cool, how can I get my tractor restored by you
My father and uncle worked on a lot of Massey Harris tractor's in Northern Ontario when I was a kid. There were only a few 44's as I recall and most were used for running sawmills. There were a lot more 22's 30's and Pony tractors. They could work in the. bush a little better. Thanks for sharing the experience of restoring the old Massey it brings back memories. It's possible the 44 you have was built in Toronto Canada.
That’s a sweet model “A”… The unstyled Deeres are so cool!!;
Wow yall restore a lot of tractors, what do yall do for a living. I would love to have the money to restore one of my old tractors.
@deepsouth-piddlin Been doing it myself for 3 years now. My dad for over ten, and my grandpa over 30. We sometimes do over 30 tractors a year!
I think its time you tried spray on Coppercoat , or is that something australian ?
@Mopar-Pioneer no, definetly can get that here, never tried it before.
Those are good finds for sure. Thanks for Sharing. 😊
I know a guy that has a grader in Knoxville ill. I got it running for him 2 years ago.
I started farming with a 44 LP. Wish I had kept it. I had other LP Tractors the hydraulic system was the pits. We also had a 44 Diesel with wide front. Also a gas 44. Still have it. Always had hydraulic problems with the LP. Dumb but for not keeping the Diesel and LP
My first day of being a subscriber.. i scrolled thru your videos. I find them very hard to follow. Labels , titles are difficult to navigate. I like your mechanical presentation. That is easy to follow its right on spot.
@GlennMyers-b6u working on that, trying to get more organized as I go. Thanks for watching!
We have a few of those Massey's here. Just got a 33 in about the same shape! Better be sure to measure the crank journals to be sure of the size. The damage to those inserts is likely due to too much clearance and the bearing pounding. Who ever was in that motor last time, didn't know what they were doing. That weep hole on the water pump is normally facing the bottom, so any moisture don't lay on the bearing. Be real sure to check the wear on the oil pump, those motors are noted for poor oil pumps and the resultant low oil pressure!
@frankwurth5375 noticed alot of what you were saying. Oil pressure was good when tractor was running. We just bought bearings and will be plastigauging soon. This tractor is a basket case.
Try Kroil- excellent penetrating oil
Those cups are referred to as lash caps.
Rod that radiator for sure.
@@frankdeegan8974 Definetly going to be fixed.
Have a bunch of those MH 44s! Great work. What state is your shop in?
@@ToddHocraffer Saw all your comments, we are in Illinois just west of Chicago.

You are keeping this former farm kid (1950s/1960s) entertained. Great contwnt
@2005toyota1 thanks, glad you enjoy it!
😮😮 alot of old tractors 🚜 😮 haven't anything done 2 them ever since they were brand new and came out of the factory 😮😮 most were made in then 194OS other be 4 then some people who valued anything they done regular oil changes in there equipment all of the time ⏲️ 😊 and once gets dirty it's not going 2 clean anymore from then on its just dirt 😮😮 and that eats the piston rings and the bearings up and most of the oil back then it wasn't even what it was 3O years ago that's the life 😊😊 of a engine and the oil bath air cleaner had 2 be cleaned all the time like 👍 😊 wise until they they went 2 the dry paper 📃, air filter even those when U couldn't knock them or clean out w air U have 2 replace them 😊😊 OMG 11 21 2O24
Great work
😊😊 U always pre oil a engine when U put it back 2 gether oil everything U can U don't start a engine dry 😮😮 that's a no no there's no oil in the engine yet 😮😮 OMG 11 15 2O24
@clarencetrice4442 didn't show it but put oil in engine and also cranked engine over until we had oil pressure before we attempted first start.
And torque the manifold bolts!!
Better than 35x
will 300 be for sale
@@timstandish2025 yes, it will be for sale
Nice job guys good video thanks
@lyleminyard2308 thank you!
Which one do you like the?
@@ellishaynes5410 favorite one there is the 1935 Mcormick T20
@ mine too!
How many machines do you have overall currently? Love the content.
Roughly 30 tractors currently.
I’m curious how much money do you from doing this if you don’t mind me asking. I just like the idea of fixing old tractors up for a profit
Nice shed l will be watchin!!!!!!!!!
Your T-20 should be gray.....a little darker than the Cat. Red paint came around late in 1936.
@DeeringDave consulted a professional International collector and he said that red did in fact come put in 1936 but that was for all farm tractors. Red came out for the McCormick deering crawlers years before and right after the camel humped T20s. I was going to originally go grey but after further investigation it is supposed to be red.
Nice ol’ A-C !! We had an A-C “C” with a wide front we used with a bush hog mowing the “back 40” … sounds real similar to your “B”
As far as the radiator if the cores did not get damaged do you have a radiator shop in your area where you could have a new tank put on the top 17:26
The possibility on the one different Oil ring is there is a possibility that that ring could have broke when they reassembled ? And as far as water in the oil I'm sure you guys know that is either from water getting into the engine through the exhaust obviously because of the number three cylinder being stuck and the other is from the tractor just sitting and that's condensation not necessarily a bad head gasket
I have a allis chalmers 220 western no many of them made 1865 total it is for sale in saskatchewan canada straight and pretty clean
The snow plow blade on the little Allis Chalmers B is some pretty awesome farmer ingenuity
Should be handy in the snow, when it does up here I'll make a video of me using it!
very nice grader. I've never had the chance to run one of those, but I've always been told they can't be beat for final grade. They were the ones to beat back in the day and nobody ever did.
Keep getting it boy good video!
